They can take solace in the fact that Carlos Marmol has gone from a lights out pitcher to Jorge Julio in the span of about four weeks.

Difference is Cubs have the best record in baseball and a 5.5 game lead in the divison, 6 up on the Brewers. I really don't think both the Brewers and the Cards are going to outplay the Cubs after the all star break. Right now I think the Cubs will win the divison, but even if they don't I think they'll take the wildcard.

I have no doubt the Cubs will make it to October one way or the other. It's just unsettling the guy who was hands down their best reliever a few weeks ago has mutated into a guy incapable of preserving five-run leads.

I've tried to be positive about Andruw since he came back, but this motherfucker has GOT to GO. Five times up, five times struck out. He made it on base during one of those, but this shit is ridiculous.

I don't know how Ned Colletti has a job. It's better that he doesn't make any trades this deadline. Just let shit roll by and clean out your office after Game #162. If by some miracle this team gets into the playoffs, Game #166. I can't stand how poor this team is offensively.

Ugh...I was at Miller Park last night. I will give the Reds credit, they have a tremendous young pitcher in Edinson Volquez. I think the Brewers could have won, but their offense didn't show up last night. People were ripping the bullpen after the game, but when you only score 2 runs in 9 innings, you're probably not going to win an MLB ball game anyways.

Nice race in the NL East heading into the break!

Wow, no kidding. Philly is only a game up on the Marlins and Mets, all of them have 44 losses. Insane how the Mets crept back into contention.

A's blow it in the 9th against the Angels and blow the series. Two game swing there and now six back into the break. Yup, they were right to raise the white flag. Won't be surprised if the Rangers pass them before the month is over.

I was disappointed that the Reds couldn't sweep the Brewers today. That would have been a nice finish heading into the break: two games under .500 and 4.5 back from the Brewers. The Wild Card is not out of reach, but the odds are very slim that the Reds would win it.

Sabathia looked tremendous out there, throwing nasty pitches in the 9th while being at 122 pitches. So far, so good for CC:

15.0 IP, 4 ER, 14 K in his first two games.

Henry Rodriguez was probably the most impressive player today in the future's game. Dude threw 100 constantly, struck out 3 batters, and has an 86 MPH slider. If continues to improve his control, he'll be unhittable.
