At least to me anyway, the idea of a long Cena reign and him always winning doesn't bother me in 2007 as much as it did in 2005. In 2005, I wanted Jericho or Angle to become champion. I didn't care if he beat Umaga or Khali in 2007. I really did want Shawn to win the title this summer, but with that off the books, he can keep retaining for all I care. Just keep up the hard work.

I wish they'd skip to like, 1987 myself.

Hasn't Matt had the "singles star that loses all of his matches but stays over" gimmick since 2003?

Keep in mind by "got time", I mean it didn't end 3 minutes after the entrances. I don't time matches so for all I know it was only 5 minutes. (Edit: 9 minutes, so it was only one minute less than the WWE title match). Johnny Nitro manages to baffle me for the second Vengeance in a row. It's this weird thing where he's a talented worker and SHOULD be pushed, but WWE is always burying him for one reason or another. Last year at Vengeance, I told my friend I was watching it with that Shelton would retain the IC title or Carlito would win it since Nitro was allegedly in the dog house for something Melina did (I don't remember details, was this a Batista thing?). Sure enough Nitro won the title. A year later, Nitro is once again being buried for no good reason while managing to be talented, then Vengeance comes and he's now holding one of WWE's 3 world titles. Ok then.

So did everyone hold on to their promise of not ordering the show because the Vince thing disgusted them? Anyway... Yep, exactly what I said (and most people too) would happen happened - WWE booked a 9 match show to end at 10:40. However, I thought the theme was fairly awesome with the clips and Rick Martel and such. If Martel had put Domino in a Boston Crab, I would have marked out like a madman. Super Face Umaga (which Meltzer assumes was the goal) was so awesome. Surprise of the night was that the CW title match was given time (compared to how I assumed a CW match would be treated on a 9 match show), was pretty good, AND the crowd was into it and didn't just ignore everyone and chant boring. Lastly, I never thought I'd join this whole "We hate Mick Foley!" movement that seems to be sprouting up over the internet (the guy had a bad match with no build up against Carlito in 2005 and likes to plug his books, so f'n what? He had a great 2006), but I'm fairly confident Mick should never wrestle again on those knees. Watching him do the "running knee into the corner" spot while limping towards Randy was pretty sad, then he couldn't seem to get himself positioned well for the FU. Props to Lashley though, he really entertained my casual fan friend. The 5 Knuckle Shuffle / RKO spot was also pretty great. Too bad that match was only 10 minutes.

I have no idea if this is supposed to count as the OAO Vengeance thread or not (maybe a mod could rename this thread to make it so?). Anyway, the buzz is D&D's opponents are .

I liked the nWo-ish story arc they did on WMAC Masters in the 2nd and final season.

Mr. McMahon "dead" - Now for the "whodunit" angle.

http://www.wwe.com/inside/news/opinionothers The comedy of this angle is so great. I love it now. "Our fan Brian writes: I bet The Rock is upset because he isn't in any WWE Movies. So he probably blew up Mr. McMahon's limo. That Beck should question him." "Nailz - Our fan Chris writes: Didn't they get in a fight before? Maybe it was his final payback." "Verne Gagne - Our fan Julie writes: And he had good reason to do it. AWA 4 Life!" -

The later version of the story I was told was basically the above mentioned 1 locker room fact with implications they changed together, but the first time I was told it, it was "they watched Trinity change". That's the internet for you, lots of stories. -

Here's a similar one. Lothar was such a token black guy. I prefer the segmented "80s/90s Overload" segments.

That sounds about right though it would be nice if Hardys vs Cade and Murdoch got some time. It was great they got time at Backlash. -
youtube is great for watching old Disney cartoon themes in other languages (although a lot of them are great in plain ol English for nostalgia). Japanese Gummi Bears is awesome. Anyone remember the Medievil themed American Gladiators rip-off? It came on after Superstars here and I have the intro on tape SOMEWHERE, but I think it cuts off before they say the show name. I had this conversation with someone on IRC and he told me the show name, but I already forgot it. The important thing is I didn't imagine it.

Yeah I got my updates on time (exaclty 12am) this week, so that was nice. I heard from spman he didn't get it yet though.

I'm pretty sure a recent WO.com update said Vengeance was sold out anyway. I'll be watching it with friends but this 9 match deal concerns me. You'd think they'd just run until 11 but I still think they'll end at 10:40-45. I just hope Punk/Benoit isn't the match that gets shafted for time. You'd think the short matches would be Melina/Candice, Umaga/Santino, and Yang/Chavo (because live crowds just don't seem to care about these title matches). D&D's match will probably be short too, and I'm fine with that. Hopefully that leaves ample time for MVP vs Flair to be a sleeper hit, Punk and Benoit to have a great one, and the 5-way to be a fun enough mess to challenge the Backlash 4-way for WWE MOTY. Wishful thinking, eh? -
I was doing a quick glance of the 11/24/90 MSG card... "featured Sean Mooney, the Honkytonk Man, & Jimmy Hart on commentary". Yikes. Anyway I'm looking forward to Rockers vs Demolition.

The Legends show is actually listed on the Sunflower schedule, and since that's the one my cable company seems to be following (no Legends or PYBOs on previous schedules matched the fact I wasn't getting them either), hopefully I'll be getting them again.

Ok, but they really did have matches in the Fed around this time against the Smoking Gunns, hence the "Please Don't Go" chants, so I was wondering if they left, got fired, came back, then left for WCW OR if the Fed thing was just a try-out.
