NFL Week Four

Recommended Posts

One good special teams play on that Sproles kickoff would've helped out a lot. Kiffin's a goner.

But the guy who put the defense that allowed 22 points or so in one quarter gets to be the next head coach?

Yeah, that's what I was thinking too. Besides, Kiffin's not getting fired because Big Al doesn't want to pay him. He wants to make Kiffin so miserable he'll quit, but good on Lane for basically giving him the finger on that front.

Assuming first place in the NFC East while on a bye is pretty nice. That win over the Redskins looks more impressive now.

The only remaining undefeated teams are Buffalo, Baltimore, The Giants, and Tennessee. Who the hell saw that coming?

I don't think he should be the head coach, but that was not his fault. The Chargers had 10 of those points handed to them. A fumble and a good kick return. After those 10, I don't think the defense gave a shit. The defense was pretty good most of the day, but they got tired as a result of offensive ineptitude. Playcalling specifically. I can't be too mad at them.

Did the Giants lose during the bye week or are you just disrespecting the champs? Did the league not learn their lesson last year?

Did some of the Patriots rub off on you guys when you were putting them in the dirt last February?

I hope not. I actually like the fact that with the exception of Plax there aren't many (potential) idiots on the team anymore. I just don't remember any championship team ever being so completely overlooked because of another team in their division, especially when the champs won at that other team's house in the prior postseason. I don't think the Giants will win the division, but being 3-0 and a 1/2 game in front is a great start to the season. If they can get to 6-0 then they just need a .500 finish to get a WC which is what I was hoping for before the season began.

Ughhh, what a crushing loss by the Raiders today. Blowing a 15pt halftime is obviously bad, but when your defense is out on the field for most the half things like that tend to happen, when the offense can't muster a drive for more than three downs.

I can't really be too upset, because the Chargers were supposed to win the game anyway, and hey we were COMPETITIVE the whole game. This team has the talent to win some games, but haven't learned to put it all together for the W just yet. After the Denver game, I thought this would be another long season, but these last three games, I have really felt the Raiders are on the rebound for the better. 1-3 is obviousbly poor, but I like the effort and play by the defense. And if JaMarcus to more comfortable in the pocket and improve his accuracy, I think the offense will be much improved by seasons end. Hate to go into the bye week, with a loss, but the Raiders can be proud of their effort put forth in the season so far.

As far as Lane Kiffin goes, its been no secret that I think he's not a good head coach (yet) and have been frustrated with him, but I have to respect the fact he comes to work everyday under stressful circumstances and prepares the team to play its heart out. The effort and intensity has been noticed and for that I can give him the credit. If anything, I just wish things were handled differently between Al and Lane, but I can't control that. Hopefully the players stick up for him, because while I HATE his playcalling, the team plays hard for him no matter what. Hey, I think I just complemented Lane Kiffin. If he is going to be fired, just do it now I guess.

Anyways, there are things to be improved upon, but I look forward to the Saints in twp weeks. Hopefully the good effort can turn into a W for once.

I guess I don't buy the Giants at all because they were major underdogs last year, their best defensive player retired, and their other one is out for the year with an injury. They almost didn't make the playoffs on their way to that incredible run, y'know. My omission of them in that list of players was just forgetfulness.

I'm officially no longer caring about Bills games until the 4th quarter for the rest of the year.

This week they scored 18 to win by 17

Last week they scored 17 to win by 1

Two weeks ago they scored 10 to win by 4

I guess they're a 4th quarter team.

Which is quite refreshing since it was the complete opposite (i.e. starting games hot and then crumbling) for much of the past few years.

What's funny is that the whole time the Bills were down by 8 my friends and I were joking that they just had to wait until the 4th quarter (after what happened last week).

Then as soon as the quarter started Greer took an INT for a TD and they never looked back.

...

As was pointed out on the Bills postgame show... Fred Jackson scored a 22 yard TD (and he wears #22) and Greer had a 33 yard TD (and he wears #33). I find this fact both meaningless...and tremendous.

I dunno if the Cowboys coaching staff panicked too much to early, but 9 Carries for Barber? 0 for Felix Jones? WTF....? I know the Skins have had success against Barber (I believe he has never rushed for more than 45 yards vs) but 8 carries is unexcusable. Maybe Garrett though they could exploit the Cover 2, but then again Springs was playing TO man-to-man most of the game so it wasn't really a true "Tampa Cover 2" defense.

I am also suprised Dallas's front seven didn't have more success against the Skins run game. Portis had 121 yards. After the Redskins first three series on offense, I was ready to suffocate myself under my own pillow at the play of the O-line. Bugel must have fed them something good on the sidelines, because for the rest of the game they played decent, and on any of the isolated plays they didn't, Campbell was able to use his playmaking ability to escape pressure.

Redskins leaving a few scores on the field was dissapointing.

I guess I am also pretty shocked the Skins secondary played so well considering their pass rush was almost non-existant. They hit Romo a couple of times, but it was after the ball had been thrown. They always seemed a second too late, but somehow they held the big plays in check (until they switched to prevent late in the game)

Nice win Skins.

If that comes to mind before him running around the Superdome with helmet waving in hand, I feel bad for you.

I was 13 when that happened, and had been watching football maybe 4, 5 years or so. The other one just happened last year and it was Favre's last pass as a Green Bay Packer.

I'll say this much though, and I know every other cheesehead out there is thinking it, but days like today and like last week make me wonder how much better off or worse we would be had he come back to the team. Last week I figured the outcome would be about the same, but today I'm not so sure.

Yeah, bend but don't break, you geriatric asswipes. Way to get torched and eliminate any possible momentum from that great Orton drive. Ugh. This is an 8-8 team AT BEST.

I would hope that most people would think the same as I do, that the change from Favre to Rodgers was made for success in years to come, not necessarily this year.

I agree, but the thing that worries me is how badly this will play on Aaron Rodgers' psyche if some of the fans, who were already extremely wary of him to begin with (little kids heckling him during training camp?! come on!) turn on him completely.

On a sidenote, who the fuck actually wants to win the NFC North this year? No actual team in the division seems like they care, but then again GB, CHI, and MIN all are going through the toughest part of their schedules right now.

Right, but it also isn't etched in stone that Aaron Rodgers is going to be a good NFL QB yet. A couple games with good stats doesn't mean anything. I agree that he is a long term solution, not the 2008 Savior, however just because he has been picked as a long term solution, doesn't mean he will become that.

From somebody who's actually seen them play this year: Is Houston better than their 0-3 record? Wasn't this supposed to be the breakthrough year for them to pass .500 and have a winning season?
