Hey, I'm a "midwestern humanoid," and when The Critic was on first-run on Fox, I got a surprising number of jokes as a 4th-grader.

So here's my problem. The CD drive in this computer seems to randomly decide whether or not it'll read a disc. After a few ejectings and putbackinnings, eventually it'll play the music. But I can't always depend on it to work. I don't think it ever has anything to do with the CD in question...it does this on everything. What could be the problem? Any ideas?

Oh and by the way, The Critic. It was the Family Guy of '95: concentrated goodness that wouldn't have been so loved if it lasted longer. Also: Mid 90s Simpsons was a lot better, what was running alongside Family Guy sucked in comparison and made Family Guy look even better.

The Fletcher Memorial Home has grown on me. And not like a tumor or a cyst, I mean in a good way. I love the music off The Division Bell, sorry bps. Add San Tropez and Seamus to the shitty song list. Echoes really bailed that album out...yikes. Have A Cigar is an awesome song, as is Welcome To The Machine. The whole WWYH album is perfection. Maybe you just don't like Roy Harper.

Washington Captials: 21PTS - 1974-75 Washington Captials: 8W - 1974-75 I'd say it's safe to say, Pittsburgh isn't on track to being the worst ever. The Caps were an expansion team, so that should count for something. The Penguins are a 35-year-old team, and I think that makes them even more pathetic. Yeah when can you stop calling a team an expansion team, by the way? Because technically, everyone post-Original Six is an expansion team. But the Flyers, Pens, Stars, and Islanders are all well established as teams, so the expansion moniker doesn't really belong anymore.

If you're going to say "all of them" just leave. Are there any songs by Floyd that you just cannot stand? Usually I feel they're pretty consistent with having good songs, but there are some that I just can't listen to. The Nile Song (More) - the harshness of it sounds too forced at that point in the band. A lot of people seem to like it but it does nothing for me. Absolutely Curtains (Obscured by Clouds) - the ending of that song is just the most annoying shit I've ever heard on any Pink Floyd album. Mother (The Wall) - I'm sorry. This is a classic, yes, but for some reason I cannot tolerate this nor understand why it would be the classic it is. I wish it was dropped to make room for When The Tigers Broke Free and What Shall We Do Now. Any other personal choices?

I'm a Midwest guy, so SAT test locations are more scarce and less useful. I got a 28 on the ACT for whatever that's worth.

Seeing as Johnson, on his way out, decided that over in Sports, entire leagues will be confined to single threads, I've decided to continue the precedent in General Chat by establishing a one and only thread for everything. All discussion of everything should be confined to this thread so as not to clutter the folder with redundant topics. I feel this will make things better, and make everything better. (Get it?) Thanks. Here are some things that went on. Today it was a nice day and I needed some exercise so I rode my bike around that whole Wisconsin-Illinois state line area. My parents are decent if not inclined to believe everything my schoolsays as gospel when I know that everything they say is bullshit, what with the fact that I spend some 36 hours a week there. This is true. The flying carpets can be easily commandeered by jumping on their heads, lifting them up, and tossing them off. Then all you have to do is dodge the Snifits and Shyguys and you're in the clear to get through 1-2.
