WCW facts, tidbits, and stuff people forgot
MillenniumMan831 replied to JoeDirt's topic in General Wrestling
I don't know how anyone could like that tournement. Outside interference in almost every match, none of them were any good bar the ones with Bret Hart or Chris Benoit, and what miniscule credibility the WCW belt had by the time the finals came around was destroyed by an overbooked final between Bret and Chris, in yet another example of Russo not giving the fans what they wanted, and giving them what he wanted instead. I enjoyed it because it got nearly the entire active roster invloved in the title chase. When Raw and Nitro were both on, I'd rarely stick to just one show for more than 5 minutes before flipping to see what the other guys were doing so workrate and clean finishes on Monday nights were never a priority for me. Granted, the ppv matches should be kept fairly clean at least since that's where the viewer's money is being spent so bullshit should certainly be kept to a minimum. -

I really did enjoy Russo's 1st run in late 1999. The 32-Man WCW Championship Tournament actually had me excited about Nitro for the 1st time in months. There was an aura that anyone could indeed take the title. -
Sorry bro, but unfortunately it's been sports entertainment for the last 20 years.

It's not working for me neither. It says "File not available."
-
AHHHHH the video is not available . . . probably because of a Java Script Error. If anyone can make this into a WMV/AVI/MPEG/whatever and upload it, it'd be much appreciated.

Scott "Flash" Norton who may have had the most rambling, bumbling promo in the game.

I honestly thought that Austin winning the 1998 Royal Rumble was TOO obvious and figured he'd get dicked out of it somehow opening the door for Owen Hart to win it.
-
Orton even got to hit the legdrop on Hogan when the ropes broken.
-
I'm sure you guys are right. For the life of me though, I can't remember it at all.
-
Did he even have a match against Austin? I know he had one w/ Val Venis the night after RR02 where Austin laid them both out w/ a chair and then entered himself in the 2003 Rumble (Didn't quite work out that way). After that, I don't remember seeing Hennig for a month or so.

Favorite Survivor Series match ever?
MillenniumMan831 replied to JoeDirt's topic in General Wrestling
When it comes down to it, this is also my favorite SS match. Nearly 45 minutes of non-stop action w/ a pretty funny double-turn to boot. The crowd seemed to think Fuji turned face. My only minor gripe on the match is how PoP never attempted to break the count when they were out of the ring attending to Fuji. There the Conquistadors were jumping around in the ring like idiots counting along w/ the ref . . . who would start the count back at TWO whenever he'd get to six or seven for no reason whatsoever. But the fact that The Conquistadors actually got some token jobber offense on The Barbarian after he reentered just about made up for it. -
Oh yeah? Well, the jerk store called, they're running out of you!. I accidentally set myself up in a Seinfeld trap. Yeah, well I slept with your wife! (Damn, I really tried to resist posting that, but I couldn't)

Favorite Survivor Series match ever?

It's too bad they couldn't bring him back once per year specifically for this purpose. Plus, the announcers can forget that it happens every year by just saying, "That Bad News is a loner!" -
Benoit vs. Triple H on Raw tommorow night
MillenniumMan831 replied to iliketurtles's topic in The WWE Folder
Fun stuff indeed. The best thing about having a midcard guy as champ (Show, Jericho, Angle's 1st, *ahem* Benoit *ahem*) is that it gives the illusion that damn near anyone can go ahead and score win the championship from a guy who was a relative scrub mere weeks before. Of course, it's terrible for business but entertaining to me. And for the love of Pete, that's all that matters. -
Benoit vs. Triple H on Raw tommorow night

^ Nay, he beat Show in the 1st Raw of 2000. I'll never forget JR bellowing out, "BAH GAWD! THE BIG SHOW IS GOING INTO THE NEW MILLENNIUM AS WWF CHAMPION!!!" after Show upset HHH on the last Raw of 1999. Sorry for the nitpick.
