  1. There's supposed to be one that plays these days before TV shows that's updated, but I haven't been to a taping since 2002. Anyone have any idea what I'm talking about? It got replaced by Mania 22 recap video when I went to a TV taping in July. At WrestleMania 23, they aired the video that I believe is their new invenstor/coporate video that goes over attendance, ratings, past history, etc.
  2. Are you talking about that old Nintendo sticker book that had Super Mario Bros./Legend of Zelda in it. The one that used the old 3D-glasses style magnifier? No, these are the deals where you had to scratch portions of the card to beat the stage. The ones I bought came with two stickers but back in the 80s they also came with gum.
  3. From the ECW show: "HURRICANE ELIMINATOR!" Yeah, Total Elimination was a much better name for that finisher (although I do like "Hurricane" being in attack names). They also forgot to edit out Jesus Christ Superstar when Austin exited despite the fact it was edited when he entered. I don't recognize the song with lyrics they used to go over Sandman's title run / Mikey's quest to win the title but it sounded kind of gerenic, but kudos to them for doing a generic song with lyrics if that is the case.
  4. lol, puts the whole thing into perspective.
  5. I've just been way too busy to watch anything lately, but I'm still mad the MNW never showed up for me. I think everything else did unless there is a second Legends roundtable episode, then that never showed up either. I'll probably watch ECW when I get home from work. Al, I think the monthly thing could be good. We should give it a go in June. If it flops, just merge it with this thread I guess.
  6. The handheld market is big business, Shinj. DS is anyway. What ever happened with that project someone had to convert Z:OoT to a 2D game resembling LttP?
  7. I sometimes say Ness but rarely say Sness. "Super N.E.S." is the most common. It often depends who I am talking to as well (the nerdier the person, the more likely we'll pronounce the acronyms as words).
  8. Some horoscopes say I'm a Taurus, most say Gemini.
  9. I would be happy just to see the original Zelda look like Zelda III. They could release it as a VC exclusive.
  10. It was Chin's idea, he seems to be off and on with the "trusting Derek to not be retarded" thing. We should track down mkart64 and soundly defeat him at something.
  11. Meltz's Tuesday update: --Obviously, with Undertaker having surgery for a torn biceps later this week, he's dropping the Smackdown title tonight. After last night's show, there is an obvious train of thought that Edge may be on the show tonight cashing in the Money in the Bank stipulation after the cage match. I suspect this all goes down around 9:45 p.m. Eastern time and Justin Shapiro will be on the scene so we'll have details on exactly what is decided when it happens.
  12. This seems like one of those cyclical rules that come up. I swear I read this exact story 4 years ago due to a messed up finished in a big tag match on Raw. Vince pinning Lashley before Mania (I believe that's when it was) seemed very flukey. It looked like Lashley was trying to kick out but couldn't, then Umaga beat him up and Vince pinned him again.
  13. Yeah we could Shinj, but that would be emulating an arcade game on MAME, right? That's fun. Some of the #wdb folks did that a few years ago with Wrestlefest but Derek (bright guy that we know him to be) kept inserting coins and wouldn't sell his defeat, infuriating Chin.
  14. Well I allaegedly have every SNES rom on my computer, but I don't like using the keyboard / computer controllers and sitting at my computer to play games. I also find some emulation issues I don't like. Ditto for DreamSNES - yeah, I COULD play the SNES games with a console controller and a TV via a Dreamcast, but any version of the disc I've used has been attrociously emulated - massive slowdown, poor menus, etc. Plus I'm one of those nerds that is more interested in owning something and rarely using it than owning nothing but having the ability to play it.
  15. Gremlins 2 is so much better than Gremlins. The reel burning up and gremlins replacing it with a nudist video followed by Hulk Hogan (complete with Hulk Rules attire and championship belt) cutting a promo is one of the greatest things I've seen in a movie. I've never seen the John Wayne VHS version and I never want to - that's Hogan's scene. Robert Picardo and Christopher Lee are also great in the movie. I had a Gremlins 2 novelization somewhere back in the day. Ghostbusters is way better than GB2, but at the same time I don't really follow the hate it gets. "World of the Psychic", Ray and Winston doing parties ("my dad says you guys are full of crap", "He-Man!" chant), and pretty much anything Bill Murray says in the movie is great (I think my favourite part is when he tells Peter Mcnicol's character that he's going to paint Vigo a happy face).
  16. Because Kennedy was never going to wait till Mania, it was going to be classic dick heel.........he was likely going to win it tonight and when he got hurt that sent them into a mad rush, I fully expect Edge to win the title at the Smackdown tapings. That's actually false. In this week's WON (obviously written before the injury this weekend), the plan was for Kennedy to go on a hot streak, do few if any jobs leading up to 'Mania, and challenge for one of the titles in one of the main matches on the show. Was that before or after Taker got hurt..........that obviously changed plans pretty quickly. On the surface, this seems to contradict everything they've done on TV (panic the MITB away from Ken), everything Meltzer said on the website (cryptic hints someone who wasn't Taker or Batista was leaving the SD! taping with the belt), and Alverez noting that Kennedy's injury sent the WWE office into a crazy house. But that's the nature of the website vs newsletter, I guess.
  17. The reasoning was the first of two of last week's Observers but I forget what it was.
  18. WrestlingDB I hate sites like LOP that just cut and paste news from other sites; while I think PWI is the worst for misleading headlines, Lords of Paste and others like them just seem to make it worse sometimes when re-doing their headlines.
  19. A friend of mine was going to drive 2 hours to London for the May 29th SmackDown / SNME taping to see Kennedy as champion. He'll be dissapointed to hear this.
  20. I deicded to watch the Venom saga animatied series DVD with some people out of town this past weekend (I get the feeling that show is never going to get a proper DVD season treatment. Thanks, Beuna Vista!). Between watching that and watching the 'sagas' YTV had been showing the Saturday's leading up to the movie, I apparently forgot how much exposition that show had. Peter talks to himself (or out loud to no one) almost everytime he appears on screen. Still fun, though. It was funny picturing Eddie Brock as Moe Syzlak whenever he spoke as well (didn't have a that much of a problem with the Eric Foreman / Eddie Brock Jr. issue in the movie, though - Topher did a good job. That's not to say Hank Azaria didn't do a good voice or even sounded too much like Moe, it was just the group of people I was watching it with enjoyed the idea of Moe becoming Venom). Watching the animated version of the Venom saga was neat in seeing which scenes were borrowed by the movie; from the trailer and memory, I knew the 'reflection' scene was taken, but now seeing both in full again I see that entire sequence (symbiote makes the move while Peter sleeps, he awakens hanging upside down looking at his relefection in a building) was pretty much adapted right from the the animated series. It would have been cool if the nightmare sequence where Spider-Man and the symbiote battle, followed by the symbiote eating Parker before he wakes up, made it into the film. The Venom DVD also has the episode where Iron Man (which just came on the radio, oddly enough) go after Carnage, which has my favourite lazy animator scene (that I remember) in that entire series: Iron Man flies up through a hole in the ceiling and Spider-Man follow him. Doesn't shoot web or anything, just takes off in flight.
  21. Are Drew and GQ done fighting? Good. I went to this store while out of town this past weekend. It was pretty cool, I almost bought WCW vs The World and WCW Thunder for $5 just for laughs, but ended up buying two packages of those Nintendo stickers / cards instead. Awesome nostalgia. Almost bought a SNES but decided "why?" and moved on... but maybe another time. They also give $65 for old model DSs; a friend I was with traded his in and upgraded to a DS Lite but I didn't see why I needed to and said the backlighting was fine. About 90 minutes later I was having a hell of a time playing Castlevania: DoS (picked up the last copy of the re-release that an EB in Buffalo had) on the drive home in the car with the sun out - more backlighting might have solved that problem On the note about going to an American EB, I was happy that not once did the people at the counter ask me about used games, pre-ordering, trade-ins, etc.
  22. I've actually asked my manager why we don't do this. There are two reasons for it: 1) Our Nintendo rep doesn't want us to do that, as he controls our Nintendo display and thinks that it reflects badly on his company if we put those signs up. 2) The average customer just ignores the various signs that we do put up and asks us for the same information that the sign says anyway. For example, we have several big signs that say that the PS3 goes for $659.99; we still end up with hundreds of people who walk right past the signs and ask us how much we're selling the PS3 for. Working in a building where the general public ignores signs all the time, I totally understand that logic. The Nintendo rep thing is weird but I guess it's a half empty / half full thing - while some might think it's a great sign the systems are prepetually not available, I can see others getting uppity. Thanks for clearing it up.
  23. "I've got jimmies in my eye! All I can see is a horrible rainbow!" - paraphrased line from The Simpsons.
  24. He borrows feelings but doesn't get hooked on them.
  25. Man, I love the DS. Out of the four of us that went to Spider-Man for midnight last night, 3 of us took our DSs (because we went just shy of 2 hours early to avoid getting awful seats). When they had everyone lined up in the theatre hallway, we played some 3 player Tetris, which was fun but nothing new. It was when we were inside the theatre the true awesome power was revealed; we weren't the only 3 that thought bringing the DS to pass the time would be a good idea so we had some fun Bomberman, Tetris, and Mario 64 multiplayer sessions across various theatre rows. There was some Pictochat going on too. When I left the room I heard someone a few rows up comment "I don't think that guy was a real doctor". That made me laugh.
