sfaJack 0 Report post Posted July 17, 2008 Not only that, but "Deal or No Deal" is a fucking game show. There's nothing "reality" about it.
Corey_Lazarus 0 Report post Posted July 17, 2008 "Reality" show means gameshow now. Anything not involving a set script, basically. Road Rules? Game show. Big Brother? Game show. Survivor, Amazing Race, etc.? Game shows. Reality shows are just episodic documentaries, like Real World, Jon & Kate Plus 8, and just about everything else on TLC. Jingus 0 Report post Posted July 17, 2008 Geez, think 30 Rock got its cock sucked quite hard enough? Hey Emmys, I think I see a microscopic spot of jizz you missed, better get back down there with another Best Guest Star nomination. Of all episodes of King of the Hill, they pick the one where Cotton dies? Uh, no, that episode sucked. Badly structured and not funny even when it was trying to be. Good example of picking an episode for a major plot swerve rather than actual quality. And there's now three separate awards for Best Reality Whatever... yeah, not caring anymore. Craig Th 0 Report post Posted July 17, 2008 And no Friday Night Lights? Boooo. Other than that, not really any complaints. OH WAIT A MINUTE, NOTHING FOR THE SHIELD? Fuckin bullshit. Atticus Chaos 0 Report post Posted July 17, 2008 Good to see BSG get another writing nomination. Although, why it keeps getting nominated for writing, but never even makes the best drama shortlist is beyond me. I really hope James Spader doesn't win again. He's a great actor, but even he seemed embarressed when he beat Gandolfini and Laurie last year. I'd love to see Michael C Hall win for Dexter, but I think he's at a disadvantage because his role is a lot less show offy than the other roles in the category. He doesn't usually get to show off a full range of emotions because Dexter is often shown to be so cold and emotionless. Bryan Cranston deserves to win as well. Glenn Close will almost certainly win best actress.
Mecha Mummy 0 Report post Posted July 17, 2008 God, the continual snubbing of The Wire is appallingly lame. The fact that arguably the best TV drama of all time will at most maybe if they're lucky end up with a Best Writing award is ridiculous.

Zetterberg is God 0 Report post Posted July 17, 2008 Why is it that the better the Shield gets the less nominations it sees? Seriously, Walton Goggins is long overdue for at least a nomination. If they missed the nomination period that's one thing but otherwise it is getting criminally overlooked. And Jesus Christ Boston Legal, enough already. James Spader better not win again (Michael C. Hall should win but Jon Hamm and Hugh Laurie are probably the front runners).

Atticus Chaos 0 Report post Posted July 17, 2008 The reason Spader always wins is because he submits the episodes where Alan gets the big, dramatic over the top courtroom speeches which the emmy voters usually go for. The episode he submitted this year had one where he argued against the death penalty for child rape. And it was very good. So, I wouldn't write him off and say he can't possibly win again. imajackoff? 0 Report post Posted July 17, 2008 They had one last chance to make amends for the previous snubs of The Wire and they fucked it up. Seriously, how could they have been so fervently on The Sopranos' nuts for all those years, but not recognize The Wire? I just don't get it.
Youth N Asia 0 Report post Posted July 17, 2008 The awards sucked the Sopranos ass for years, when it was good, when it was bad, didn't matter. Also don't care for the Mad Men ball sucking...I've seen it, don't think it's great
Lord of The Curry 0 Report post Posted July 17, 2008 I'm pretty sure David Simon is happy with this result. I can see them viewing any nods Wire would've snagged as being pitied upon. Oh, and go Michael Emerson!
Atticus Chaos 0 Report post Posted July 17, 2008 Someone with entertainment weekly suggested the reason the wire kept getting snubbed because it was too realistic and too dark for the emmy people. Shows like Dexter and Lost are solely escapism, you can watch them and know that stuff isn't happening in the real world. The wire on the other hand... starvenger 0 Report post Posted July 18, 2008 When the hell is Chris Meloni going to get a nod for his work? He was great as Keller on OZ, and he's been great on L&O:SVU for years. Never as long as they keep giving Mariska some oral pleasure. Anyways, even I can't believe that they're doing a Reality Show Host category. And even moreso that Alton Brown wasn't nominated. Iron Chef IS a reality show, right? I suppose that Reality Show cameo is gonna be a category next year. As for reality competition, it's probably going to Amazing Race once again. The Mole came along too late in the nominations process, I think so there's nothing I see that would truly stands out to beat it.
strummer 0 Report post Posted July 18, 2008 Amy Poehler is the first castmember in the history of SNL to get a nomination in the actor/actress in a comedy category. all previous nominations were in the performance in a variety program category I read this off another board.
