Good stuff. I can feel less sad when I see her looking hot on 24/7. Also, Happy Birthday Enigma / S_D.

WWE 24/7 Discussion Thread - August 2007

Yeah, I assumed you were talking about the MNW era Starrcade, not NWA. My bad. Speaking of Starrcade 97, I began re-reading the Death of WCW last night. It's funny to read about things I've recently seen on 24/7 (or will be seeing eventually) as opposed when I first read the book in 2004 and hadn't seen some of this stuff in ages (or at all). -

Post-Starrcade is going to be a long wait, friend. -
But the mystery if half the fun! Also, this "avatar copying" angle TSM is slowly developing is quickly (as quick as this slow moving thing is growing) becoming the worst thing to happen to this forum since we let British people use it.

Owen Wilson rushed to hospital - suicide attempt

He stole Night at the Museum. -
I think it works differently if you own a video library (although there is that Ventura issue about commentary).

Looks like a good popcorn movie. I'll take a jungle over some snow covered as the battle ground any day as long as they don't race up any pyramids. The jungle also gives them the option to have a Tarzan cameo.

The OAO Thread For The Twentieth Annual SummerSlam Games
DrVenkman PhD replied to RonL21's topic in The WWE Folder
I'm thinking I might have to heel it up and Cena-ize my signature. But that would be bad news for Officer Davis, so probably not. -
Ah, but you go to one of the buffets at a Vegas megacasino, and the prices aren't exactly low. It is, however, cheaper than eating at one of their restaurants and the food is generally top notch. Out of curiosity, is this Vegas price rise a recent thing? I've been twice (the first time in 2003) and despite what films like Kingpin would have me believe, the cheapest buffet was like $20.

Hooray for Cena going over. Get that year long reign, Johnny! You earned it. I thought Kane vs Finlay was pretty good to be honest. Regal dancing around with Coach and Cryme Tyme was also pretty funny. Those last two statements make me think I'm amused far too easily. I thought Rey's "Silver Surfer" outfit was an interesting choice. And I don't know if it was the volume setting on my TV or something, but Jesus, the pops for Austin and HHH were the loudest I've heard on TV in ages. -

Now I'm kinda hyped to watch the PPV. It's nice that being at the end of the month will put it on NEXT month's bill if I order it. Reminder to Canadians: The Score has a SummerSlam clip show on right now. -

Did people ask him to say Damn? -
Yeah, the part where he explained the "famous doctor or lawyer" bit from the instruction book seemed verbatim from Seanbaby (if I'm remembering it right). Still, I found it funny and it was nice (well, horrible actually but you know what I mean) to see video of the games I had only seen in pictures.

"An hour-long documentary detailing the history of The Simpsons phenomenon, from its inception in 1986 to the show's cancellation in 2011. (57 minutes)" God I wish this wasn't some crazy joke. "Ullman View" sounds funny. Those deleted scenes sound really damned funny, so if they're fake (many of them sound based on stuff that did come out about the movie prior), kudos to whoever wrote them. "The Wrong Guy: Mistaking him for Homer, the townspeople accidentally hang Peter Griffin from Family Guy"

The Dark Patriot was actually Doug Gilbert, or at least he was in Global. Yeah I used the wrong Gilbert. -
Saw it last night. It was funny but perhaps too much hype about how funny it would have been was built up. Did anyone see a trailer for "The Comebacks"? Wow, that looks awful, which is a shame since Office Jan and Stacy Keibler star in it.

WWE 24/7 Discussion Thread - August 2007

I think the idea was because the The Patriot was pro-America and he hated The Patriot, Dark Patriot stood against the things the Patriot upheld. Makes sense. In the build to Ground Zero, they interviewed Del Wilkes without his mask. On the (non MNW) Raw on 24/7 right now, Lawler asks why he has to wear a mask and I believe Vince says the mask represents the fact he could represent any American (or something along those lines). Was this a Fed spin on his character or did he appear unmasked in his indy days too? -

I imagine "WCW" and all it's intellectual property is fine since that's WWE's now, but the actual likenesses of the sports entertainers would be a bitch. Basic point is the same though - a LOT of work.

The OAO Thread For The Twentieth Annual SummerSlam Games
DrVenkman PhD replied to RonL21's topic in The WWE Folder
Man, I just realized SummerSlam 2007 is the 15th anniversary of the the first PPV they offered in our market and I'm not even going to be watching it. I suppose I COULD order it, but this doesn't seem like the show I want to put down $40 to watch by myself while my friends are busy out of town. -
Brave folks. Maybe I'm just a wimp when it comes to heat but I can barely touch the tongs at buffets without getting a slight discomfort, let alone reaching under the heating element to grab something.

On that note, what was the story with Eddie Gilbert's "Dark Patriot" character? I think I saw it once in a Jimmy Snuka match from ECW on 24/7 but I heard about it a lot back in the day. Was the idea that he also loved America but was a bit of a jerk, or did he hate America and Dark meant "Anti-Patriot"? The idea of a guy that is patriotic American but is an asshole seems like a pretty great character idea... but then I realized that could probably sum up Kurt Angle. -
Similar spot which lacks logic in favour of "looking cool" - doing a move on the hood of a car instead of the pavement below it. Brock Lesnar F5-ing Undertaker into a bag of packing peanuts is one of the dumbest visuals intended to be a serious plot point I've ever seen.
