I have a couple problems here. First of all, I find it hard to believe that the concept of talented athletes trying to win at all costs did not exist prior to 1990. Second of all, you call this a backlash, which has a distinct negative connotation. I want a league where the best are playing their hardest. Why should anyone settle for anything less? I don't think the bar is impossibly high. Replacement-level talent plays to win at all costs. Why shouldn't superstars? My spin on Rendclaw's point is moreso that the league wants to find their Jordan sequel for marketing purposes. Jordan was an unbelievably talented SG/SF who had the ability to carry and take over for his team. The league made a lot of money being Jordan-centric, and apparently Stern and his marketing guys are like someone who can't get over an old girlfriend. Endorsement and promotion wise, they favor any superstar level SG/SF, like Kobe and Lebron, and the lesser ones like Wade, Carter and McGrady (and we'll throw Carmelo Anthony in here for the hell of it). They always get compared to Jordan, and the media covers them accordingly. Denver, Lakers, Miami and Cleveland each had twenty nationally televised games this season. Everyone wants a league where the players are playing their hardest. So if your going to be labeled a Jordan-esque player you have to play accordingly. If you can deal with that, you'll be fine, like Kobe and Lebron. If you can't, you become the BUTT of everyone's jokes, like McGrady and Carter.

Millar and Bendis both said that Civil War is part of a larger Marvel epic, so I'm sure there will be more expanding on what happened. I can't remember, but one of them is working on a super huge EPIC~! that ties up everything that's been going on in the 616 lately.

I'd say that Buckethead is a much better guitar player than Slash, but as far as songwriting is concerned I would go with Slash, hands down.

Still, my Mac runs Illustrator, Photoshop and Final Cut Pro more than adequately and I most definitely prefer it's interphase/usability to Windows. I've never had a problem with Apple's customer support. It's just a matter of preference, and for what I want, the Mac is superior. Don't get me wrong, I've seen and used some great PC's. I just don't want one.

Those JLA pictures by Benes remind me why I don't like his art. Starlin is great and I can't wait to get the trade of Death of the New Gods.

Iron Maiden - Number of the Beast (1982) The cornerstone of Maiden. Not a single weak track. It's tentpoled by Maiden staples like "Hallowed Be Thy Name", the title track and "Run to the Hills." What comes in between is superb. "22 Acacia Avenue" and "Invaders" show off Bruce Dickinson's wide range of vocal abilities over a bunch of great riffs.

For some people it is. It's just like people who swear by their BMW or Mercedes. Some people will buy it because they feel that a higher cost means its better. But for some people, they just really prefer its engineering.

The thing about the ending that I didn't like was that all the characters wound up happy. I guess I'm just too cynical.

Type O Negative's "Daytripper" medley is pretty good, but I like that sound. If someone who sounds like Type O can adequately play your song, it shows your a great songwriter. The Beatles wrote some great songs, I just like other people playing them.

That's how I feel. I don't have a single Beatles record, but I have a bunch of their songs performed by other artists that get some good play.

Hahahahha... sorry dude. I would have actually picked this earlier but I was trying to get a few ringer type albums down.

The majority of non original lineup Kiss is terrible, save for a song or two. I will say that Revenge is actually a solid album, mostly because it doesn't sound like a Kiss album.

I completely forgot my last pick. Anyway here it is. Andrew WK - I Get Wet This is one of my favorite albums of all time and I would be at a loss to not bring in to a deserted album. So fun, so raucous, so filled with life. Its happiness would prevent me from being an angry schizophrenic and more of a happy go lucky sociopathic existence. Plus, I could sing along to it forever.
