  1. I didn't get it either but I almost did. Then I remembered not liking it all that much (though I love SPM).
  2. Any takers on Paper Mario for the VC?
  3. I watched this again today with a friend that wanted to see it and this is what I gathered about the Starscream / Megatron issue: After Starscream (as a jet) flies by the area that the real jets were in, he speed ahead of the 3 remaining jets. When Megatron is attacked, it seems to be by a fast flying, low flying jet ("real planes don't fly at building level, that's gotta be alien" was also said earlier). After the attack, when Megatron is laying on the street, you see the 3 remaining jets fly by. So, while it was probably a long distance attack, it's quite plausible Starscream sped ahead of the jets to get first crack at Megatron.
  4. I've been having full update problems with my Cogeco since I became a subscriber in August. The iffy adds are always the same - Legends Roundtable, PYBO, and recent PPV. Sometimes we get lucky, sometimes not.
  5. Every 7-11 has that stuff. I'm looking forward to the movie but will not be totally surprised if it's not very good.
  6. Don't get me wrong I love the line-up and am a fan of Survivor Series 93 (or was when I was younger). The new batch of Shorties are much weaker than the first 5, though (I imagine Benoit/Malenko is fine but I don't have it). Actually the first 5 weren't that great either except for Slaughter vs Sheik. I'll probably watch the Match Made in Hell later because I have a soft spot of nostalgia for that match.
  7. I have twice tried to watch the Foreign Fanatics vs The All Americans and twice fallen asleep. I love how Rick Steiner gets pinned off of a botched spot though.
  8. Only some cable companies are banning Benoit. Scott Keith's verison of Nitro had the Benoit match on it.
  9. I put Melee in the Wii the other day just to watch the great opening video and look at some trophies.
  10. It's too bad SSeries 93 doesn't contain a video recap of Undertaker joining the All-Americans by revealing an American Flag design on the inside of his trenchcoat. Speaking of Undertaker, I thought it was odd how their HoF'er / Legend video for reminding us we're watching 24/7 was Sherri. They really should get dead people out of that rotation. To this day I still don't know the deal with Mr. Perfect. I thought over the years I heard he missed the show due an emergency, but he was gone for several months and it really sounds like Razor is burying him before the match (though others I've asked about this didn't get that interpretation). I know it was short notice, but looking back that Michaels thing seems really forced. He was announced what, a week or less before the event? How do knights fir his gimmick? Why is this such a huge match for the Harts if Michaels has only had a week to make fun of Stu? All irrelevant, all rhetorical, but I felt like saying it none the less. Does anyone recall how the Lawler thing was handled on TV? I vaguely recall Jack Tunney making an announcement about it but I don't know recall what was said.
  11. Ninja Gaiden (Xbox) - "May provoke strong language, broken controllers". OT, the above kinda reminded of how Rogers Video in Canada used to have parental warnings on the back of the box that gave plot points away. "Violence: A character is killed in a horrific manner with a chainsaw" and such. The box for Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back was funny, though. "Language: Far too many swear words to count"
  12. Jazz being voiced by Eddie Winslow is all you need to know about this movie. Good stuff.
  13. I remember a friend of mine was so mad when old man Savage pinned Diesel (he was a big Diesel fan). As Bruiser explained, this was (I believe) Shawn's first match back since his brief fallout with the Fed so he and Diesel weren't linked back up yet. Popular rumour also suggests Diesel was on his way out the door but got over at the 94 Rumble. I don't think we had Raw in Canada yet by this time and to this day I have no idea what the story behind Monsoon and Heenan is. Did Heenan do something especially dastardly to make him fear Monsoon (and eventually get thrown out of a Raw taping / the WWF) or was the idea just that years of arguments between them got Monsoon to his breaking point? I enjoyed that 6 man flag match in Shorties, it was a nice taste of the hot Canadian Raws that are upcoming on MNW.
  14. I briefly checked out Slaughter vs Duggan in the Shorites section. I can't believe THAT was a WWF Title match at a MSG house show. I'll be watching the Austin/Hart 6 man tag when I get home from work. Does no one check the Sunflower schedule or expirary dates? The MSG show still being there is no shock. I should check to see if Cogeco has the right show yet though (it says MSG but is really the Philly show scheduled for next week, highlighted by a "Ric Flair - the Real Heavyweight Champion" sign during the main event. Not surprisingly, no Malenko vs Benoit shorty. Cogeco here never put Mania 23 up (which made them two in a row in skipping the showing of recent PPVs as they never showed NWO 07) but to systems that did get it, did they give it an extra week due to it being taken down? I ask because Backlash was originally supposed to be up today and I'm just wondering if Cogeco is going for 3 in a row or it just didn't get put up (Bruiser didn't mention it so I'm guessing it didn't go up for anyone).
  15. I really want to like Mach Rider (NES VC game) because it looks great (for a 1985 NES game) and has awesome music, but it's way, way too hard.
  16. Entertaining Yokozuna squash match (German Suplex!). A question, though - why is Bobby Heenan doing colour on Superstars with Lawler?
  17. Yeah when I sarcastically called the line-up gems, I didn't mean everything. That Booker fight is gold.
  18. 24/7 Online has the schedule for July 15th up. Are you ready for these gems? - Candice vs Torrie - WrestleMania 22 - Sable vs Torrie - GAB 2004 - Bra and Panties Gauntlet Match - New Year's Revolution 2006 - Trish vs Terri - Lingere Match (June 3/2002 - Raw) - JR's Pick of the Month: HBK vs Vince - Mania 22 - Wrestling Families DVD Preview - Rock's Family - Kennedy vs Batista - GAB 2006 - "The History Of..." Premier episode of a monthly feature about the history of WWE Championships. This month - IC title. - Andre vs Studd - WrestleMania 1 - Austin vs Booker T - Green Frog Grocery Fight
  19. I watched the two Slaughter shorties and the Von Erich vs OMG shorty today. If you like a bunch of punching (and I do!) these are for you. Maybe not the DeBeers match though, that kinda sucked. It was funny how AWA had his chyron as "Sgt. Slaughter - GI Joe - America's Hero". I marked out for Slaughter throwing a dropkick in the Sheik match. Mean Gene's commentary during that match shows why it's a rare occurrence to find him calling the action.
  20. It might be from TEW 2007.
  21. http://youtube.com/watch?v=zKh0zaXf6js Arrogance commercials
  22. Back in '96 I thought Mario RPG became unnecessarily hard when it made you fight Culex to advance. It wasn't until I finally won that battle and still couldn't advance that I realized I had missed something really simple (I forget what it was - maybe a jump of some sort) to advance and that battle was optional.
  23. I had some Buzz Cola (which I gather from the "Crown Holdings Inc." trademark is rebrnaded RC Cola). It was neat to drink a fictional beverage, and the can was nice.
  24. Yeah, I said it above but the Duggan/Race thing is one of the greatest things I've seen on 24/7. With Benoit, I guess people are telling Meltzer he is in some people's 24/7 videos and it's up to the cable company to edit him out, but that seems a bit out there, though I assume it's a reference to Mania 23 and not MNW (since some people really do have Benoit on their Mania 23). Last September was a "Territories" theme on 24/7 and I'd love it to be a "WCW" theme this year. Actually you'd think they'd try and make September a big month since I recall hearing it will be free on some cable systems as a trial.
  25. Super Castlevania IV is such a terrible name. It's like, they wanted to go with the SNES naming convention of upgraded NES games being "Super", but since it was the fourth game in the series - despite the fact I've been led to believe it's just an 8-bit remake in some timelines - they had to call it Castlevania IV too. Together, it looks like it's the 4th game in the Super Castlevania series. They didn't call Double Dragon IV "Super Double Dragon IV" now did they?
