So it seems that Gono was none too pleased with Rogan's biased commentary in the McCrory fight. From his blog...

"I began to find my rhythm with my leg kicks which are obviously all weak, powerless, and revolting, like pussy karate chops, without any weight in them. Certainly my kicks are nowhere near the kind power of like a Pete Spratt or a Thiago Alves as the commentator pointed out to you."

Had Omigawa stuck to schoolyard bully tactics (shove & punch), he could've taken that fight. Regardless, Omigawa's always fun to watch.

His problem was not having someone kneeling behind Wiman at the point of pushing. And missing a toilet to provide swirlies.

Have you read that entire interview? It's freakin hilarious

Link please?

Din Thomas got cleared of all charges.

Karo said in a hilariously egomaniacal interview that he either wants to fighter a tomato can or no one until he gets his title shot... lol.

And Wandy is looking like he's in good shape and ready to wallop Chuck.

There's also apparently a small possibility that UFC 80 will air on CBS.

Rampage interview.

UFC light heavyweight champion Quinton “Rampage” Jackson is used to surprising people. Not only is he one of the few PRIDE fighters to find success in the UFC, he’s done it against two of the sport’s biggest icons in Chuck “The Iceman” Liddell and Dan “Hollywood” Henderson.

Now 3-0 in the UFC, Rampage looks to broaden his horizons with the creation of the “Rampage Empire” and by working behind the scenes with UFC President Dana White on an unknown endeavor.

I managed to track down the 205lb superstar for a few minutes of Q&A. As we’ve come to expect from the boisterous Jackson, the results speak for themselves.

Jesse Holland (MMAmania): What’s up Rampage, how’s the hand? When are we going to see you back in the Octagon?

Quinton “Rampage” Jackson: It feels good, I should be ready to start punchin’ in a few weeks. I’m gettin’ back to training and all that. As far as my return I don’t know what the hell’s goin’ on. You guys will probably find out before I do.

Jesse Holland (MMAmania): Dana White mentioned that he’s got “big plans” for you in the near future. What’s he alluding to?

Quinton ”Rampage” Jackson: I love Mexicans. I love tacos, burritos…I don’t know man, I don’t know what the hell Dana’s talkin’ about.

Jesse Holland (MMAmania): So you’re not prepared to announce your role as coach on the next season of The Ultimate Fighter?

Quinton ”Rampage” Jackson: I can’t announce none of that. I can’t announce the new Rampage energy drink that’s coming out, I can’t announce my new deal with Affliction, I can’t announce the Rampage rims for your ride. I can’t announce nothin’.

Jesse Holland (MMAmania): How would you do in that type of role as a guy who notoriously loathes training?

Quinton ”Rampage” Jackson: I hate training. I’m not sayin’ I don’t train - I’m the hardest training guy in this sport but I don’t like it. I hate it. That’s why I have to whoop so much ass. That fool standing across from me in the Octagon made me train for so long just to fight them. Now they have to pay. It’s punishment dammit.

Jesse Holland (MMAmania): What’s your prediction for the Chuck Liddell vs. Wanderlei Silva fight at UFC 79?

Quinton ”Rampage” Jackson: I think it’s gonna be a good fight. (Yawns) Damn I need a Rampage energy drink right about now. I wish they would have done it a few years ago back in the day. They both lost two fights but they were against good people - well, Chuck lost to Jardine let me check that - it don’t matter. Two fights don’t end a career.

Jesse Holland (MMAmania): What’s your contract status with the UFC? How long will you be around?

Quinton ”Rampage” Jackson: Damn you askin’ some nosy-ass questions. I ain’t tellin’ you none of that. Damn you nosy.

Jesse Holland (MMAmania): Do you think the UFC could have done a better job of marketing you?

Quinton ”Rampage” Jackson: The UFC is very smart with their marketing. They just want to make sure I have the belt for a while. Marketing is expensive. Why they gonna spend all that money and then have me get knocked out by Dan Henderson like he did to Wanderlei. Then they gotta market Dan and then he gets knocked out. The UFC been around awhile that’s why they’re on top. I’m not trippin’ on them for marketing ’cause I can market my damn self.

Jesse Holland (MMAmania): Were you disappointed that Fedor signed with M-1 instead of the UFC?

Quinton ”Rampage” Jackson: Who the hell is M-1? I love Fedor so whatever he does is good for him. I wish he was in the UFC but I guess I’ll have to watch him in M-1 - whatever the hell that is.

Jesse Holland (MMAmania): Is there anyone in the light heavyweight division you want to fight? What about Sokoudjou? He’s talking about making some noise.

Quinton ”Rampage” Jackson: Whoever they give me. I ain’t worried about these guys talkin’ crap. They just trying to blow themselves up. That’s the oldest trick in the book. They crazy if they think I’m fallin’ for that crap. I do my talkin’ inside the Octagon. I don’t talk crap about nobody until after I whoop their ass except in some cases if they have bad breath or they ugly as hell.

Jesse Holland (MMAmania): How do you feel about fighting a friend? What if they offered you Tito?

Quinton ”Rampage” Jackson: I might not want to do it, but I guess I would fight a friend if they wanted the belt or if they needed the money that comes with fighting the champ. What kind of friend would I be if I didn’t? I’ll do anything for my friends. Well, almost anything. I ain’t dyin’ for them. I ain’t Jesus Christ man, I got kids.

Hurry up with those questions homeboy I gotta take a mean crap. You wanna come into the bathroom and finish this?

Jesse Holland (MMAmania): Uh, no thanks!

I doubt Randy fears anything. But fuck if I don't want a Fedor/Nog main event more then Tim Sylvia stuffing Nog's takedowns and jabbing and clinching with him for 25 minutes en route to a UD vicotyr.

You actually think that would happen? I can't see Sylvia beating Nogueria who has much more techncial boxing then him by doing the same old jab, two step.

It's Tim fucking Sylvia

He wins when we really dont' want him to. And after Nog's performance against Herring I'm not gonnna lie, he didn't look good.

Apart from that head kick, Nogueria dominated the fight. I remember you saying the same thing before the Rampage/Chuck fight, that basically just because Rampage didn't look great against Eastman he was going to lose to Chuck.

He has all the tools to be one of the most entertaining heavyweights for the UFC, but he fights in such a pussy(smart) way that it's irritating. Combine that with the fact he's a dolt, and only calls out guys he knows he can manipulate into fighting his kind of fight... instead of just hating him, I've grown to like him for some reason. It's kind of a sad type of comedy that just won't end.

I still think if Vera didn't break his hand, he would've won. But a win is a win, can't take that away from Sylvia.

Tim's a good fighter and a top 10 HW(arguably top 5), but I can't see him beating Nog. Vera could go down to 205 if he wants to, Nogueria is a stronger HW, with more experience against top level competiton. He's better then Tim in all aspects of MMA.

Apparently, Gina Carano is going to be an American Gladiator.

From 411:

More Monday news!

- Four guys on the new American Gladiators have ties to pro-wrestling other than Hulk Hogan. They are:

* Titan (Michael O'Hern) appeared in WCW as Michael O'Dell and his wife is former WCW valet Midajah.

* Justice (Jesse Smith) appeared in WCW as Snake and appeared on the last WWE Tough Enough as one of the participants.

* Wolf (Don Yates) appeared in WWE and also has worked indie shows.

* Crush (Gina Carano) is also a female MMA fighter for EliteXC.

- The transcript of CNN's Showbiz Tonight that focused on the Nick Hogan car crash is available here.

Some random things:

Best of UFC 2007 is on Spike tonight. It's 3 hours. Probably worth checking out or recording to fast forward through.

Ken Flo is filling Randy's spot doing color commentary for the main event this Saturday during Huerta vs. Garcia. Anyone want to set an over/under at how many times Kenny says he finishes fights? I hope he's professional so let's set it at 2?

Also, Tito will be back in action in May. The May 3rd card is rumored to potentially be in Mexico and Rampage said in a recent interview that he "loves Mexicans" so he might be on that card as well.

Posted

Oh man, seeing Tito's reaction when the Mexican crowd boos the shit out of him will be awesome.

And we'll likely find out through Ken-Flo on commentary that he'll be fighting the winner of Guida/Huerta for a top contender spot in 2008. If Sherk's appeal is denied the winner of that will fight the winner of Joe Daddy/BJ, if Sherk is cleared then the winner will likely be second in line for a title shot.

Posted

As I type this Sean Sherk is in a CSAC board room hearing the final results of his appeal. I read an interview with Sherk recently where he mentioned that UFC didn't even bother to call him to let him know they were doing BJ/Joe for the interim title which, if true is pretty fucking shitty on the part of the UFC. While I'm not exactly a Sherk fan it would be bad for the business for a UFC champion (especially one with the rep of Sherk) to be suspended for 'roids so I'm hoping he gets cleared.
