Randleman/Shogun was some dramatic-ass 2 minutes due to Kev's selling of the heelhook and then the kneebar.

I don't think Randleman has actually ever had a good fight. He's been apart of some really big moments in victory (KO of Cro-Cop, flying kneedrops on Japanese dude who's name fails me) and defeat (getting pounded into the mat by Rampage) but in terms of a fight that on an overall scale can be called "good" he's lacking.

Hot diggity damn! UFC's coming to Houston, tickets go on sale tomorrow at 10 AM, and I'm going. $50 upper deck tickets, but still...

The card doesn't look half-bad. The two confirmed fights are GSP vs. Matt Serra and Diego Sanchez vs. Josh Koschek with WW Title implications. Also on the rumored card is Clear Lake, TX resident Mike Swick vs. Yushin "A DQ win over Anderson Silva is still a win, right?" Okami, Joe Stevenson vs Caol Uno, and Heath Herring's second chance fight against somebody.

Nah, I like Okami from what I've seen of him. He's definitely a legitimate MW contender, but that Anderson Silva face-kick is, for better or for worse, the way that alot of people know of him...that and the fact that David Terrell is apparently scared shitless of him.

And that's why it's frustrating that the UFC has chosen not to air any of his fights. Granted, all have seen the third round and none have been barn burners, but he's largely dominated a pair of legit fighters in Belcher (who in turn is going to hurt Grove very badly) and Starnes (who already has a one round win over MacDonald), and thus is consequentally going into a very important fight against Swick with the average fan having absolutely no reason to care.

That's why I feel Starnes has gotten a raw deal from the UFC, and that he deserves to be built up through the ranks rather than being fed to someone like Okami. Word is he's gotten a three fight deal though, so that's cool.

Okami should smash Swick, who shouldn't have gotten past Loiseau.

Oh, THAT fight. Shit, I was thinking about Gono vs. Nilson de Castro for some reason :bonk:

If Starnes can find some heart to compliment his skill, I have no doubt he could be a force at MW.

Also, Swick will definitely be a tough fight for Okami, as he has better stand-up and can move on the ground. Okami's biggest advantage will probably be in the wrestling department, as he can likely take Swick down repeatedly and control the fight with G&P, as off his back Swick has shown a knack for reversing mount but not much else.

Dude, did you see the Starnes/Okami fight? The rib injury against Grove is one thing, but he broke pretty much the moment Okami took control, and offered absolutely nothing back as Okami easily finished him. For a a talented fighter who's used to taking out his opponents easily in the first round, it's not far off to assume that Startnes simply doesn't know how to adapt to adversity, and so simply quits to some extent when things aren't going his way. I like Kalib and hope he does well, but his quititude is somewhat proven at this point.

Though, at least he hasn't turned into a raging faggot like Cote.

Okami could possibly cut to 170, though it'd probably be pretty hard. He's said he's more comfortable as a MW, and could probably add some bulk to his frame and still make weight easily.

That being said, if he could handle the cut to 170, he'd pretty much instantly be a top contender IMO.

Watched UFC 52 today with Couture-Liddell 2. Who was the girl in the tight pink shirt hopping up and down in the background at the end? If that was Chuck's wife, good work my friend. That reaction from the crowd when Randy went down was otherworldly.
