Thanks to the greatness of YouTube I've been able to stumble across some really cool bands from other countries. Sure I don't have a clue what they are saying with the exception of the occasional phrase or word in English, but it's still pretty cool.

I've been on a Maximum the Hormone kick lately. A Japanese Punk Rock/Hip-Pop quartet, where they all will take turns on parts of the songs to be the vocalist all with different singing styles that add an interesting blend and give them a sound unlike anything I've heard stateside (granted I'm limited to basic radio airplay, and I'm in the middle of nowhere, so it ain't cutting edge stuff.)

Buiikikaesu

What's Up People?

Bikini Sports Ponchin

So lets hear what odd international flavor you've stumbled across.

I'll be back later to bust out some Brazilian music I heard wandering around in the streets down there.

SSOGE is an awesome folk/doom metal band from the Czech Republic. They have a unique sound, incorporating a string section and some clean female vocals. They mostly sing in English.

(But I did actually end up getting a Red Army Choir album)

OH SHIT! When they went into the Dirge song at the end I was freaking out. YES! This is what this thread was made for! THIS SHIT RIGHT HERE!

Silent Stream of Godless Elegy

I like

There's been two Spanish metal bands I've been touting for years. First is Tierra Santa, who plays very good Maiden-influenced metal (video 1

video 3)

The other is Mago De Oz, a Spanish folk metal band in the same vein as Skyclad. They have a mix of folk metal songs and straight-up folk songs, though I tend to prefer the former (video 1 video 2 video 3)

On the other side of the pond, there's metal from the Rising Sun, in the form of Loudness, who did have some minor hits stateside in the mid-80's with "Crazy Nights" and "Let it Go", but they had quite a few good songs beyond those.

Oh, and X-Japan, of course.

- Norwegian Supergroup that covers pop songs from the 80's and 90's. Great cover of Tina Turner's "We Don't Need Another Hero".

Nightwish - The get a lot of unfair flack due to their new singer not having the "opera" sound of their old singer, but I still enjoy them.

Kamelot - The frontman is Norwegian, but the rest of the group is from Tampa, Fla. They have a small but growing cult following here in the states, but they're fairly big overseas.

- Yet another Norwegian/German, Folk/Metal group. They're an acquired taste, but I enjoy them.

- Fairly unknown Finnish metal group. Good stuff, even if the video is cheesy as hell.

Reckless Tide - German modern thrash metal. Pretty solid stuff, though some of it is bland as hell, but the lead guitarist is a pretty attractive chick who can actually shred. Hot chicks + actual talent = win.

Send More Paramedics - British "Zombiecore" monsters who recently disbanded. Not everybody's cup of tea, and some of their songs are utter shyte, but when they're good they're good.

Short Sharp Shock - British thrashers. Vocally? A pain in the ass. Musically? Lovely, lovely old-school crossover style stuff.

Amputated - British porngrinders. Horrible. Atrocious. But somehow a great listen.

Destruction - Old-school German thrashers.

Evile - New-school Brit thrashers, with shit so good it sounds like it came straight out of the Bay Area in '86.

Kataklysm - Canadian death metallers who just flat-out don't know how to write a bad song.

Terror Fetus - Brazilian death/thrashers who sound eerily reminiscent of OLD Sepultura.

Boris. Really, these guys are great.

Church of Misery.

I'd mention Merzbow, but he's really an acquired taste (I also don't know if you could consider noise music, as it's usually looked at as the antithesis of music.)

Oh, and of course, Einsturzende Neubauten.
