  1. Yeah, I thought South Park held the record for using the word "fuck" the most in a movie too. From 1997 onward, a *lot* of the movies ranked only came out just several years ago. That's sorta telling.
  2. This is worth mentiong too: Deion Sanders ($1000) and Warrick Dunn ($5000) have asked that all NFL players donate $1000 and $5000, respectively, to the Hurricane Katrina disaster relief efforts.
  3. Kanye's going to die like Tupac now. He didn't just bad mouth Suge Knight, he bad mouthed the PRESIDENT of the US. This guy better wear some body armor 24/7.
  4. Mitchell can't catch. He'd fit right in with Seattle.
  5. No. If any other book in the MU ever became as violent or dirty as today's Punisher book, then those would be the folks we could accuse of being "desperate" for attention and sales. The Punisher is fighting in a fucked up world. We're going to see some fucked up shit. Hell, we already have, as a country, over the past 5 years. Garth Ennis just did what every writer who, gave a damn about the Punisher, wanted to do but never could.
  6. I go to my local comic book stores. The guy's running those places seem to know more about what's going on (or what's going to happen) than the sites do. Plus, a couple of them are guys who have been selling books for 30 + years and have some stories and tales to share all the time about something.
  7. The Vigilante. I wanted Marvel and DC to do a cross-over with Vigilante and the Punisher so badly when I was buying both books. They could have fought Bullseye and Deadshot with bullets flying everywhere. It could have been cool.
  8. This team is like a complete 180 from the original team. Joe Mad's art is going to be difficult for some Ultimates fans to swallow I imagine. Loeb needs to pull something good out of his ass with this book after shitting the bed with Hush.
  9. Super villains help make a book and it's character interesting to read. The Ultimates has had no such villains in it's books sans for the Ultimate X-Men team-up where Magneto nearly took the entire team down. The Grey Hulk, the Skrulls and the Russian rejects do not count. They're just villain fodder like most of the bad guys the Punisher faces. They have no staying power (or interesting dimensions to them).
  10. Comic book run: Swamp Thing. He took a one-dimensional character, whose book was about to be axed, and saved it by writing great, great stories. Moore's ST run does not get enough praise. Everything else was Moore just writing good stories. With Swamp Thing, he was assigned the (normally) difficult task of reviving a bad book and he did just that and then some. I read issues #1 - #19, the issues before Moore came on board and that book is lucky it wasn't cancelled earlier. All hail Moore. Single issue: Killing Joke. This book deserves all the praise it gets. Batgirl finally became an interesting character through, albeit, radical and gruesome actions committed by the Joker. This story put the Joker on the map as *the* psycho badass of comic book villains. Lex Luthor, Dr.Doom, Darkseid, and Ultron have nothing on this guy when it comes to hitting his enemies close to home (although this could change with Lex soon...)
  11. Giffen's a great choice for this project.
  12. QB news: Jeff Garcia broke his fibula bone and could miss the rest of the season. Trent Green underwent surgery to fix a circulation problem in his leg and is on blood thinners. He could miss Week 1 vs. the Jets. Drew Brees suffered a mild ankle sprain but said he will not miss any time. Sage Rosenfels could, maybe, start in Week 1 as the Dolphins QB. Other news: FredEx, Freddie Mitchell, got released by the Chiefs. Ricky Williams 4-game suspension for smoking too much chronic begins on Friday. He could end up being trade bait. Tedy Brushi will "definitely" return next season for the Patriots, or so he says.
  13. Simon and Colts defense: upgrade or downgrade?
  14. Congrats Tyler. Are you two living together currently?
  15. Yeah, I was already thinking about closing the thread the day before the first game of the season. It'll be closed by then. The Eagles should spend it's money on both Price and Warrick. If they do that, #1 WR TO, #2 WR Price, and WR ## Warrick *will* win that team and city (finally...) a goddamn Superbowl. I don't think my SB pick, the Cowboys, or anyone else in the NFC, could shut that group down. Add in Westbrook and that team will be *stacked* on offense. Maybe the Ravens could stop that team though...
  16. Halloween Havoc '99. Bret sold the bad ankle for weeks.
  17. Don't let Jericho shoot on anyone if/when he's on TV. He can do that on the net if he wants to.

    BEST SUBMISSION?

Royce Gracie vs. Dan Severn. No one saw that coming.
  19. I don't think anyone here would kick Torrie out of bed (unless they absolutely despise the thought of getting Kidman's sloppy seconds). There's just, like, other better looking girls in the WWE, besides her. At least I think there are. That's just one jerkweed's opinion though.
  20. Hey, I can agree with this. Just don't run away with your tail tucked in between your legs the next time your favorite wrestler is getting (rightfully) called out onto the floor by fans. There's nothing wrong with that. This can also apply to Hart and Benoit fans too.
  21. The NFL All-Criminal team LP deserves his spot.
  22. No, you did mention how Michaels was a self-destructive jerk so you aren't too jaded as a fan. If you are entertained by HBK, no matter how lame I think he is, then that's okay. He's someone you like watching and that's perfectly acceptable. You were on the right track, really, until you tossed out your "name me a backstage backstabber" question. That is incredibly dense to ask at this juncture. You really were doing great until this point. This can be overlooked though.
  23. Seriously. He didn't even have the pull those guys had either. Hart didn't have the strong pull in '93 to '95 like he had after he re-signed with the company in 1996. That's when Hart started throwing his weight around the place like Michaels had done during that year.
  24. Yeah, this is true. This is also true. Don't be so dense here though. You're the only one who's disturbed about the "lack" of discussion about Benoit and Hart's poor drawing ability since it was never being discussed in the first place, which is just pathetic. Take off the ruby sunglasses for a moment and *look* at what you're saying here, or trying to at least. Well, yeah. I can't either then if this is true (most likely, since it involves Hogan) but I haven't seen the match yet for myself so I can't say anything. Your assumptions are off. You're also being a chump here. Stop with the fanboy love since it just drags down the validity of your argument. I didn't have a problem with anything you said in your post except for this comment. Hart's not my hero and never was one. Cool. That's your opinion and you're entitled to it. I feel differently and that's my opinion. Right. You're getting onto Hart for being a mark for himself, yet, it's okay for you to be a blindly loyal HBK mark who spouts down bitter fanboy bile at folks once his hero's less savory side is being discussed? Fuckin fanboys...
  25. If Shawn really cared about his brothers and sisters in the back, and the fans to extent, he would have threatened Vince to put on a better card around his ME matches since, if he had a brain, he'd notice the crummy numbers he pulled in as champ and do something to change that (since more money = bigger raises). He had the pull to get away with murder and could have said anything to Vince. I highly, highly *doubt* Vince would have had many qualms about putting on better matches during his TV shows and PPV's. Same deal with HHH who, if he really cared about other people, including his own future financial gains, he would get Steph to book the absolutely best card her bad soap writer head can come up with and start asking for ideas from people who know how to earn money but also know how to lose it (Corny & Heyman). Ric Flair, looking back, is probably one of the best bookers a guy in wrestling could have ever had. He knew what drew, he wrestled too and he booked solid shows, for the most part, during his runs with the book. It's a damn shame he can't/shouldn't/won't have the keys to the head booker role because, without getting screwed with by the McMahons, a Flair/Corny/Heyman booking committee *could* be the group that saves the WWE from booking garbage. If Paul fuckin Heyman can get fans to believe the Public Enemy are thugs, then he can get John Cena over as a rap-appreciation thug. Corny would be best suited to book SD! since he's familiar with guys like Batista, Orton, and the other OVW graduates who he worked with. Play to the strengths and cover up the weaknesses...which Corny is good at. He booked Smokey Mountain for years and *knows* how to book good brawls to cover up for the lack of in-ring creativity some workers might be lacking. Let Flair have the final input on the shows and then tell Vince what the card will be. Vince can't have final say unless he's going to fire someone, which could extend over to his booker group, who would not be untouchable to can. But Vince is a lucky and savy promoter, not a booker. Just let the pros handle the booking. If HHH *really* gave a shit about wrestling, since he's the so-called "student of the game," he would do everything in his married power to get Steph to let go of the book and allow others to book, which could give her more time to understand what *works* in wrestling and what doesn't (most of her crap). Like it or not, she's looking like the head honcho in the WWE once Vince passes away. She needs all the help she can get and HHH, who has cut the legs out from more than one worker in the past, needs to turn that backstage pull of his from a negative (hold down the product) to a positive (giving everyone on the show something to do and the chance to get over with fans). Ric Flair, Jim Cornette and Paul Heyman all in the same room...working together. It's a meeting of the minds (and egos) to say the least.
