    Marvel = WWE

Just get Robert Rodriguez to direct it. I want to see a movie from this studio before I dismiss this deal as dumb. Hopefully, the material will be good.
  2. I loved watching Gilligan's Island on FOX syndication in the afternoons. He looked frail over the past several years though so this isn't too shocking, to me, to hear about. RIP Bob Denver.
  3. Skip Bayless hates black people. Maybe... That said, Bayless is a shit disturber to the nth degree in sports "journalism" and loves hating on good or popular things just for the sake of it. He's horrible to listen to whenever I see his skin stretched face on ESPN. I'd love to heave a brick at him just once. I'm saying it again: Mike Vick and the Falcons are going to take their division. Let Mike run all day if he wants to just as long as the team wins in the end. Winning is what matters. Stats be damned. Ask Barry Sanders and Dan Marino how far stats can get you to winning a Superbowl. Mike can throw *and* run, which makes him a double threat to defenders. That's not a bad thing. "JUST WIN BABY!"

    X-Men Legends II

Via Marvel Directory: Apocalypse's powers: Apocalypse is a mutant who possesses superhuman strength which he can augment by psionically drawing on outside energy sources. Apocalypse can alter the atomic structure of his body at will in order to change his form. He can even increase his size by taking on additional mass from a presumably extra-dimensional source. Through his ability to alter his form, Apocalypse can give himself virtually any superhuman physical power. Apocalypse's "costume" is actually part of his body, and he can psionically alter its appearance at will. He can levitate himself telekinetically. Apocalypse has an extraordinarily long life span that has already lasted thousands of years. He can survive for weeks without food or water and can rapidly recover from injuries that would prove fatal to normal human beings. In the future, however, his physical form will eventually grow too aged and enfeebled to contain his vast superhuman energies. Hence, he will transfer his consciousness and powers into a succession of host bodies, abandoning each one when it too grows too old to contain his power.
  5. Give that man an Oscar then! Oh, wait, the Academy doesn't give out awards to stunt folks...
  6. Yeah, the Utah Jazz, is one of the funnier ironies in the NBA.
  7. The dame here speaks the truth. That said, Hardy's a fool if he tries to hook back up with his ex-skeeze. Move on man.
  8. If Tom Benson has his way, the Saints will be playing in San Antonio. He'll have to change the name though. Saints just ain't a Texas themed name.

    Jerry Rice retires

Good bye Mr.Phenom. You defied the longevity odds in the NFL and any young rookie lucky enough to get the chance to train with you shall be blessed. So long Mr.Rice, it's too bad you didn't retire in the silver and black (or even the 49ers) like you should have after the '02 SB beatdown. Take care.
  10. I'm going to go out on a limb and say Kareem fudging up this deal won't be the case in LA. Remember, before that, he worked with Donald Sterling and the MSGoons so he hasn't worked with the greatest owners in the NBA. He's going to get a chance to work in a better environment. Plus, Kobe likes him and, regardless of politics and such, that does make a difference for hirings and firings in Laker land. Bynum's a mellow young guy who likes playing computer games and rarely goes out and parties. Him and Kareem should get along well. Plus, he could, maybe, get Kwame Brown and Chris Mihm's to play better ball since Kareem is, like, one of the best center's in NBA history. This deal, barring some sort of odd meltdown, looks good for both parties. Welcome back to the Lakers Mr.Abdul-Jabbar.
  11. I like Jason Statham. He's a good hand and I'm happy to see him top the charts this week. That said, I didn't care much for the 1st Transporter movie but I haven't seen it in years. Is the 2nd one any good?
  12. Raiders vs. Patriots will always be a blood feud after the '01 playoffs. That is, until the Raiders beat the Pats in the playoffs and then go on to win the Superbowl. The Raiders would have beaten the Rams the year the Pats did in the SB. The "forward motion" call will always leave a bitter taste in Raiders fans mouths (mine included) since it prevented them from going to the SB.
  13. Happy birthday Mole. Enjoy the b-day n0ggin from one of the girls in your sig.

    NFL roster cuts

I am kinda surprised the Raiders cut Hawthorne after picking him up in the draft. Maybe he stole some of Moss's stash. Foreman looked washed up. Gbaja-Biamila is a bust though. I heard good things about DeJuan Green but I guess the team had other plans for him. Teyo Johnson is a loser. He quit on himself and the team. He's like 6'6" but Courtney Anderson took the starting TE job from him. I thought Dudley would be kept on as a back-up to Anderson but I guess that won't be the case now. Hawthorne's dumping is the only name that caught me by surprise.

  16. You knew this might happen... Saints owner Tom Benson is strongly considering moving the Saints to San Antonio permanently. Via New Orleans Times-Picayune:
  17. I applaud Dama for how he handled himself after OU losy since I, honestly, was thinking he'd go into convulsions. Bravo big man. My friend's got USC pegged for losses with UCLA and Cal. I'm unsure about his Cal prediction but the UCLA game...could be rough.
  18. Who should be blamed for shitty gas prices: Bush, the oil companies, OPEC or someone else?
  19. I guess Douglas won't be getting up in TO's grill anytime soon again...
  20. Why is he fascinated by the Silver Age Superman stories though? He's not Alan Moore.
  21. ...why? Why would Millar want to do that? If anything, he should just try to build off what Alan Moore was going with when he wrote Superman (makes the villains more dangerous and Superman more vulnerable). I'm convinced Millar's on drugs now if this news is true.
  22. No. If any other book in the MU ever became as violent or dirty as today's Punisher book, then those would be the folks we could accuse of being "desperate" for attention and sales. The Punisher is fighting in a fucked up world. We're going to see some fucked up shit. Hell, we already have, as a country, over the past 5 years. Garth Ennis just did what every writer who, gave a damn about the Punisher, wanted to do but never could. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I don't see it that way; if anything the "mature audience/grim and violent"-ness of the Punisher series these last five years is a rather calculated and ultra-cynical sales ploy to get people to buy a book (Punisher) that most people consider stopped being relevent in 1994 (when the massive to the point of parody over-exposure of the character killed all interest in the Punisher) and that most people wouldn't touch with a six foot poll due to the contriveness of the character and the plots Punisher is associated with. Fuck, there is a reason they got the creative team of fucking Preacher on the book. They basically turned Punisher into a mature audience violence-arama to get people to buy the book just to see what new murder techniques Garth Ennis will come up with. Hell, I'd argue that the success of Punisher mature audience is singularly based on Garth Ennis's pressence as writer. Not the character so much as people being fans of Garth and his ultra-violent writing style...... <{POST_SNAPBACK}> In that regard then, Marvel corrected the past problem(s) you just mentioned with the Punisher. The Punisher in the 90's was like Hulk Hogan in the 80's: toss him into a mess and it will sell. The Punisher in the 00's was like Hollywood Hogan when he joined the nWo: make the character interesting again by doing something radical with him (heel turn) that makes sense within the parameters of their character's nature (uber violence in the Punisher's case). He's no longer over exposed like he was in the 90's. The last time I can recall him making a cameo in a book was when him and Wolverine were feuding 2 years ago and the writers wanted their guy to get revenge on the other character after Ennis had the Punisher humiliate Wolverine in the mobster Midgets storyline. Marvel picked the best writer possible for a Punisher comic with no rules to it. The 90's version of the Punisher was always *too* watered down for a guy who went around gunning people down. It was too clean and controlled. Ennis has helped foster an "anything can happen" atmosphere with the Punisher...and violence is, by nature, uncontrollable. Ennis has done the job he was hired to do and then some. I do not hold any ill will towards Marvel for making a one-dimensional character interesting again. That takes some creativity and Ennis, aside from maybe Mark Millar, is one of the most creative asswads in big league comics. True story too: I never read Preacher until it came out in TPB form and I never read Hitman until the book ended. I thought Ennis was trying too hard to be controversial with the Preacher when it first came out but I softened by stance after the series ended. I took the time out to read what he had wrote and I finally realized Ennis had created an *interesting* balance between style and substance, which is not easy to write or handle. Every story had a purpose and a meaning behind it and when the series finally wrapped up, those past stories were all still relevent and meaningful, which gave long-time fans, I suppose, a bone to bite on after having stuck it out with Ennis during the whole ride. I'm glad Marvel took a calculated look at hiring Ennis for the Punisher because that's something I can't say they've done with many of their other books. Adding Ennis onto the Punisher might be the best move Quesada's ever made while EIC of Marvel.
  23. The overrated workers lineage line goes like this: 1970's: Ray Stevens 1980's: Ric Flair 1990's: Shawn Michaels or Sabu 2000's: Kurt Angle Not a lot these guy's past matches (or current in some cases) hold up well. Their selling was either botched too badly and broke the illusion of pain or else they were too repetitive with signature spots (which begs the question, why didn't someone just scount them ahead of time and murder them right then and there?). In-ring creativity is a lacking trait amongst many of the "great" workers. So, yes, Michaels is this generation's Flair, really. What's ironic about this comparison is how backstage politics worked for both guys: Flair the victim, Michaels the victimizer. Flair's career will be looked at more fondly down the road though compared to Michaels who squandered much of his while Ric's always looked like it was in jeporady at one point or another.
  24. Damn. Yeah, I remember now about her getting killed off-duty but forgot it happened in Baton Rouge. What a crummy deal for Dunn and his family. He seems like a classy guy from all accounts I've read on him and his charity work.
  25. Yeah, his mom, who was a cop in NO, got shot and killed on duty and Warrick was left to take care of his younger brothers and sisters. Him and Derrick Brookes are two of my favorite non-Raiders players when it comes to charity cases. Those two guys really do help out the less fortunate a lot. Fuck, Alex Smith's ridiculous signing bonus would help out NO right about now. He hasn't even played in a regular season game yet too. I hope all the guys in the NFL donate something since I doubt many of them are strapped for cash.
