WWE General Discussion - January 2008
PILLS! PILLS! PILLS! replied to Prophet of Mike Zagurski's topic in The WWE Folder
The new HD set is all video.. why bother wasting time creating 3 new sets?? When this one can be customized just by changing the graphics and lightning? They save money and time. Because World Wrestling Entertainment has more than enough money for three sets, that's why... But, for the sake of argument, let's just say that the exeunt of Bobby Lashley would pay for another set or two if they truly needed them... -

Shock of Being by Make Believe. I have been told that they put another album out well over a year ago, but I haven't heard it. Falling back in love with Age of Octeen by Braid and When I Was Born For the 7th Time by Cornershop. Same thing with Social Distortion's s/t album.

77. Andre the Giant will never endorse Bobby Lashley.

Pillman and Sullivan never had any legitimate heat. He left because it was only a matter of time before Hogan squashed him and hurt his character. Hogan heard Pillman's reaction when he came out of the crowd at a Nitro in March 1996 after he had been fired, and wanted to pin Pillman at the end of the triple-cage shit-fest at Uncensored '96, and Pillman saw it for what it was.

69. Lashley was never fed salt peter by Shane McMahon.

Worst Excuse for a Face Turn
PILLS! PILLS! PILLS! replied to zappafrank's topic in General Wrestling
I'm pretty sure that Vader was retaliating for an unprovoked attack that the Hart Foundation administered to him a week or two prior (Friday Night's Main Event?) where Vader was just in the wrong place at the right time. -
61. Lashley has never had a WWF Hasbro action figure, let alone two... you can't top that...

I abhor Limp Bizkit, but I must admit that song is an important part of X-Seven. The Austin heel turn was brilliant. The pre-match zoom out of Austin's reflection in the mirror, Howard Finkel announcing that the main event was No Disqualification with Ross and Lawler like "WTF?!? When did that happen?" and Austin jumping the Rock before the bell rang... Austin was turning heel long before Vince showed up during the match, and nobody caught on until the end.

41. Lashley has never risen from the dead after being lynched by a group of vampires... and perhaps it is in better taste that he has not...

Yes! Also: - The "Hot Rod and the Hot Scot" at WrestleMania VI... yep, I mark out for it. - Tito Santana greeting Reba McIntyre at WrestleMania VIII, with Heenan saying "It's his sister, it's Arrriba McIntyre!" - The person in the crowd at WrestleMania 13 holding up a big sign that read: "ASS" - Also at WM13, the sign shaped like a pair of scissors that read "SID/ARN" - The Rock wearing Austin's vest at WMXIX - The wide shot at WrestleMania XX of Shawn standing on the announcer's table with Hunter standing in the ring (or, do I have that backwards?) motioning for him to "bring it on"

Well, I guess that I have to post this again. And fuck me for not illustrating my love of Andre choking the shit out of Mr. baseball. "Some guy named Vance White."

Worst excuse for a heel turn
PILLS! PILLS! PILLS! replied to Epic Reine's topic in General Wrestling
Yeah, that was incredibly retarded. They could have just eased him back into a heel position by having him tell the fans off or... something that truly justified his being painted as a heel. Being close-knit with the freshly turned Vince allowed it to make sense shortly thereafter, but that was still a stupid turn. -
Unsung WrestleMania moments that I personally love. - Run DMC performing the "WrestleMania Rap" in Atlantic City. - The camera following the Blue Blazer for what seems like an eternity all the way to the ring at WrestleMania V - The Bolsheviks and Steve Allen with a piano in the men's room at WrestleMania VI. We can't even pin this one on Vince Russo. - Two Doinks at WrestleMania IX. FTW! - Todd Pettengill in a toga drenched with beer interviewing people in the crowd. Like watching MTV Spring Break or something. Yokozuna #1! - WrestleMania X was one of the features of my thirteenth birthday party, so every minute of it was special for me. Best opening match for any card, ever! - I think that Jarrett vs. Ramon is likely the most underrated WrestleMania match that I can think of. - Any of Pete Rose's appearances. I was sick about the fact that he didn't show up at X-Seven. - Motorhead showing up at WrestleMania X-Seven was the shit. I didn't know about it in advance (did the WWF advertise it?), so I marked out hard. - DDP and Edge both competing in the SkyDome at WrestleMania X8, twelve years after they were both there in a spectator/limo driver capacity. - The ladders on fire during Kane's entrance at WrestleMania 21. I like fire. - The Chicago crowd for WrestleMania 22 made the event so much more fun, especially Trish/Mickie and HHH/Cena. - Anybody else love MVP's entrance at WM23 last year? I did!

Well... it's still better than Lashley or Vince as champion. -

Apples and oranges. Mikey Whipwreck would be a more suitable comparison. -

When they aired his initial promo I kinda didn't know what to make of him, but he appears to be pretty talented. Perhaps I'm rushing to judgment, but out of the three networks that carry WWE programming, wouldn't CW or USA have a larger African American audience then the Sci Fi Network? Oh shit, Colin Delaney is back on. I gotta go. -

Anybody else notice that the Hardy-Orton graphic got the biggest reaction from the crowd? -

I really liked him. ECW needs more black people. -
Except that was in the UK. And Hart-Bulldog did headline a PPV later that year, garnering a 0.3, so yes they could have done worse than a 1.3 buyrate. Michaels/Diesel was the best bet that they had at the time, and, even then, that was not advertised as the headlining program.

Best Rumble comedy spot ever was '91 when one of the Bushwhackers enters doing the whole Bushwhacker arm motion... Greg Valentine watches him enter, grabs him, chunks him over the rope, and the Bushwhacker keeps doing the arm motion back to the locker room as if nothing happened. I remember my parents pointing out that a cameraman could be seen cracking up at that spot. I thought it was Earthquake that did that to Luke. It was.
