After much delay, I finally saw Atonement. I liked it well enough. It takes a while to get going but the last 45 minutes or so are damn good. I'd rank the nominees 1. There Will Be Blood 2. No Country For Old Men 3. Michael Clayton 4. Atonement 5. Juno

I liked Juno but the more I think about it, the more I think it's probably my least favorite (and the worst) of the Academy Awards nominees. In fact, I think it's kind of outrageous that it's going up against No Country For Old Men and There Will Be Blood. Hell even Michael Clayton blows it out of the water. If Juno wins, I'll be ticked shitless.

Be Kind Rewind did pretty damn well considering it was only in 800 theaters. I have a feeling it might it hit the Top 5 once it expands to more theaters.

I was indifferent towards the stable at the time but looking back on it, RTC basically killed the careers of everyone involved. Especially Val Venis and The Godfather. They've never been able to capture a fraction of the popularity they had before they joined RTC (Though I thought Venis was a bit underrated as Chief Morley). It's too bad because I thought Venis was shaping up to be a solid upper mid-carder. I will agree that RTC was Stevie's best work outside ECW and may have been his best work overall. I thought it would have been better off if it was just Stevie and maybe Bull Buchanan as the muscle, doing battle with the miscreants of the WWF. Val and Godfather were never really convincing in the group.

Man arrested for having sex with a dead deer

Only on TSM could you get a mildly thoughtful debate on the morality of necrophilia with animals. I applaud you all. -
This is illegal. We could all be arrested for this! I don't want to go to jail

RE: Music in sports. For baseball and hockey, I love the organ. It should be used way more often for both. Pro baseball and hockey games should have almost exclusively organ music. But for the other sports, it just sort of feels out of place. It can be grating to go to NBA and minor league baseball games with all of the shitty music they play. I love almost everything about going to Sea Dogs games (even the silly in-game contests) but man is the music they play terrible. A combination of terrible mainstream country and terrible classic rock with the occasional terrible oldie thrown in. There's just too much music at NBA games. -
I saw it last night. It was pretty good, a solid *** movie but nothing to write home about. The redone Ghostbusters was hilarious though.

Milky, have you fucked an O-Dog?

I must reiterate being bored at work is no excuse for shitty posting. See: Beaverton, Dustin and whatever EHME's real name is.

I could have swore I saw a trailer for this before Knocked Up. It looks like a borderline rental/movie I'll watch on HBO or Showtime.

WWE General Discussion - February 2008

In this day and age, which cable network doesn't want low-concept reality shows? Hogan would have no problem finding a network for his "promotion". But really this is just his yearly pre-WrestleMania ploy for attention/a WrestleMania appearence. -
I can't think of an instance where I've walked out of a show. I guess I figure I've wasted my time (and usually money) getting there- I might as well stay the whole time. The exception being Fine Arts Nights (my high school's equivalent of a talent show). I don't even count those as real concerts because 90% of the bands that played there couldn't get a gig outside of Fine Arts Night. I don't think I sat through an entire Fine Arts Night. Four hours of shitty high school bands, bad poetry, and the occasional lame acoustic Goo Goo Dolls cover by some dude with a guitar is a real endurance test for anybody.

Matt Young coming out of the closet?

There's a long-standing rumor that Mae Young and The Fabulous Moolah are lesbian lovers. Though someone on the Wrestling Classics or Kayfabe Memories message board said that Moolah's lover was actually a former lady midget wrestler and Mae Young just lived with them. -
My memory of the article is somewhat vague, it could have been in the magazine as far back as late '94 when The Million Dollar Corporation was at its "peak". I don't think the angle was ever on TV but I thought ut served as a decent if not slightly half assed kayfabe explanation for Tunney's departure. Speaking of which, I always thought Tunney's successor, Gorilla Monsoon made an underrated authority figure.
-
Didn't they use him in an angle to phase out his character? I distinctly remember towards the very end of his run (Summer of '95ish), there was an article in WWF Magazine where they accused him of taking bribes from Ted DiBiase and they had photographical evidance. I don't know if they even mentioned this on TV but I was outraged reading it as a mark.

Elton John- Empty Garden (Hey Hey Johnny) Despite the terrible lyrics typical of Elton John songs and cheesy synthesizers- this probably one Elton's last great songs.
-
It's not my favorite and it's not anywhere near the best but I always thought comedy-wise, The Cat's run as commissioner in WCW in 2000 was underrated. I loved the angle where he would have The Jung Dragons sneak attack him to keep him on his game and aware at all times.

Review: WWF Royal Rumble 2002, from Atlanta, Georgia, 1/20/2002.
King Kamala commented on a blog entry in LFC Blog
I'm surprised you rated that Rumble so poorly. I didn't think it was one of the best (I'd probably rate it in around the middle of the pack) but it's got its share of moments. Perfect shocking everybody and making the final three and Maven eliminating The Undertaker and the ensuing beatdown (Which I'd rate as one of the three or four most memorable moments in Rumble history). The one big thing this Rumble has going against it was how predictable it was. Did anybody really think someone other than Triple H was winning it? -

"Homer At The Bat" is the obvious number one. But I also liked Joe Frazier's guest appearence on the Simpsons. -
