Well, turntables were used on Mule Variations, so that's nothing new, but the mouth percussion ends up sounding like the kind of skeletal stuff used on Bone Machine.

After two listens, I realize that the 11 minute "Sins of My Father" could've been five minutes shorter and that "Circus"—the requisite Waits spoken word track—is kinda dull and by-the-numbers. The rest of this album, however (including the first half of "Sins..."), is just so, so good and wonderful and neat.

Yeah, I borrowed the promo copy from the station. I had the opportunity to d/l it about a week ago, but I couldn't bring myself to do it. Rest assured I'll be getting this the day it comes out, though.

Oh man, this is good. Closest point-of-reference is Bone Machine, but not really (similar production, but a completely different sound). Completely crazy album; good to know he still has a fully whacked out side.

Oh, I know. I once had four in a row; by the end, my mouth was numb and my lungs felt full of grit. I generally stick to a couple every few days.

I'd more or less given up on regular cigarettes—I simply don't like them—though I had a Camel the other night after a friend insisted a cig goes really well after weed. He was right. Still, unless I'm drinking (or high), I just can't bother. Cloves are nice, however, but they don't lend themselves to chain smoking.
