As long as you don't have to talk to one personally, I think they're entertaining enough. I don't get why some pepole get so upset about 9/11 Truthers when no one in the relevant political spectrum takes them seriously.

 

Yeah, but we've all run into those seemingly smart average people who have bought into at least some of their crap. That's the frustrating part.

 

They do tend it ruin it for the pepole who realize the goverment almost never tells the whole truth and often out right lies. Just make blanket statments like that and some pepole react like, OMG break out the tin foil hat LOLz.

And hell, if it is, then the government has failed us. But that's why we have elections, don't we.

He'll be throughly fellated up until Inaguration Day but once he actually has to do the job he'll probably be mocked, but not in the harsh way Bush was. It'll be more a Clinton-like "Oh ho ho, that rapscalion" instead of a Bush-like "What a fucking idiot". If the Democrats just spin their wheels and nothing gets done, then it'll get fun.

WASHINGTON – Animals and plants in danger of becoming extinct could lose the protection of government experts who make sure that dams, highways and other projects don't pose a threat, under a regulation the Bush administration is set to put in place before President-elect Obama can reverse them.

 

The rules must be published Friday to take effect before Obama is sworn in Jan. 20. Otherwise, he can undo them with the stroke of a pen.

Disagree if you want...but Bush right now has the government overextending itself into the role of the economy in ways not even FDR did. At least Roosevelt used the government to create jobs and help people out. Bush is throwing money at corporations, asking the government to invest in failed mortgages, stuck its hands out into the financial industry, and now even though the Senate (and a good amount of Americans) have said no to the bailout as is to the automotive company, he's now going to just give money to the automotive industry.

 

I understand something has to be done to halt the slide into another Great Depression, but there has to be better alternatives than just handing out money to everyone, especially money our country doesn't have right now. Plus, it almost seems to me the government is hand-choosing which companies to prop up and which ones to let slide. Citigroup and AIG get to survive, and they allowed Wachovia, Lehman Brothers, and Washington Mutual to go by the wayside. The government and especially the Treasury have way too much power right now and are way too involved in the economy to be considered capitalist.

 

Plus, it's clearly not working. So Obama will have himself one hell of a mess when he gets in.

By the way, WaMu got picked up by Chase, they didn't need to bail them out.

 

To say it's "clearly not working" is false. The bailout wasn't supposed to make the economy great again, it was a preventative measure against letting the credit crisis take any further casualties. The new capital is going to take time to take effect, and you can't just buy confidence.
