Lord of The Curry 0 Report post Posted November 2, 2008 Another Matt (Brown) to replace Riddle against Thomas.
Hunter's Torn Quad 0 Report post Posted November 7, 2008 Is anyone else feeling a complete lack of buzz with this match? This is the biggest match in the history of UFC but it sure doesn't feel like it right now. Maybe that'll change a little with the Countdown special, but the promotion for this fight has been shockingly underwhelming.
NoCalMike 0 Report post Posted November 7, 2008 For me personally I am on the verge of not even ordering it. I'll be watching it either way as there is a Hooters a block from my house, but when I look at how great the December card is, and with my finances tightening a little bit lately, if it comes down to making a choice, I will skip this PPV and order the December one. Hawkius Maximus 0 Report post Posted November 8, 2008 Meltzer's talked about the UFC's lack of hype for this show for a few weeks now. He thinks it's them finally being burned out from doing way too much between UFC and WEC. They had all kinds of things planned to make this show be huge. A three part Spike special for instance, but for whatever reason, UFC didn't do them. Meltz seems to think they now have a "we gotta build for this show too" mentality now instead of focusing on what should be their biggest one. The lack of buzz is incredible considering how this fight set the world on fire months ago.
BruteSquad_BRODY 0 Report post Posted November 8, 2008 Well the undercard is unremarkable, and UFCWrestlemania is 5 (6?) weeks after this
Lord of The Curry 0 Report post Posted November 8, 2008 I'm kinda shocked that none of the previews (or at least ones I've seen) haven't hyped up Kenny vs Joe more as that fight is, IIRC for the next shot against Penn after GSP sends him back to 155. Lt. Al Giardello 0 Report post Posted November 8, 2008 after GSP sends him back to 155. Don't be so confident, it's going to hurt more when BJ wrecks his face again.
Mik 0 Report post Posted November 8, 2008 Not only that but BJ can't fight Stevenson again. UFC 80 was a first class fucking beat down. Florian, yeah. Stevenson, no.
HollywoodSpikeJenkins 0 Report post Posted November 8, 2008 I understand why Ken-Flo needs another opponent before getting a title shot after that Huerta fight, but why Stevenson? He has had one fight since being murdered by BJ and he looked scared/completely out of his game at that.
Youth N Asia 0 Report post Posted November 8, 2008 Yeah, I believe Kenny has placed himself in the #1 contender role, but if he loses to Stevenson then it's gone. If Kenny loses what do you have. BJ's destroyed Stevenson BJ beat Sherk soundly Sherk beat Griffin If Kenny does something to blow his #1 contender spot then the LW division doesn't have a legit guy at #

He has had one fight since being murdered by BJ and he looked scared/completely out of his game at that. He got caught in omoplata that Tibeau did nothing with for 2 and a half minutes and then guillotined him soundly. At what point was he scared or out of his game? HollywoodSpikeJenkins 0 Report post Posted November 8, 2008 He looked like he was holding back in the first round. He was not the same fighter in that fight that he was before the Penn loss.
Lord of The Curry 0 Report post Posted November 8, 2008 Any guy coming off that bad of a tooling would be tenative to start and it's not like Joe has been the king of fireworks in the first round of the fight. I think the fact that he remaind calm (and almost comical) during the omoplata and submitted a guy who up to that point had never been tapped is a plus. Cuban Linx 0 Report post Posted November 9, 2008 If Florian loses Nate Diaz would probably be the #1 contender by default. Five straight wins (eight if you count the Emerson/Hill/Maynard fights on TUF), he hasn't fought any of the top guys but he's the only guy consistently winning, everyone else has at least one loss in the same timeframe. Lord of The Curry 0 Report post Posted November 9, 2008 Sadly as much as I luvs Clay I think Joe, Sherk or Kenny would all beat him. Not to say I wouldn't be rooting for him in any of those fights.
BruteSquad_BRODY 0 Report post Posted November 10, 2008 I'm stoked for the Main Event suddenly all over again... Going to have a bunch of people over, gobble booze and pizza and watch the Matador and the Bull. (TM Dave Meltz)

Stevenson, no. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M0Qr5b2mzxg A first class beat down indeed. Though the music the guy who uploaded this selected made me laugh while wincing at the murderlizing BJ was dishing out. Yikes.
Mik 0 Report post Posted November 10, 2008 UFC 91 Countdown premieres tonight at 11pm. They pussied out and scrapped the 24/7 style type hype shows but my guide has an All Access on both Brock and Randy listed for Thursday night. I'm not clear, however, if they are new episodes or repeats of previous All Access on each guy.
NoCalMike 0 Report post Posted November 11, 2008 Well now that I have a new job starting tomorrow, it is safe to say that I will be buying this PPV. It was in jeopardy as I knew for sure they December one was being purchased, so this one almost was going to be watched at the sportsbar to save a little cash, but alas, I have a job!!! GAME ON!!!! Lord of The Curry 0 Report post Posted November 11, 2008 More like late 2009/early 2010 assuming Brock wins and succesfully defends. UFC has a boner the size of Brock's chest tatoo for Carwin and Velasquez and with Werdum gone they both have moved much closer to title shots before as Fabricio certainly would've been set for one in early 2009 had he not got KTFO'd. Lord of The Curry 0 Report post Posted November 11, 2008 In a move that pleases me greatly Amir Sadollah has been injured* and his fight has been cancelled. McCrory vs Hazlett has been bumped to the main card. *I like Amir but I really wanted Barn Cat vs McLovin' on the main card.

Lord of The Curry 0 Report post Posted November 11, 2008 Unless we got a show full of decisions I think it would've been UFC's first choice to air but it's nice to know we'll be seeing it for sure now.
