Can someone elaborate on the "Absolute" format? I probably won't buy it, since I already have a DC HC edition, but it's good for future reference...

Help me out - was that the Torture Rack-to-neckbreaker?
-
I'd say Tank Girl, but it's already out...

I'm assuming he came up through D'Amore's BCW, so that makes sense. Getting back to Walls of Jericho, it makes some sense. The Walls of Jericho came tumbling down, and the same thing (in theory) would happen to an opponent's back.

If Luke knew who Anikan really was
starvenger replied to Steve J. Rogers's topic in Television & Film
Yeah, must be why Lucas took the Sith mythology from the EU. And from Kevin J Anderson, of all people. Anyways, I'd agree that there is a lot of shitty EU stuff, but when it's good, it's damn good. -
Can't say I blame you.

Thought Gays in Space was funny even though it was pretty stereotypical. Watercooler - When Horation Sanz is not the worst thing about the sketch, there's a serious problem. The worst thing about the sketch was that it was totally predictable, didn't seem to have a real point and it dragged on and on. Gwen Stefani - yes she's flat chested but she's still cute. And I'd ever noticed this before, but her legs aren't that bad, either. Overall though, No Doubt > Gwen Stefani solo project.

If you were the cynical type, you could say so. Me, I think that if Rob was gonna propose, that was pretty much the best time to do it. Regardless, I'm sure that there'll be a prenup.

Joss Whedon confirmed for Wonder Woman movie
starvenger replied to pochorenella's topic in Television & Film
For me personally, there wasn't one specific thing that I can point out, but the whole thing just felt flat. Similar to Be Cool, all the elements are there, but it didn't come together for me. There are people that would deny that, you know. Or say "it's much more than that", when really, it's not, and it wasn't meant to be. I think that secondary market success is a given because of the fanbase, but I dunno if $60 (domestic) is realistic at the box office. But again, I don't think that how it does at the box office matters - this was a movie that was made for the fans (and because of the fans). Ticket sales are secondary here. -
Next Men was excellent and ahead of its time. Many of the story elements from Next Men have appeared and reappeared in other science fiction TV shows, movies, and comics since it was published, thus diluting the effectiveness of the original series. However, for when it was publish, the series was simply great. Wasn't Next Men part of Byrne's pitch for the (original) 2099 line? IIRC, that was supposed to be Byrne's baby but for whatever reason they went a different direction with it.

I think that was actually the point. Wasn't a finisher though - Dude kicked the opponent in the shins to setup the Double Arm DDT. Speaking of which, add StevieT to the list.

Funky Flash Splash = 450 splash I second Sliced Bread #2, as well as the F.U. Both names make sense , but it doesn't take away from the shittiness of the name. On top of that, the F.U. is a shitty finisher. Also in that vein, Catatonic.

Joss Whedon confirmed for Wonder Woman movie
starvenger replied to pochorenella's topic in Television & Film
I never understood why more people didn't dig Firefly. Off the top of my head, a bad timeslot and the fact that it was essentially a "space western" (you can say that it wasn't, but if it looks like a duck and walks like a duck...) would immediately make it a hard sell to viewers. And yet Joss sold the Fox execs on it. -

The fact that he writes comic books won't translate into movie watchers, seeing as he writes Astonishing X-Men. And I have no doubt that his fans will watch the movie, but the key is to get the regular moviegoing public to buy tickets. Which I'm not sure he can do. To be honest, I don't think it matters. This was done more for the benefit of Firefly/Mutant Enemy fans than for box office rewards, and anything after getting the movie done and in theatres would probably be considered gravy to the fans. Personally? I think the movie will do very poorly. I didn't think Firefly was particularly good to begin with, and I just can't see a poor TV property doing well on the big screen (although I'm sure it's not unprecedented). Just my opinion though. -

Seeing as he's the director as well this time, I suppose he's ultimately responsible for whether the movie's a turd or not. If it's a turd, I'm sure excuses will be made. Ready made one - it's Joel Silver's fault -

Another point to consider, she did that Stuff Magazine spread way back when gratis.

D'oh! You're right. Sandra was pretty much in a "sure win" position, not a win/win.

If Luke knew who Anikan really was
starvenger replied to Steve J. Rogers's topic in Television & Film
He's supposed to be good in Shattered Glass. It could be that Christiansen has problems acting in front of a blue screen, or that Lucas is too dictatorial a director, something else. -
Oh, and did anyone catch Steph say "I'm Sorry" when she wrote down Angie's name?
-
You could actually argue that Sandra was in that position - noone was gonna vote the Outcast to win.
-
He should have, but he pissed off too many people. He just happened to get engaged to the winner. He still lost. Yep. He really underestimated the power of bitterness on All-Stars. Ironically, this is probably the same reason that Vecepia won Marquesas, the show Rob was originally on.

Jay Lovinger at ESPN Page 2 made a great point. Aside from Lederer and Dan Harrington, most of the top players are really agressive. Actually, I think that Harrington is underrated. He's not a flashy player, but he uses his "Action Dan" moniker to great effect when he wants to steal pots. And anyone who has made both final tables the last two years at the WSoP has my respect.

Aren't retcons fun? -
Good points, but I still think that ep 2 > ep 1, because the "romance" (can you call it that when one channels Christopher Walken (in Pulp Fiction) in order to act romantic?) is the main focus of Act 2 (or was it 3?) and thus easily skipped over, while Jar Jar is kinda just there throughout the movie, so his 5% feels more like 95%. In short, that they have different types of suck, and I think that having the suck all in on area is better than spreading it around. Just my opinion though. You like ep 1 better, all power to ya.
