Comments that don't warrant a thread

I know Venkman is gonna get on me for this but the wrestlers involved in the match isn't official yet. I would wait until ECW airs or WWE actually announces who is in the match before we start wondering why so and so wrestler is in the match and why so and so wrestler isn't in the match.

I agree with you 100% and am cleaning it up now.

Unless he makes more than 50,000 from Japan and the indies, no he is not.

Given Morishima's position in NOAH, it's a pretty safe bet he's making a fair bit more than $50,000 a year. Not only that, he gets several weeks off a year, gets trans and hotel paid for, and doesn't have to deal with a lot of the bullshit that he would if he were to go to WWE. If Morishima were to get a good push, and that's a very big if, he could earn comparable to what he's making in NOAH, but he'd probably wind up with less at the end of the day because of the expenses he's liable for. On the other hand, and this is the major lure a spot in WWE offers, if he does have a good run in WWE, or even a half-decent one, he's going to return to NOAH a much bigger star than when he left. Long-term, Morishima, and NOAH, might feel it worth taking the hit, because of the potential rewards, both to Morishima and NOAH.

Does anybody else think that WWE should call up current FCW trainer Norman Smiley?

I mean seriously, the Big Wiggle in a WWE ring, its the stuff of dreams.

Since their throwing out their usual jobbers ie: Richards; Delaney; Highlanders, etc, who better to fill the Horowitz void than Mr.Smiley himself?

Make it happen WWE :D

Actually I shot too low with the 50K figure. It should really be 100/150 K. I don't think Morishima makes that much. However, the whole expenses being paid for perk is probably going to make it seem comparable.

I'm not well-informed on Japanese economy, but I had assumed their stars were getting paid less in comparison to WWE workers, due to the schedule. Unless they are paid for their offseasons as well? This is a legitimate question.

If Norman Smiley was on shows, I would want him to get a push, as I have always liked the guy. He would get over huge with fans with his funny act. I don't know why WWE didn't pick him up back in 2001 during the buyout.

Paid in the "offseason" has nothing to do with it. A star of Morishima's calibur earns more and pays little when on the road.

And WWE would never be able to afford him the kind of money and perks that NOAH does right now. They would never be able to justify it.

This caught my eye on WWE.com's schedule. Everything is "WWE Presents..." except for one show in November.

"Buddy's Home Furnishings Presents Monday Night Raw".

No Stridex sponsors? Oh well, there's always next year.

Ha, I remember when WWE started having that company as a sponsor in 1997 for Summerslam I think.

I remember an ad from 95 with King Kong Bundy, so it may have started around that time.

Was Stridex the longest continuous sponsor of the company? It seems as if Stridex, Mars Co. (Snickers/M&M) Castrol GTX and Skittles have been/were around forever.

Domino's Pizza sponsored SummerSlam 94 but their logo wasn't plastered all over the place. I think Vince made exactly one commentary reference to it. Good enough though since we had a Dominator pizza at the SummerSlam party.

SummerSlam 95 has a big Stridex logo in the show's logo.

I remembered the 1996 Karate Fighters tournament (and recently relived it on 24/7) but had no memory of a 1997 edition until I searched for a youtube video of "Lazer Tag: The Mission to Save Marc Mero" after seeing it on 24/7. What a silly piece of business that was.

You forgot "The Undertaker" delivering a Domino's pizza to Leslie Nielsen during those awful skits that were intended to generate interest in the return of The Undertaker at that show. Remember the outdated Naked Gun madness that went down in the wake of the O.J. double-homicide charges? No, Domino's didn't sponsor the event- Domino's delivered SummerSlam live on pay-per-view!

Yeah, Stridex sponsored at least two SummerSlam events.

I actually made a mistake and didn't realize that ECW was taped on Monday. I just thought the F4W was posting speculation again and people were buying into it. :D

Considering americans like Nigel and American Dragon get paid thousands per tour, I am sure the main eventer and heavyweight champion gets paid a lot more than $50,000 per year.

On the subject of Stridex, I bought some back around 97 or 98, during the "Austin Boom/Attitude Era" just to get the Stone Cold Steve Austin trading card that was included in the package.

I always thought it was kind of random when something owned by WWE, such as ShopZone would be the PPV's "sponsor". One of my favorite sponsors just because of how they did the even't logo was Royal Rumble 2002, which was sponsored by Final Fantasy X. They had the RR logo done in the same font as the FFX logo, and stacked on top of eachother, they looked kind of neat.

Christian would be dumb to jump back to the WWE. Especially for Smackdown where you have two of the bigger "power" players over there, in addition to guys like Edge who's going to be given better spots over a guy who left the WWE for the competition. How he was pushed in his final months on Smackdown is probably how he'd be pushed in WWE again, and that's if he's lucky.

I really hope Tomko ends back up in TNA, as I felt sorry for the guy this year with TNA burying him after he was probably the best guy to watch on their shows last year.

Here's the deal guys, since this is now the second week this has happened: Don't talk about matches that are TV show spoilers in the CTDWAT thread.

Thank you! This is just one reason I'm glad you're the new mod. 909 has done a lot to improve the wrestling forums, but since he mods the whole board, it's nice to have someone focusing just on this one subsection.
