You know, having the website is great. But where exactly are we planning to, you know, put it? If the only place people know about it is TSM, it kinda defeats the object. I'd suggest maybe asking Dames to put something on the main page. After all, we're part of his site. And, we pay to be here, don't we?/

In the Matter of From The Fire
King Cucaracha replied to Ace309's topic in Smarks Wrestling Federation
Uhm, yeah, I think I'll have a World Title shot kthanksbye. While I think of it...I didn't get confirmation, but I get to pick the stip right? Cause I've got some in mind. And by some, I mean I've got a list of 20 to choose from. So...I'll announce the stip once I know who the champ'll be. -
Yeah, I'm about 6 seasons in. Started as Wales as something 'easy' and ended up getting to the World Cup Quarter Finals. Then Hartson, Giggs and Speed retired and Bellamy got injured pretty much consistantly. Took over Palace 2 seasons in too, saved them from relegation from December and then built them up to an FA Cup win and Charity Sheild win the next season. Top finish 6th. I've got Kevin Koffi, Sinama-Pongolle, Mosquera and Mantorras as my strikeforce who are all pretty decent. Gerard and Joaquin are both playing awesome and I've got a lot of squad depth. In 03/04 he became an England regular for me (as Villa) and I swear he must have scored 50+ in one season, all competitions...30+ in the Premier. Not as good on FM though, obviously.

Okay. I've been having laptop problems for a while. Blue screen comes up, power cuts out, takes three or four attempts to start up sometimes. So, obviously I'm trying to work around it until I get get it taken for a check-up. But as I was working earlier, I get this little yellow triangle with an '!' in the midle popping up, telling me that My Documents (C:) was corrupted and that I should run Chkdsk. Or..something. I tried opening My Documents and again, it tells me it's corrupted, can't be read. And, it's times like these I wish I'd listened in Computer Studies. Or, that we'd done something worthwhile in Computer Studies. Any ideas/advice?

To Mak- For the record, we showed, yeah. But what with it being Valentine's and stuff I had to rush the ending quite a bit. But yeah, Toxx did a great job for the main event anyway. Pity he saw fit to make me tap, but whatever. Revenge'll be sweet, eventually. The Spike turn too was good work from all involved and hopefully this'll give Spike the shot in the arm to get him up the card, while putting the Cruiser belt on someone still establishing himself.

Hmm. Well, there ya go. As I say, this was just a thought I had last night. I figured it'd make more sense to put it out there, rather than thinking about it and then dismissing it. Anyway, rebuttal wise, everybody keeps talking of the competitive nature of the fed. I just hope we get all these new writers who everybody keeps either a) talking about or b) waiting to appear from whever exactly they're going to find this place, and soon. Because right now, 'competitive' is kinda a misleading word, considering we had to drop...what, two matches off the card on the last show because nobody wrote? And how many of the actual matches were won by no-show?
-
Okay, bare with me here because this probably won't be the most popular idea in the history of this company. By quite some way. Now...obviously, the SWF isn't in 'crisis' or 'on it's last legs', but it's not at full strength in terms of roster and more importantly active roster. I'm not aware of the inner working of the fed so I don't know what the problem is. But, and here comes the crazy idea...would the SWF work if we became 'pre-determined' like the OAOAST. The vets'll probably remind us of how long the fed has been going in it's current form. But the fact is, we don't have the resources anymore. Sure, if that website ever gets done, we may get a couple more guys joining, but it's not going to matter if the people we've got don't enjoy writing. Anyway, I've been thinking about it and tried to draw up some advantages and dis-advantages and stuff. --Advantages-- First off, less workload. Obviously that's the big one. Basically, every match is 'pre-determined' so to speak. Which means instead of four people writing one match...in theory, that one match would be done by one or two people. The finish and storyline developments would be pre-agreed on and that leaves the other two people to do something else should they have the time. And if not...less workload. You know your character's match will be done so there's no danger of a no-show on the show. As long as the person(s) that agree to write do write. With less workload, in theory, that leaves room for more promos to be written. If you read an OAOAST show, it's usually promo central...where-as here, the mentality is 'write your match and then, do maybe one promo every month'. We get better storylines, because people have more time to develop them with promos. In theory. Also, there'd be no word limits, which means (in theory) that guys like Kaine, Dagda and Sly would have the opportunity to be more active. If they didn't want to write matches, no problem. They could promo. Their characters could be used in matches by others. Hell, they don't have to be on the show every week. Where-as now, match writing is what it's all about. With less workload, some of the retired vets would be able to come back and wouldn't have to write every show if they don't feel up to it. Infact, they wouldn't have to write at all. All you'd need is the vet to give permission for his character's use and bingo. Example: I'm sure Chuck could find the time to write Van Siclen stuff every now and then. And then, the rest could be handled by Cortez. Or whoever. And also, it means that Chuck could post the show and have an active competitor on it, unlike now. One thing that could or could not work...like the OAOAST, as we wouldn't be REQUIRED to write every match we're involved in, that means people could have more than one character should they choose. Which means a larger roster without having to find extra writers that simply aren't there. Also, guys like me, Toxx and Max could write a full-time women's division...unlike now, where we could only write Maddix OR Megan, Toxxic OR Jet, Max OR Kelly. This would also improve our tag division, as people could actually have two characters AS a team. Maybe set a limit of like 3 characters so we don't end up with one guy and eight characters. For guys like King and Korgath, if you're writing the match, you KNOW it'll be on the show. The one thing that always frustrated me as an SWF n00b was when I was writing great matches but against opponent I had no real chance of beating, so my stuff would never get shown. No offense meant to the Royal Order. But they're in this situation. They're in a tag division against W&D, Martial Law, Rev0...great writers. Not one of their tag matches has been seen which must be disheartening at times. And it's stuff like this that might eventually convince them to say 'what's the point' and quit. As for the competitive nature of the fed, it's still fairly competitive in the OAOAST...in a different way. Over there, people KNOW their stuff is being read and it keeps everyone active. Match quality needn't suffer. And with this format, it's more likely that the OAOAST guys that have time might decide to create an SWF character. Where-as now, only the brave (Martial Law) do it. We could pheasably have a 'working arrangement' with the OAOAST, without actually working with them so to speak. That way, we have more contact with each other and in theory the OAOAST guys would read our shows more often and vice versa. --Dis Advantages-- Obviously, it goes against the 'history of the fed'. Of course, we need to think more of the future than history. But I realise it goes against what this place was built on. Change can be tough sometimes and it's 5 years of history we'd be losing (in some ways). But it needn't be a drastic change. We needn't loose our lineage. We needn't do one show a week like the OAOAST. We needn't BECOME the OAOAST. Infact, looking back over it, becoming a hybrid of 'shoot' (SWF now) and 'pre-determined' (OAOAST now) wouldn't be that drastic of a change. PPVs could be 'competitive' like they are now. The Tag, ICTV, USJL, Hardcore, Womens and Cruiser belts could pre-determined as habit. But World Title matches could still be marked, still have word limits, still be a 'competition'. To keep only the best writers as World Champion. And also, other important title matches (or any matches for that matter) could easily have a marker should those involved be up for it. It'd be a case of for example Wildchild and Spike agreeing on a word limit, agreeing on when, where and what like any match...and then, asking someone to act as marker. Like Ace or Chuck. This idea will need people to give a damn. If you want your character to have matches on shows, we'd have to organise them ourselves between us...rather than simply writing a bunch of matches, waiting for the PPV, seeing what CC comes up with, writing another match, etc etc. People are too reliant on bookers atm. Also, most importantly, it NEEDS co-operation. If people are selfish over being champion or their win-loss record, it simply isn't going to work. So obviously, it'll mean win-loss records becoming less important. I think it'd work. Infact, I can't see it doing anything other than helping. The fact is, the way we work now is obviously not working for some people. CC aren't up for this? Fine, no problem. It's just an idea. I do think something needs to be done though. Otherwise, the small problems are only going to grow. Guys like King and Korgath are going to tire of being tag division whipping boys. A lot more guys are going to 'retire' a lot quicker (Johnny). Hell, even I've been thinking about swapping characters around because right now, the stuff I want to do with Maddix would be easier and sadly a lot more fun to do in the OAOAST (and would get more feedback). Anyway, that was my rambling. No doubt no-one'll agree with me, this'll all be forgotten and we'll go right back to normal again until things are a lot bleaker than they are now. But, whatever. Comment away.

People actually WANT another Cena/Angle feud!?! I hate to be the second coming of Anglesault, but god, it was bad enough the first time around. The only saving grace was No Mercy's match. With Angle/Michaels, you have a potentially serious feud, which is what Smackdown needs. A straight up, old school feud. With Cena/Angle, the formula is predictably uninspiring. Cena makes fun of Angle, does some 'funny' raps, Angle gets mad, Cena wrestles Luther and Jindrak for a month. Oh, and we might even get to see Angle rapping again! It's not going to be like JBL who sofar has been given the chance to insult Cena in the good way (bringing up valid points). Angle will always be booked as a joke in these feuds. No there's not. They feuded a year and a half ago and then Cena didn't like Angle when he was GM. Which, again, was months ago. HBK/Angle has a current storyline, build off the Rumble, intrigue of a first time meeting. Angle/Cena is the same 'OMG you are disrespectful' theme as half of Cena's feuds.

I knew there was something Needed to check the boards for. Well, there goes my fee.

If any of you had any taste in music, the theme would be "Boom! Shake The Room" by Jazzy Jeff and The Fresh Prince. Or "Let's Get It On" by Marvin Gaye.

ECW Hardcore TV, Stevie Richards debuts his half-length shirt and shorts combo. Styles- I get it...you look like him (Raven). Richards- That's right! Styles- Are you familiar with the Village People? ...nevermind. Wrestlemania IV Heenan (to Bob Ueker)- You recieved 7,000 votes to get into the Hall Of Fame. You'd have gotten a lot more, but you ran out of stamps. IWA:MS Ted Petty Invitational 2004, 7 Man Elimination Match Fannin- Why are there so many guys in the damn ring? Stone- Since when did we do Royal Rumbles? Candido- This is a $10,000 battle royal isn't it Jim? Fannin- This is ridiculous. Candido- It's professional wrestling, it was ridiculous to begin with! It's a bunch of grown men wearing women's swimsuits. *Candido says something about the first two introduced, but is silent for the next* Stone- Wait, why didn't you say something good about Alex Shelley? Fannin- Alex Shelley..great technical wrestler. Candido- Yeah, but he's no this guy right here. *during one of the faster periods in the match* Candido- There's..another ridiculous spot.

SWF Smarkdown Card for Monday, February 14, 2005!
King Cucaracha replied to Ace309's topic in Smarks Wrestling Federation
Nah, we're not gonna be doing that Toxxic. I don't think we NEED the USJL Title right now. That's the only one I'd advocate suspending. But then again, stick it on someone like Max or Pretzler or the guy I'm giving it to might give it a boost. There's no WAY we're getting rid of the ICTV belt. Too many records to break for moi. I'm surprised Wildchild hasn't ripped off everybody's scrotums for even thinking of dumpin the Cruiser belt. Cortez is making the Hardcore belt mean something again. Can't see us getting rid of the Tag belt either. The Women's belt on the other hand... -
Main Event – Tag Team Match Landon “La Cucaracha” Maddix and “The Franchise” Mak Francis vs. Toxxic and Sean Davis Dream Team, bitches. Sub-Main Event – SWF Cruiserweight Championship “Hollywood” Spike Jenkins © vs. “The Critic” Scott Pretzler Special Guest Referee: Wildchild It's a one in three shot of Spike winning. Spike's come on leaps and bounds, but this Pretzler guy has something special. Reminds me of...well, me. Plus, Wildchild's writing Pretzler to win no doubt. I dunno, it's a tough call but I'll say Pretzler's match beats both WC and Spike and shuts them up for a couple of...minutes. ICTV #1 Contenders Match “Urban Legend” Todd Cortez vs. “The Icon” Max King Intrigue~! I'll go with stable pride and then worry about all these records I'm trying to break. 95 Days and counting. Singles Match Austin Sly vs. Alan Clark He learnt all he knows from me, of COURSE he'll win. What does the crowd want to see? LUMBERING GIANTS! Dominic Korgath vs. Carnage I'm hoping he'll show because I am awesome.

SWF Smarkdown Card for Monday, February 14, 2005!
King Cucaracha replied to Ace309's topic in Smarks Wrestling Federation
Well, it isn't how I wanted to do it, but expect me to drop the USJL belt on the show. Three guesses who's getting the belt. -
Well, the whole point of Mall Brawl was me dropping the title. I expected at least Davis to show so I figured I wouldn't need to write a losing match. I guess I'll just have to drop it the old fashioned way.
-
Agreed. ...I'd be shocked if Rooney's goal didn't win GOTM. That was an awesome strike

Another thoroughly pointless friendly with nothing of any note coming out of it. Surprise surprise. I don't know why they bother with friendlies anyway aside from revenue. They didn't even give AJ a proper run-out, sticking him on the right wing (WTF was that!?!) and that was after the game had died out on the hour. Complete waste of time and sadly, that could be the end of AJ's England career before it ever got going. Just like Beattie and Ricketts.
-
I've always liked Jericho, but I'd never group him in with the Benoits and Eddies in terms of wrestling quality the way that many do. He's more than capable of great matches but I've never bought him as a consistant top-notch performer, at least in the same league as Eddie and Benoit.
-
Nova invented the WWE Style. Come on, someone had to say it. Fact is, they way they've introduced him, it'd be stupid to let him go all out with moves. He's supposed to be a sponsor turned wrestler, who has an amateur wrestling background. We're not supposed to know he's Nova. So having this sponsor turned wrestling busting out Spin Doctors and Novacaines wouldn't make a whole lot of sense. The gimmick alone is entertaining enough and Nova to his credit is pulling it off damn well...he doesn't need the flippy floppy style.
-
Well, thanks for reminding me that I still need to find an AngleMania opponent. This whole 'homage to Russo' character development has kinda taken over slighty.
-
Yeah, I'm pretty sure superplexes and moves of that nature count.

You wouldn't be saying that if Rock's movie career failed. Rock had a better shot as a movie star than Lesnar as a pro-footballer when push comes to shove, sure. But if he wasn't making the millions, it would have been a 'dumb decision'...because these situations are always judged on the end outcome. It's only a good business decision if it works. Your reasons why Lesnar shouldn't have left are idiotic. If he had a million dollar contract and his own plane, he MUST have been happy, right? I mean, he shouldn't take a risk and take up a challenge when he could simply half-ass through life with lots of money, right? Because, clearly that's the only issue here. Money. At least, as far as you're concerned. Lesnar is an athlete. Money isn't the only thing all athletes respond to. Some like to challenge themselves. Do they need to? No. Why do they? To see if they have what it takes. Some try movie careers. Some try going into politics. Lesnar went for football. Some succeed. Some don't. I don't think he's an idiot for taking a risk if it's what he wanted to do.

Benoit's Crossface has been almost chinlock esque for the past few weeks. At first I figured it was a case of one night and him having problems with certain wrestlers. But, it's been executed like that more than a couple of times now.
