MMA Comments that Don't Warrant a Thread

Speaking of Bushido guys, D. Mishima is fighting Joe Stevenson at UFC 65 instead of Hominick.

Improvement, if you ask me!

Better fight, but still something of a step back for Joe. He's most likely going to merk Mishima bad, especially when he introduces him to the combination of cage stacking + elbows. I think a fight with someone like Franca would've been better.

Not alot of people did, though I think it has has much to do with Manhoef's utter lack of grappling ability as it does with Akiyama's legitimacy.

I just found a Tank Abott fight on tv. I don't know what to think.

*Edit*

Wow he actually looked impressive. He beat the shit out of some Cabbage guy in like a minute.

To put that in perspective, BART GUNN beat Cabbage.

Arlovski couldn't knock out Cabbage but Tank did. But there's also the fact that Arlovski sucks.

It's not a chin he's lacking, it's desire/heart.

While getting dropped by Sylvia in the second fight, he wasn't out, just didn't really fight back enough to end it.

In the second he took some heavy blows but he still hung in there. Once he hurt his leg though, he was done and didn't feel like continuing. He let Sylvia take the fight.

I don't think you understood me. I said BART FUCKING GUNN beat Cabbage. BTW, Arlovski TKO'd Cabbage, you must be thinking about Sylvia.

Yeah, you're trying to say how much Cabbage sucks. I then brought up that even Arlovski couldn't KO Cabbage while Tank did. (Cabbage basically tripped and the fight was stopped in the Arlovski fight) But then I remembered that Arlovski is just a crappy fighter. He also has some fruity ground and pound which you can see on display after he "knocked out" Justin Eilers.

MSIA's SHOOTO's 10/14 card preview

Lots of big name fighters on the card, against mostly overmatched opponents, including:

Tatsuya Kawajiri (Top 5 Lightweight)

Ryota Matsune (Top 3 132 pounder)

Akira Kikuchi (Top 10 Welterweight)

Shinya Aoki (Top 5 Welterweight)

"Lion" Takeshi Inoue (#1 Featherweight)

Also, a rematch between the world's two best bantamweights (champion Mamoru Yamaguchi & #1 contender Shinichi "BJ" Kojima), PUREBRED Omiya prospect Ganjo Tentsuku (versus veteran Takashi Nakakura), and arguably the hottest SHOOTO Rookie Tournament final ever ("Wicky" Akiyo Nishiura vs. Daisuke Ishizawa).

Well, BJ choked Mamoru out in less than 2 minutes to become SHOOTO's 2nd Bantamweight World Champion.

Meanwhile, Konishi advanced to the 132lbs. Rookie Final with a JD over Nimii, Ganjo & Nakakura went to a majority draw, "Wicky" Akiyo became the 2006 SHOOTO Lightweight Rookie Champion with a JD over Ishizawa, and the previously mentioned favorites all won their respective bouts decisively aside from Aoki, who got his nuts smashed for a DQ.

BJ will likely take his place, though probably somewhere lower in the Top 10, but an argument could be made for both guys being ranked. Then, there's also the distinct possiblity of a third fight.

DUnno if any of you saw this, but msn.com has a link to a fairly good read on a blog responding to the article below that was calling UFC nearly pornographic, amoung other things compared to boxing I believe, here's the link to the blog, and to the other article below.

Martin Kampmann vs. Thales Leite & Michael Bisping vs. Eric Schafer @ the TUF finale. Both solid match-ups, though it's a shame that Schafer & Kampmann are likely to be phased out if they should lose their respective fights.

The new Xyience commercial with Forrest is quite enjoyable, probably the second best one so far, save the first Hughes spot where he talks about showing his kid how to properly throw a kick.

Wanderlei Silva vs Mark Coleman

Wow. I'll never look at those 2 the same way again.

Cute flame war they had there.

Some of that is total bullshit. If I were Carmello Marrero I'd be fucking pissed. He made Kongo look like total shit and Kongo made more than 3 times what he did? Or Joe Lauzon who beat Jans Pulver and made 5 times less than his opponent.

Marrero & Lauzon came in with no hype or management to demand more than the UFC's starting salary of 3K to show/3K to win (admittedly very low). On the other hand, Pulver was the former (and only) LW champion coming in with a lot of hype, while Kongo was being built up as an entertaining HW title contender. I'm sure if Lauzon can keep things up, he'll make decent money soon enough (though it'll be hard considering he's not a true LW), while Marrero will probably be fed to a more entertaining fighter who isn't a totally worthless grappler.

Matt Hughes: $130,000 (defeated BJ Penn)

I'm sorry, that's total horsecock. It's sad that he didn't make much more.

That is just the base of what the UFC paid him. He makes more than that on sponsors alone. Plus whatever added perks UFC lays on him.

That's a mighty fine payment for one nights work, and please nobody compare this to boxing salaries. Boxing as a sport has had over a 100 years of development, it is a different industry. I'm sure Matt Hughes was gladly laughing all the way to the bank.
