  1. The third-wave ska movement from a decade ago managed to sour me for years on ska in general. Only recently have I been able to give bands like the Specials and the English Beat a fair shot.
  2. This wasn't what I was getting at. No matter. I wish I went with my original idea for a post, which would've had no picture and have simply read: "God, I bet her pussy smells wonderful."
  3. Barely perceptible stink lines emanating from her cunt.
  4. Speaking as someone who's birthday is four days after Christmas, the answer is "yes." As a child, I never had a birthday party. Furthermore, no sympathy from my mother, as she and I share the same birthday and she claimed she never had a party, either.
  5. Scratch that. I just noticed Sound of Silver got a nod.
  6. The Distant Future is the best of any of the nominees.
  7. I ended up starting with this over W&P. Roughly 80 pages into it and it is very, very good.
  8. I got a new turntable recently, so I've been listening to nothing lately but items from my rather small record collection. Here's what today and yesterday consisted of: EDIT: I failed to mention an aborted attempt to listen to The Clash's Give 'em Enough Rope. I made it through side one just fine, but side two was too warped to listen to. I wouldn't have thought it possible that one side could be unlistenably warped while the other side was unaffected. EDIT, AGAIN: One last album before I call it a night:
  9. Those two Get a Life dvds brought me a combined total of $76. Real talk.
  10. Cover art became increasingly irrelevant in the CD-age, so it's bizarre that people have a fondness for images that are even smaller than the compact disc insert.
  11. Who gives a shit about cover art when you're listening to mp3s? Does it make the music more "real" to you? Also, what's some people's beef with iTunes? I like it well enough, though I say this as someone who just uses it to, you know, listen to music.
  12. How has the thread gone this far without:
  13. The pallor of your skin causes me some concern. What does your diet consist of?
  14. Looking forward to the new Destroyer; that Black Mountain that comes out next month is already floating around the internet and is very, very good. As for the Magnetic Fields...i blew, and I was indifferent or outright disliked the stuff Merritt did either under his own name or the Future Bible Heroes or the Gothic Archies, so that leaves me not caring about anything new from him since 69 Love Songs, which came out eight years ago. My hopes are not high for the new album.
  15. For some reason? REALLY???
  16. Yes, I remember when TheFranchise and DVDSpree would discuss using some random, coked-up, possibly std-infected female as a conduit to their homosexual dalliances.
  17. Wes Anderson has pretty good taste in music, so I doubt that.
  18. Then there's Carl's Jr, which is basically the same restaurant, but located mostly in the western half of the country. As someone who's eaten at both, I really don't consider Hardee's and Carl's Jr. the same. The same corporate umbrella, same trademarks, logos, and some menu items, but a totally different feel. Is one better than the other? As alluded to in the post before this one, I thought their burgers were disgusting.
  19. There's still some down here, but not as many as there once was. I shed not a tear, however; back when I ate fast food, I could only ever stomach their breakfast. Their biscuit-and-gravy platter was something else, lemme tell you.
  20. I laffed.
  21. Then there's Carl's Jr, which is basically the same restaurant, but located mostly in the western half of the country.
  22. Now that I think about it, the sort of bullshit Seth McFarlane has been spewing these past few years has its roots in Get a Life, making that show, for all its oh-wow-how'd-this-ever-get-on-the-air trappings seem less groundbreaking than quaint. Plus, we're living in a post-American Pie society, so Hollywood's been embracing in the lowest of lowbrow humor since the turn of the century, making Get a Life even more a relic.
  23. There's some laughs, but the bizarre and twisted show of my youth—at one point, now or then, would've existed a primetime network live-action tv show wherein one episode the central character befriends a wrathful, vomit-spewing alien? or an episode where that same main character goes crazy(-ier) and stalks the fashion model he's smitten with?—viewed now, through adult eyes, reveals itself as a dreary, sluggishly paced and amateurishly produced exercise in crude surrealism. It was a pretty big letdown, when, a few years back, these came out on dvd and I realized that another beloved childhood favorite was better left as a memory.
  24. I almost made a thread there, but, ya know...why? Volume 2 is currently pulling me $23; there's still 3.5 days left in the auction! Some people will buy any old shit.
