I'll pretend I got that. -
Don't bother. They're terrible.

cabbageboy, you're pursuing an argument no one was making. And one that's not worth making. That Lewis hasn't been in a "classic" film is irrelevant to the point Curry—and you yourself, given that you acknowledged Nicholson, De Niro, et al have made their share of garbage—made.

They came in the mail today! Sooner than I expected. As usual, stellar remastering job on these. Future Days, based on one listen, may've benefitted the most from clean-up. So much so, I might, in time, bump up the album to the number one spot. Such a beautiful record and it's never sounded better. Delay 1968, which I'm listening to now, is fun. The krautrock-sound wouldn't come into being until their proper debut, Monster Movie, so here you get a Can that sounds like the missing link between the Velvet Underground and the Stooges. Good stuff. (An aside: the liner notes to Delay 1968 take a swipe at Radiohead—pairing them with Coldplay!—and since Czech will be curious, I'll quote the piece here: Interesting that he threw in a dig at Radiohead right after mentioning "Thief"—a song that Radiohead had been known to cover live—though he doesn't give a clear indication that he knew that. Regardless, putting them in company with Coldplay betrays his ignorance.)

I have some reservations about Paul Dano having what appears to be a sizable role, since, well, he was terrible in the only other film I've seen him in. Maybe PTA can get a good perf out of him. (Wouldn't be the first time he coaxed solid work out of someone who was otherwise useless; witness Heather Graham.)

Beer-related: if I ever get a black dog, I will name him Porter. -
Allegedly, the basic premise is all that remains from the original book; everything else is Anderson.

Have yet to listen to either one, but I've recently downloaded the following: Atlas Sound - Let the Blind Lead Those Who Can See but Cannot Feel Hello, Blue Roses - The Portrait is Finished and I Have Failed to Capture Your Beauty Both of which are early contenders for Worst Album Title of the Year. HBR is further knocked because the name is a reference to The Glass Menagerie. That really rubs me the wrong way. The doubly whammy of annoying band name and equally annoying album title would normally be enough to drive me away from ever checking it out, but Dan Bejar's involvement warrants a listen.

Did you see that dig he made at me? It hit a little too close to home.

Sideburnious, you made a really stupid post on the first page. Let's talk about that.

I neither like nor care about Ben Folds, but I fail to see what's accomplished by judging him based on his personal life.

They neither look nor sound anything alike. Are you really this dumb?

Not bad. -
The last track really is about five minutes long; on the cd itself, it's followed by roughly 15 minutes of silence before a recording of Josh Homme reading a Mastodon fan letter. You're not missing anything.

JHawk's really got everyone's number.

I liked Sky Blue Sky, but have had absolutely no desire to listen to it since the summer. If pressed, I'm sure I could come up with ten albums from this year I liked, but it wouldn't be easy for me to come up with anything stable beyond the top three or four.

Ladyhawk - Shots Too soon to say how it stacks up to their debut, but still pretty solid. This album, like the last one, doesn't reinvent the wheel when it comes to musicianship. Just really strong songwriting.

Mine's named Motor. This name was settled when a friend and I found him—he was a stray—and were trying to get him to approach us, since he proved timid when he tried getting closer to him. We started yelling out random words, on the off-chance one of them would be his name. "Motor" was the first one to prompt him to walk up to us, so it stuck. -

twiztedmind, this is still in the planning stages. Gender of dog is not yet determined. Breed, as well. I'm deciding between pug and beagle. I think "Bunk" would be a better name for a beagle. -
If it's a boy, I'm naming him Bunk. Still, I'm open to suggestions for girl names and also more boy names. EDIT: I'm not having much luck in typing thread titles, lately.

I don't see much logic or rational thought in anything sideburnious said. Anyway, since some of you seemed to miss it/didn't bother to check if she was right, leena only got back in because registration is open to everyone again. I just created a new account without having to wait for validation. So, Czech and KOAB, bring on the gimmicks!
