I'm sad to see MST3K go. But the episodes that were on were a poor version of the show. The Joel/Dr. Forrester/TV's Frank era was clearly the best of them all.

I'm sorry, but I sitll can't find a reason to cut the kids some slack. They were all 17. They're functioning at a level where they know right from wrong. Yet they still managed to break two or three important laws anyway. They got off with a one-week vacation (that's all it was; the guy who brought the weed didn't even get grounded, his mom let him go party even harder because she was so shocked she couldn't comprehend the situation) because this was their first offense and they're supposedly "good kids." In reality, they just hadn't been caught before. If circumstantial evidence mattered more, or if I walked the halls with a tape recorder and heard some of the things they said, I think they'd get hit a LOT harder. What they'd probably benefit most from is some help in straightening out. I know that they drink quite heavily, and this is no good start for the rest of their lives. A punishment so weak that they actually continue their activities is no help at all.

We need Queer Eye for the straight Republican. Nah, first let's get those shoe-bombers and Talibans cleaned up. "Limp Wrist For The Terrorist."

I love Vice City as much as the next guy, but when I'm sitting there murdering policemen and running down hookers in the sports car I stole from a guy who I proceeded to kill, I think to myself "Should I have this game?"

Back to the drawing board for me. I use big words from time to time. I learned to read at an early age and have just always been blessed with a good vocabulary, so I don't let it go to waste. See? I could've said that in a much more wordy fashion, but chose not to! Progress! I think my real crime is taking the literary devices of junior year and senior year English classes and integrating them into my daily speech. I'll think to myself "Ha! I just used alliteration! And meant to!" or "Now that's some quality symbolism." I suck.

The point is, it looks bad for an esteemed program of the school, which represents the school in the community and on the road in competition, to have students getting drunk on vodka they snuck in through their Nalgene bottles, and smoking pot in the new band room being built, which we were just lucky enough to get passed. Their own reputations are hurt by that, as are those of their peers who didn't try to stop them, that of the director, the ensemble, and the school. You can talk libertarianism all you want, and what should be in place. But it's a matter of what is in place. Smoking weed is against the law. Bringing alcohol on school grounds is illegal. Drinking it anywhere under 21 is illegal. That's a triple-whammy and you can't let that go with a good conscience.

This is what you're missing, folks. Then she can pleasure herself with the hot dog, and he can say "he's gonna knock her up so hard!", and so on.

My friend is a Congressional page this semester, and he said he deals with a lot of clerical stuff. I hope he's okay.

Wow. Discussion. Well since I was sort of involved in this incident, (PM me if you want details) I should chime in. I think what would've been fair would have been the three weeks out, used to give the students some counseling and some help cleaning up. After the help and three weeks, they could return, but not be allowed into the jazz ensemble, because their actions were at a jazz ensemble-sanctioned event and these actions damage the integrity of the music program.

Was it just me or did Howie say he'd keep "going and going like the energizing butter"? Yeah sucks to see Joe dorp out if that's about to happen.

Out of curiosity, what would you guys say is a fair and just punishment for underage drinking and smoking marijuana on school grounds? I felt expulsion. The school board felt three-week suspension reduced to one.

I like Joe Lieberman. I really do. He's got more character and integrity than anybody in this race. I don't agree with him on all of his policies, but I can trust him to stick to his own convictions, not those of the Democratic party machine, and for that I respect him as a candidate and as a person.

Cleopatra was white. She was Macedonian, she and her family only ruled over the Egyptians following the conquests of Alexander. The Ptolemys certainly weren't black. I cannot believe it took as it did for somebody to point out that Cleopatra was not black. Thank you.

Every league is full of crap except NCAA basketball and tennis. Some are more fun to watch than others but when you look at the operations of the leagues they all suck.
