I like how MNW is correcting my memory of some things. Like you said, they just randomly said "Oh yeah, Undertaekr is facing the champion at our biggest show of the year with no build at all!". In my memory, Sid was champion and told Bret and Shawn he beat them both so Undertaker came out to challenge him, but I saw that actually happened WEEKS prior now. FYI, check the sunflower site, they added the August schedule. WrestleFest 88! Junkyard Battle Royal!

Gotta love those gas prices during the Outsiders / Steiners deal.

Context is key.

I know in 2001 that the Royal Rumble and No Way Out did not get a DVD. I'm not sure if Backlash or Judgment Day, or KOTR had one either but everything from Invasion on was put on DVD.

Let's say Sting vs Hogan went down properly and was the climax of the nWo angle. The storyline is now Hogan wanting his title back but he has problems with Hall and Nash, so like in real life, the nWo splits up. However, instead of WCW still relying on the nWo, Hall and Nash's split into the Wolfpac has no nWo connection and the whole nWo name just fades away as Hogan once again fails to beat Sting for the title. Is WCW able to thrive with new ideas and top storylines, or does the lack of an nWo just cause people to go to the rising Attitude era of the WWF? (I know on one hand, watching Nitro on 24/7 and KNOWING this nWo thing lasts almost until WCW's dying day in various forms makes it somewhat tedious, but in real time I remember being very still into it in 1998 - that's the year I bought an nWo t-shirt from a house show). Scenario 2: Everything up until Starrcade 98 happens (except Hogan's fake retirement, but let's say he's still on a Hogan hiatus for some reason) as it really did, but Goldberg beats Nash. Wolfpac vs Hollywood has a real blow-off instead of the fingerpoke that reunited them. Does WCW manage to thrive (or at the very least stay competitive with the now super hot Fed) and avoid the late 1999 fall apart which led to the early 2000 melt down which led to the 2001 sale, or would they still mess something up later?

Gooooooo Jostens!

Unless you have Cogeco, then it will join Mania 23, Backlash, and SuperBrawl III as showing up never.

Probably Ed Truck.

Raw was awesome (possibly just for nostalgia). Nitro... not so much. That was a historic Raw as I believe it was the first time WCW was acknowledged by name (plus, you know, the world title change). Heyman's phone call was great. I was amused by Lawler finding the idea of Sandman being unworthy to appear on Raw considering where he is 10 years later.

You left out the pre-movie trailer (which are also commercials) commercials. It got to the point where the group of us going every Tuesday memorized the ad order... then they changed it last month ("quiet Jeep in the woods" was replaced by "Surpsingly Roomy Yaris as a Trojan Horse", the GTA-style Coke ad was replaced by something else, etc.). Points for the Futurama reference as well. One thing though - in pointing out you don't need ads in video games because they're literally everywhere else, you inadvertently make the point that they might as well be in games too just to get the whole thing over with. Also, people that don't believe in advertisements are communists. And this is coming for a socialist Canadian talking to a capitalist pig American (not you specifically, Andrew, just my term for you fine Yanks as a socialist half-commie from Canada).

You sure got us, telling us to cut it out almost an hour after the fact AND after we moved on form viral Simpsons marketing to actual conversation. Seriously though I don't recall having any beef with you and I'm sure your name pops up in the Office banter, so I'll just ask you what the ratio of the PS3 pricedrop to Schrute bucks is.

When Was The Last Time You Were Surprised By A Match Finish?

I also say Nitro going over Punk surprised me. -
Don't blame Vince, he voted for Kodos (that one is for you, GQ).

Well, fair enough, but we live in a society where people are expected to pay $15 a month for the right to play ONE game online. Though many of those same people seem to view it as a second life and not just a game.

And the Playstation store is free?

I didn't do it. While I think SFII HD Remix could turn me from a PS3 Athiest to a PS3 Hooraythiest, isn't it also coming out on the 360? Too bad the Wii you hate so much (yet own) couldn't support it via VC.

I didn't care for having my Doobie Keibler gimmick account (that I would use from work) denied once I discarded Tuxedo Mask and needed a new one.

Because he was the Big Nasty! And smoking is dastardly nasty.

That's some serious real-talk allegation, my friend. Accusing the internet of not being serious business... the thought! Look, don't make me ignore you. Because I'll do it. I'll even make a big show of it in an effort to not lose face, even though I feel like I got thoroughly trounced at my own game. You...you cur! Dude I'm sorry I stated an opinion on the internet contradictory to your own, please don't ignore me! I'll never do it again! That's what makes forums great right, everyone agreeing with each other and having uniformly arranged conversations with where new thought and critical thinking is frowned upon, right? Also, I still think the PS3 is too much for me right now. But someday.

There's probably too many rights issues to ever bother, but it would be neat if 24/7 had the odd wrestling related movie available. "This month on WWE 24/7 in the Legends sectio: "Bodyslam" featuring Roddy Piper". That would rock.

I watched Hulkamania Forever this evening, that was GREAT. Things got off on the right foot by showing an action figure commercial followed by a match called by the commentary dream team of Tony Schiavonie and Alfred Hayes. As Bruiser mentioned, Hogan just decided to beat up Sherri in an interesting site. Liz's hair also looks weird (curly in the back). It took some adjusting too but by the end of the match I approved. Genius vs Hogan is awesome. I could not stop laughing when Poffo went outside the ring to do calculations. Always fun to watch the pre-Mania VI promos from Hogan and Warrior. I love how in the Suburban Commando piece (which as someone previously mentioned has Gene saying WWF unmuted not 3 seconds after Hogan is muted) they keep referring to Shelly Duvall as "Popeye's Shelly Duvall".

That's just sad (dark match or not).

Does Cuthbert show the goods? I'm guessing no.
