I just caught up with the series on NBC.com and watched the finale, and I don't think it was THAT much of a letdown. They know they'll be around next season, so they can have this first season set up the next season without it being a big blowoff to everything. And the episode where Nikki/Jessica was going after the guy Parkman was protecting was definately worse than the finale.
Yeah, Kane was patterned after William Randolph Hearst. But still, it's friggen Citizen Kane.
And I second the lack of Score nomination for The Fountain.
One more season would've sufficed. I don't mind that it ended there, and if it was Mutant Enemy that decided to end the show at the end of season 5 I wouldn't complain a bit. But the WB should've said "you only get one season after this" instead of "Show ends this season." But I agree, the ending was very good.
Also, an episode or two ago Tony came down the stairs singing "Comfortably Numb" to himself, and now he and Chris are listening to that song just before the crash. Nice bit of foreshadowing there.
