10/8: Week 5 Pickkks

Here we go for my Week 5 pickkks:   Buffalo at Chicago (7.5) After their thrashing of the Seahawks, many have now labeled the Bears as the NFL’s team to beat. With that distinction now given to the Monsters of the Midway, I’m taking Buffalo.   Cleveland at Carolina (8.5) I’m trying to decide which Cleveland Browns team will show up. Will it be the one that snatched victory from the jaws of defeat at Oakland, or the one that snatched defeat from the jaws of victory versus Baltimore? Wel

10/7: Garage Sales Make Me Say Ugh

One of the things that really sucks about being an adult is your “days off” and “vacations” aren’t quite the same as they were when you were a kid. I had Thursday and Friday of this week off from work, and what did I do? On Thursday, I spent the afternoon doing yard work, and on Friday I spent most of the day cleaning the house. No goofing around; no playing video games (much); no going over to a friend’s house (provided I had any) to goof around and play video games. Nothing. And it only got wo

Similarity Scores

SS- Jim Fregosi CF- Alex Ochoa 2B- Alfonso Soriano 1B- Norm Cash RF- Leon Roberts LF- Gil Hodges C- Jason Varitek 3B- Billy Ripken P- Brad Radke   What kind of lineup is that? If similiarity scores have merit, it is a similar lineup to one posted by the Philadelphia Phillies down the stretch. Similarity scores seek to compare two players' statistics and measure their comparability. A score of 1000 would indicate two players who are exactly alike. Scores under 900 indicate

Sometimes I dont Get Vince. (and other things)

(Note: I havent been around and the reason being is that I am starting a Animation Production Company- Garou Gothic. And so that has been taken a lot of my time.)   This is from PWInisder:       Wow.   Im stunned. Utterlly Stunned. First lets go back what he stated about ECW. One, he was honest about it. Basicly I was left without a clue on where they were going to do with ECW after the Summerslam PPV. But after the deal, they went Taped, TEST (TEST...TEST?) and Bob Holly had grea

Tall Stacks. Football

This was a pretty fast week that I didn’t really realize had passed but it was fairly enjoyable in spite of getting into the groove of a easy yet enjoyable job and general happiness in life.   The big “deal” is TALL STACKS. If anyone isn’t familiar with this event, it’s a bi-annual ceremony of riverboats converging onto the riverbank for a ton of concerts (mostly country, folk and some indy rock acts), food and historic stuff along with big fucking boats. It’s a pretty big tourist attraction

Finally

I never got to truly appreciate the A's run in the late 80's and early 90's because really as a kid how can you appreciate or understand the major accomplishments of your favorite sports team? I was spoiled rotten by the A's and 49ers to point that I pretty much expected my teams to always be in the hunt for championships. I was 12 years old when the A's beat the Red Sox 3-1 in Game 4 of the 1990 ALCS to sweep that series and win their third straight A.L. pennant. That game of course is best kno

10/6: Remembering Neighbors, Dreams

• Well yesterday was a bit of a bummer. I spent more than four hours mowing a lawn I had slacked off on for some time, and the grass was too thick to be picked up by my hippie mower. In order not to have huge clumps of foliage scattered throughout my property I had to rake these clippings and manually bag them. Four-plus hours and seven trash bags later, I was finally done. As I was finishing up, my neighbor’s son was doing some yard work for his parents. (You might remember me talking about my

10/5: #52, A Touching Excuse

KKK’s Top 103 Posters   Number 52: The Max   This guy had a fling with another poster at this place, and from what I remember she was going to move to his region of the country and live happily ever after. Well, I don’t know what happened to happily ever after, but I’m sure that relationship wasn’t as messy as the aftermath of Hurricane Chuck. Also, he’s more than accommodating when you’re asking questions about NHL ’06.   • I heard on the radio the other day that with the NHL regula

Funny/Not Funny

-Funny: Last nights episode of South Park. I never played an MMORPG or whatever those things are called, but last nights episode was great. Also, it made fun of idiots who use phrases like "noob" and "pwned". I know I'll sound like an old man, but come on people, speak fucking english   -Not Funny: Freakshow. I really wanted to like this show, and while there were some amusing aspects, it just didn't work. A shame really, since it's from David Cross.   -Funny: The whole Mark Foley scandel.

2006 Player Rankings: Designated Hitters

For those who don't remember here were my 2004 and 2005 player rankings I posted on the forums.   2004   2005   These rankings are purely based on what the player did this past season. Past performance and potential future value are not taken into account. For hitters I take into account five statiscal compotents: OPS, Value Over Replacment Player (VORP), Equivalent Average (EQA), Runs Created, and Win Shares.   Now with the regular position lists I take the top 30 players at each p

10/3: Week 4 Pickkk Results

I’m almost afraid to see what teams I picked this week after seeing some scores that came out of my kkk Bowl IV contest, but nevertheless on with the show.   Arizona at Atlanta. Correct. I was sweating a bit when that Cardinals defender returned an interception 99 yards for a touchdown, but then Atlanta scored a whole bunch of points to put me at ease.   Dallas at Tennessee. Correct. I had hoped Dallas would cover the spread, but I didn’t expect this to be a BUTT-kicking. And regarding

Mark Foley: Professional Pedophile

-It seems like Republican senator Mark Foley is a pedophile. First things first: when's kkktookmybabyaway going to call me a liberal terrorist for thinking he's a sicko? Also, I originally read it as Mick Foley, so I'm actually glad it's not Mick. Which reminds me: I'm suprised Vince hasn't created a pedophile gimmick. Granted, there's noted pedophiles working for him (Lawler), but I'm still suprised. You'd think after sex with transexuals and necrophillia, pedophillia would be next.   -Meije

Home. Her Parents. Baseball

I’m still groggy. Not physically, but more mentally. Lethargic, is probably the most appropriate description. It comes and goes, always has for me. Usually there’s a trigger but in this instance, I’m happy in theory (new job, steady new relationship that is still fresh, doing great in school).   I even redesigned/arranged my room out of complete boredom. It made me wonder, while a good move financially to leave the campus and stay home. I think it had more psychological damage then I had

Bored's 2006 MLB Awards

For my 100th entry I originally planned on doing a comprehensive list of the 100 Greatest Oakland A's players of all-time and wouldn't just be simply be a career list of Win Shares as that wouldn't really work. I never got Bored enough to start working on it though so maybe sometime in the offseason I'll get around to it. But I guess doing my awards for the 2006 season works as an 100th entry since I've been tracking the MVP award most of the year and I'm sure the three of you are on the edge of

10/2: Baseball Thoughts (Or Lack Thereof)

Who needs the pseudo-experts at this place with their fancy smancy win-share totals and minor-league reports when you've got Al kkkeiper here to give you the hook-up. Here's some baseball stuff that popped into my head in the last hour or so. You've been warned.   • The Houston Astros had a chance to get into the postseason, thanks to a late-season surge up the N.L. Central. They came up short in the last weekend of play, which made me curious as to how many one-run games they lost this year.

73. More degenerative gambling!

73.   Last week was still a success, but a disappointment after my perfect 9/22-23 week. Ohio St. and Navy won 2 of my big 3 bets, so I still came out in the positive.   Bets this week so far (I'll probably have some O/U by the weekend):   Hawaii (-9) vs. Nevada - 1 unit.   Historically, the home team dominates this series. I don't see anything different here. And I think Nevada is overrated by many because of the NW and UNLV blowout win. And Hawaii is underrated, since they lost two

College Football Wrap Up 10/1

What if a day of college football passed without anything interesting happening? Would it make a sound?   Game of the Day: Illinois 23, Michigan State 20. Woof. Texas Tech/Texas A&M was probably better I'm guessing but I only saw the end of that game when ABC put us on the west coast finally out of our misery by pulling Oregon's live rape of ASU's defense. My local Comcast Sportsnet picks up the 4th tier Big Ten game that gets thrown on ESPN+ and these games usually end up being more ente

10/1: Koala Love, Government Hate

• A few days ago I was ragging on Shittsburgh’s Port Authority because they were, once again, whining about how they would have to raise fares if they didn’t get more tax money to keep their inefficient public transportation system chugging along. In that same entry, I also goofed on how the Allegheny County Council wanted to pass a public smoking ban. Well, as I was driving through this pristine city on the way to pick up the better half from her job, I realized that I probably inhale more exha
