  1. wtf on putting a spoiler tag on Rainn Wilson. Was LivingLegendGaryColeman thinking afterwards "HOLY SHIT, GUYS, YOU'LL NEVER GUESS WHO PLAYED THE CONVENIENCE STORE CLERK" Plus, yeah, he's in the fucking trailer. And maybe even the tv commercials, but that I'm neither sure of nor do I wish for anyone to confirm or deny it.
  2. Not you, honey. I saw you in the LSD folder; I'd make you a mix cd. Put some Sufjan Stevens on it. Maybe Rilo Kiley.
  3. Using leftover paypal cash from my recent ebay auctions, I just ordered Delay 1968 and Future Days from CD Universe. This rankles a bit, but no store in town has either one, so I'd have to order them no matter what.
  4. The whole album's real swank; even the 16-minute track doesn't overextend its welcome (well, not too much).
  5. I think it's cute that Czech thought Radiohead were too cool for the Grammies.
  6. That's great, pbone!
  7. Slacked quite a bit recently on Anna Karenina, but I made up for lost time today. It's so very, very good. Also, right before semester's end, I got to read a passage from Gravity's Rainbow in front of a crowd. It only further reinforced for me how, with the right mindset, GR is a very approachable, inclusive novel.
  8. He has AIDS.
  9. Kevin Barnes has a pretty big dick.
  10. Re Of Montreal: "The Past Is a Grotesque Animal" is almost a masterpiece, and I recall also really liking "Suffer for Fasion," but I can do without the rest of that album. Particularly the half-assed Prince rip-offs that dominate the back half. In other news, I'm listening to Strawberry Jam again and it's really, really boring. Once more I wonder how they managed to pull off Sung Tongs, in light of everything else.
  11. I'm feeling generous, so sure. I'm about to step away from the computer, though, so don't expect it until later tonight. (I'll pm it.)
  12. They get a stay of execution. Everyone else—even Whataburger—is gone.
  13. You ever check out Sung Tongs? I think it's their best album by far. I can up it elsewhere if you want.
  14. Also, jeez, Pitchfork, do something about the layout. Whatever reason they have for not trumpeting their year-end album lists like they once did—around this time just a couple of years ago, the top 50 was the feature attraction; if you wanted to go to the main site, you had to click another link—surely it's better than shunting it off to the lower right of the screen and having the middle (which most people notice first thing) be week-old album reviews.
  15. I'm thinking about given each another go, but the appeal of both Strawberry Jam and Person Pitch are lost on me. I only concern myself with this because I thought so highly of Sung Tongs and like scattered moments throughout the rest of the AC-related catalog.
  16. This is what finally got me to swear off fast food. Just awful.
  17. Even though the thread was originally about Britney herself, it's since turned into one about her actress sister. Let's get it out of the music folder.
  18. Is this girl involved in the music industry beyond having a sister who is involved in the music industry?
  19. Ranking the Can I'm familiar with: Ege Bamyasi Future Days Soon Over Babaluma Monster Movie Soundtracks Tago Mago
  20. Dan upped it at the other place, though I don't know if the link is still any good. I've listened to it three times now and eh...Merritt returns to the lo-fi aesthetic of the band's early work, but he buries everything in a layer of fuzz and distortion (hey, the album's title!) which I don't think helps any of these songs at all. Man, I love fuzz, generally, but it doesn't suit Merritt's material in the slightest. Regardless, listen to that Mahjongg album I linked to in the first post. It's this extremely rhythmic bunch of jams played entirely on synthesizers and drum machines. Cool stuff.
  21. Best Bet The debut full-length from Black Kids will be the album of the decade.
  22. So far: Good Black Mountain - In the Future Mahjongg - Kontpab (this is streaming at their label's website: http://krecs.com/mahjongg/kontpab/ ) Not Good The Magnetic Fields - Distortion
  23. That's a roundabout way of saying she sounds like Aimee Mann, which, well, she does.
  24. I like her nose. That said, I listened to a couple of her songs on myspace and yeesh. Not my bag.
