  1. I watched SummerSlam 89 the other day where the Hart Foundation took on the Brain Busters in a non-title match. Still a very good match, but I noticed that Bret kneed Arn in the back while Arn was coming off the ropes and it took Jesse Ventura throwing a fit before Tony Schiavone (!) acknowledged that it wasn't right... 2. Why would kids scream "OH MY GOD" when you pass by? That doesn't exactly sound like a normal occurrence. Dames
  3. I'd say that's one thing I use to determine my favorites. I can't but feel that most of the emotional roller coaster is just wasted the moment the bell rings for a DQ or count out. Run ins...that's different. Dames
  4. Okay...so...whats this all about. Ripper - not using question marks since 11:46 <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Yeah...you can't just drop a bombshell like that and expect not to be asked why! Dames
  5. I have to disagree with you on London. I'm a big fan, but the fact that he doesn't have great mic skills shows that he hasn't mastered EVERYTHING. That's a pretty big statement right there. Best Worker - Shawn Michaels, slightly edging out Shelton for me. Most Improved - JBL. On the mic, the guy is gold, he's finally getting seen as a main eventer by the masses and he had a great main event with Cena at JD, probably his best match to date. Spot of the Year - SCM on Benjamin, slightly edging out Benjamins running up the ladder at WM. Biggest Disappointment - JBL/Cena at WM. While their match at JD was great, this is the match that will always be remembered years from now just based on the fact that it was at WM and it was all of 10 minutes. Batista's run with the belt hasn't had the room to shine since it's been all about HHH/Batista and dissing Eric Bischoff for no reason. Last weeks' romp of Hassan and Davari is what they need to do to fix this ASAP. Best Match - Angle/Michaels at Mania. Give Michaels/Benjamin a reason and 30 minutes and I think they could give it some stiff competition. Funniest Moment - Probably JBL w/Godzilla in Japan. Best PPV - WM 21... Dames
  6. I agree on both accounts...but with Ahmed, I think he would have made it to the upper tier, but not have been the number one guy. His IC Title reign showed how rapid the fans were getting for him, but he couldn't keep any of his momentum due to bad luck and injuries. Despite how bad his mic skills were. Hennig was the total package, IMO. Dames
  7. Even though he was AWESOME and had a great career, The Million Dollar Man could have been cemented as a great heel and possibly a money drawing heel in the 80's if they had given him the World Title. Dames
  8. The fact that Benjamin is a babyface has nothing to do with it. If anything, HBK put Shelton over in his interview more than he did for Benoit. HBK gave Benjamin the "stamp of approval" and basically called him the next big thing, which gives him a big rub in the fans eyes. HBK put him over huge with that interview as well as the post-match mannerisms after the Gold Rush match. Dames
  9. So I hear that there are DVD Players out there now with Divx playback capability, which would really help as that means I wouldn't have to watch all the TV shows I download on my computer anymore. So, which ones are the best to you guys? So far, I've looked at three. There's the Phillips one, which seemingly has a lot of problems The Phillips Player There's the Avayon model, which seems to be the best but I've never heard of it... The Avayon Player and there's the Norcent Player, which I've also never heard of... The Norcent Player Which one would you choose? Dames
  10. I'm a Carlito mark so far. He seems to be comfortable out there on the mic and the crowd picks up on things like that and that's where his charisma is portrayed best. I REALLY would like the guy to improve his in ring ability though. Right now, its not worthy of mid card status. Dames
  11. Starrcade 97 was the beginning of the end and I knew it the moment that "fast count" went down on Sting. I really wish WCW was around, just to give us something else to watch on a national level. Dames
  12. The people higher up would have had the actions justified by the ratings, especially if WCW had continued to spank the WWF instead of doing a 180 the month after... Dames
  13. I don't like the way the tap looks to old school submission holds like the figure four or the Sharpshooter. It doesn't give the same emotional vibe to me than hearing the man scream "YES! YES!" and shaking his head in a verbal submission. Dames
  14. you left out awesome. Didn't he snap a couple of Tommy Dreamer's fingers once? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Definitely. May 95, ECW Arena. It was sick looking. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> See, now that's one of, if not the, most dickish heel move I've ever heard of. Anyone got any footage of that? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Don't also forget... "Daddy, you're a drunk. Now, I worship Raven." <{POST_SNAPBACK}> That moment, when Tyler said that to Sandman...was the first ECW episode I had ever seen. I was in love. Dames
  15. I fully agree with you there HTQ. Hogan jobbing for Kidman comes to mind immediately. I'm sure most casual fans watching today have no idea that Hogan was once beaten by Billy Kidman in WCW because he wasn't put over by Hogan. Dames
  16. The double powerbomb was more of a signature move for him. I don't recall him ever pinning someone with it. He dropped it in the WWE since he was wrestling bigger guys and guys wouldn't go up for it properly. I too hate the Crabs of Jericho now. Dames
  17. You're right, there would have been legal action. But even if he had won the case, it wouldn't have removed the embedded image out of the heads of wrestling fans around the world as their World Title was thrown down on Nitro by their former World Champion. It would have been an embarrassment to everyone in the company and potentially a fatal blow in the feud. All the legal settlements in the world wouldn't make the WWF look cool again if that happened and Vince wasn't taking the chance. But once again...I still don't think Bret would have done it. All I'm stating is that the threat of legal action was something that Eric wasn't worried about and Vince knew he couldn't allow it to happen. Dames
  18. The first time I saw him outside of WCW was at the ECWA Super 8 in 2000. He reminded me of Benoit from the tights to his moveset and mannerisms. Its good to hear that he's doing well in ROH. Dames
  19. There was zero chance of Bret showing up on Nitro, and less than a zero chance of him showing up with the WWF Title belt. To do so would have opened up Bret and Eric to legal action that Vince would have won, and neither Bret nor Eric were going to do that. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> HTQ, I agree with you 100% when it comes to Bret not showing up on Nitro with the belt. I believe that it's because he has too much character to do that. However, while it could have resulted in legal action by Vince and the WWF, it would be a case that would take months, possibly years to settle and Vince was in BIG trouble at that time. It had been done to Vince once already by Medusa and he wasn't going to risk the humiliation of his world title. I would say that legal action had almost nothing to do with his decision. If anything, what Vince did was a legit breach of Bret's contract and that would have been a large legal issue as well. But either way, I still don't think Bret would have done it. Dames <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Vince's ego > Common sense. He wouldn't have been able to resist the chance to stick it to Eric or Bret, but moreso Eric. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Exactly...and what's worse to Vince's ego? Having his top star and World Champion possibly taking his belt to the competition and practically put the last nail in their coffin or winning a lawsuit a year or two from now that no fans would hear about except for on the internet and in a few newspaper clippings when he could possibly be bankrupt by then. People forget how successful WCW was before they self destructed. Vince was scared of going bankrupt and being embarrassed. He didn't care about getting a check years down the road. Think about it, the lawsuit for the Scott Hall/Nash debut in 96 didn't get settled until 99, when WWF was back on top and I'm almost positive that it was thrown out. The lawsuit was the least of his problems. Dames
  20. I would agree, UYI. Shawn is still a great worker, but in his prime, he was on his way to being one of the greatest of all time. Even Flair himself says so. Dames

    How do you

I thought you were one of the admins in this board, or well where can I find one? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I am...but at no point did you ever tell me what you wanted it changed to, not even in your PM. Dames

  24. I'm pretty sure that Shamrock was the one that popularized tapping out into the pro wrestling culture when he was pushed as the Most Dangerous Man. The first time I remember anyone actually tapping out to the Sharpshooter was when Bret Hart put it on Scott Hall in WCW in his intro at Starrcade if I'm not mistaken. Prior to that, everyone just verbally submitted and the tap out was pretty much an anklelock exclusive for a bit. Dames
  25. Okay, why? Que? I'm just morbidly curious. I second that..."Que"? Dames
