I like how we're protecting the kayfabe of when we hold the Roundtable "taping".
-
Town Hall just kind of stopped (though Kamala tries to get similar discussions going in General) and, from what I gather, we ran out of people who would answer questions AND be relevant after two sessions. We had PPV Roundtables which were fun but apparently that was scrapped for the Bash (I don't know if one was ever planned as I preemptively told Kamala I had to work on the usual discussion night and that was all I heard about it). I also think there became a period of apathy from those that did care to make it better. All we knew publicly was you and Dandy both quit at the same time, so either you both felt your efforts had been in vain (which discouraged those of us that cared enough to be "good posters" in that area of the board) or there were some board politics that caused a rift (which again, discouraged those of us that cared enough to be "good posters" in that area of the board). Maybe that's giving you two too much credit, but I know I was certainly bummed about it for a bit (and even more so when I got the scoop). CTDWAT is back because, frankly, people are morons. I'm pretty sure massive warnings were given about this but the attempt to "clean up" the folder was still there. It still is there and it's not like King gave up, but basically we had a "Random Thoughts" thread (which would get closed at around 600 posts, then started anew to avoid massive threads I guess) and a "News You Could Barely Use" thread. As simple as you'd think separating random THOUGHTS that don't warrant a thread (ex. "I miss Trevor Murdoch") and news that was too minor to have it's own thread (ex. "Michael Hayes pushed to have Trevor Murdoch come to Smackdown"), people seemed to think minor and even major news items were thoughts they randomly had so stuff was being repeated all over. King basically decided to end the madness and re-institute CTDWAT, but the gimmick is that it's not SUPPOSED to become the cluttered mess where every post ever not about a TV show or PPV went prior to the revamp, and if King sees posts in there that warrant a discussion thread (for example, Mr. Kennedy suffering another injury), he uses his powers to pluck the posts and make a new thread.

Comments which don't warrant a thread.

The only time I've ever heard that Dock of the Bay song, it was played with phone tones, and only a sample of it. -
His inability to spell Dark Knight comes off as very Jericholic, though I assume it's a stylistic choice.
-
I've only seen Czech and barron mention it so I wasn't sure.
-
I also thought the same thing in regards to HBK starting it, but Jim Ross calls him Kennedy Kennedy all the time.

Is Daily Activity Report Knight really cabbageboys brother or is that just a gag?

WWE 24/7 Classics OnDemand General Discussion

I think it's just for international purposes. -
The burnt in black line on the left side of my TV is really bothering me... but then again, sometimes I don't even notice it. Depends on the background colour.

Someone needs to upload the two classic SummerSlam themes on You Tube or something (88-89 and 90-94).

"Tag Team Hell in a Cell Match, Stone Cold Steve Austin & Undertaker vs. Mankind & Kane, RAW (June 15, 1998)" Didn't this consist of the Cell lowering, then everyone brawling on the outside before the show went off the air? Odd choice for inclusion.

I thought they still used the song in the Taker/Austin build-up video, or in some capacity on the show... now I have to go dig up my VHS tape.

Yeah I did like the tongue in cheek lines they scripted in the film, including jabs at how Fraser had in his contract three Mummy films and he had to fill the obligation here (I cant remember what the lines were exactly, but it was supposed to be a knock on the situation with his contract) and things like that. Some of the scenes in this one were super hokey though, borderline B movie stuff. But I enjoyed it for what it was, definately felt way different and not as fulfilling as the other two Mummy films, though. And I wasn't feeling Maria Bello as Evie whatsoever. She had the uber overacted british accent, and I just didn't see the resemblance at all to the two characters, given how she was just seemingly overacting everything. Overall, not as bad as I expected, but not nearly as good as it should have been considering the long stretch of time since the second Mummy. "You promised the publisher a third Mummy adventure" or something similar.

"They released Angle over injuries" is REALLY generalizing that whole ordeal.

Woah, Nick Bockwinkel calling the action in the Prime Time main event! I had no idea he was ever even in the Fed (and Monsoon noted Heenan brought him in). I had to go to wikipedia to get the scoop: "Bockwinkel worked as a road agent for the World Wrestling Federation after he departed the AWA in 1987. It was rumored that the WWF initially wanted Bockwinkel to wrestle and manage under the "Million Dollar Man" gimmick, but given that Bockwinkel was in his early 50's, decided to go with the much younger Ted DiBiase in the role." Bob Orton hits an RKO! And the kick out afterward is awesome (I don't expect that sort of leap out of a guy Orton's size).

The first (and only) DVDs I own with "sleeves" are the new Futurama ones, and those are noted as being "environmentally friendly", so I assume that gimmick is going to be gradually replacing plastic.

From a 1997 WON I chose as a retro issue when I subscribed back in March or April. I think I said I was going to post more notes in General but, outside of the Canadian Stampede notes, forgot.

The OAO TSM "Happy Birthday, you!" Thread

He has quite the game collection. Best birthday wishes! -
I was quite amused at the very silent reaction the Disaster Movie trailer received at the show I was at last night.

This will in no way alter any decision I make to buy or not buy the set (I probably will) but does anyone know if Highway to Hell was removed from the SummerSlam 98 DVD? It almost certianly would have to be, I highly doubt they'd pay for it.

Yeah, I noticed that show playing on "Super Channel" here. On that topic, the rise of Super Channel in this market upsets me greatly. I don't know how you Americans put up with THREE different movie channels but I can't even stand the idea of two. The idea here (and funny enough, a claim still made on their website's FAQ) is that The Movie Network would have EVERY movie since they had a monopoly, unlike the US that has to split the rights across three channels. This justified paying something like $17.95 a month for the network since you KNEW a movie would be available for home viewing in 9-12 months. Not so fast, says Super Channel! They had a strictly OnDemand channel here for a few months but last month they had 4 channels introduced. Right now, Fox seems to be the one studio they seem to have (Die Hard IV, Simpsons, and Fantastic Four 2 have all aired on that channel and not TMN) but I figure it's only a matter of time before more exclusives are lost. So frustrating... and they don't even have an HD channel! (Well, they do - two, actually - but Cogeco doesn't have either in this market yet). I understand the non-monopoly is supposed to keep things competitive and good for the consumer choice, but it's not like either channel is suddenly going to drop their prices in an attempt to woo viewers. In fact I imagine they'll just get more expensive over time.

I ended up seeing Mummy 3 tonight because Step Brothers was sold out at 7:30 (and we were there at 6:50... odd for a 2nd week release to be sold out, but that's the power of cheap night I guess) and the next showing conflicted with me getting to work on time. Obviously we were in the mood for some high class entertainment tonight... anyway, yeah, not very good in the grand scheme of things but as a fan of meta jokes I liked the opening bit about Evy being "a completely different woman" and the books being called "The Mummy" and "The Mummy Returns". If THAT's your highlight then you know you're not seeing something very good. .

Apparently Ashley has been threatening a return due to the fact "the meds are working" (via F4W, via her myspace).

I bought the DVD box set for cheap at Wal-Mart and thought, "Wow, these are awesome, even Temple of Doom! No wonder people hated Indy IV". I had seen most of Raiders long (and I mean LONG) ago and only remembered the guy getting cut up in a propeller (and I actually thought this occurred in a different movie).

You'd think it meant the gender specific belts change hands, but yeah, I'm pretty sure Beth will pin Mickie James and Santino will start playing the air trombone thinking he's the IC champ, only to be told "winner TOOK ALL", leaving him with nothing. Cole and Lawler will act shocked.
