I've seen Ron several times on 24/7 calling house shows, it was weird. My 24/7 service is getting pretty bad. Ever since the beginning of April, I've become accustomed to having some but not all programs show up only for them to all appear by the time I get home from work. When I checked the line-up last night, there weren't just a few things missing - every box was empty (except the two shows that didn't expire). This morning SOME of it showed up (the previews and Shorties), and I only hope it's all there when I get home tonight. It's the Robin Hood episode of MNW, damnit!

The advertising for the movie made me think it was a sequel to Malibu's Most Wanted and probably not funny. Then a bunch of us saw a trailer that explained it was full of 80s nostalgia and saw it yesterday and thought it was pretty funny. We also saw the Condemned last night, I was surprised at the amount of people in the theatre. The last big bomb we saw on a Tuesday (Grindhouse), we are some of the only people in the theatre.

Uuum, a $25 raffle, to have the opportunity to buy a PS3 with 3 games for $700.00? If that's the deal it's a pretty dumb one and no wonder why noone is showing interest. You have to be kidding me. A. Not my idea. B. You win the system, not the chance to buy it (did you think my friend was retarded? 30 x $25 = $750). He's just placing an ad in the paper to sell it anyway. I had no idea that the basics of the price of things in Canada was such a difficult concept to follow, either. This person's price, without the apparently astoundingly difficult to follow "raffle" concept = $700 Canadian Dollars for a barely used (bought in Janaury, user barley used it and played WoW instead) PS3 with a 60GB HD, one controller, and 3 games (Resistance, Blazing Angels, and a 3rd). The cost of the exact same thing new: Future Shop says $700 Canadian dollars (noting it used to be $770 but apparently there was a price drop of $70). Add 15% tax because this is Ontario: $805 3 games @ $70 Canadian dollars each, each with 15% sales tax = $241.50 Total Price: $1046.50 Yeah, real shitty deal there. Glad I came back to have these great conversations.

Grandma's Boy is great. I like the body count tally scene in Hot Shots, and I'm a sucker for "jail cell is not really secure but we'll stand around like it is then reveal we know we can walk through the bars" jokes. I like Episodes II and III if that counts as being disliked by the majority. I also thought Jedi was the best of the three and that Ewoks were awesome when I was younger (though it's not like I suddenly became the "Ewoks are awful kiddie merchandise product placement" people either, I just liked Empire more when I got older). Do people who aren't film critics hate Independance Day? I thought it was the greatest film of all time when I was 16. Not so much now, but I would still watch it on TV.

If RH:MIT is considered a movie people don't like, then I'll agree with liking that one. I think Ghostbusters II is ok. I think Short Circuit 2 is awesome. I don't mean "OMG 80s nostalgia! This is clearly Toronto but they're calling it New York! Look at the CIBC and Mr. Sub!" good (although that's part of it), I really think it's a funny movie. I think the first one is a bit dull and Michael McKean > Steve Guttenberg. I've seen the second Mortal Kombat film and the Street Fighter movie several times. I don't really like them, but I do watch them on TV (and own them on VHS) without the need to yell "quick, change the channel!".

That seemed fixed to make a comedic point.

I think I've asked or wondered about this before, but the Cena/HBK match got me thinking about long TV matches again. Was there ever any logical reason given for why the Barry Windham vs Ric Flair match on the Flair DVD ended "because TV time ran out" when they appeared to have enough time to go to a break and come back to get Tony and Dusty's thoughts on the situation?

I do find it odd that it worked out so the PYOBs ended up being sequential events.

I do agree with that, but apparently swearing is what his character does. "Why do you have to bust these ghosts? What did they ever do to you? Because busting makes you feel good? Selfish bastards, let the ghosts die in peace" (or something similar) had me doing some good laughing.

Maybe Vince or Shane can just win this belt too, though I would like to think even they recognize something like that (for more than a novelty of a day) would be stupid. -

4 and a 1/2, thank you! In 97, you had Sid holding the title for 2 months (holdover from 96), Michaels for 3 weeks, Bret Hart for 1 day, Sid for a month and change. Then Taker held it until August defeating the likes of bitter for Mankind, hot new face Steve Austin, the guy who could main event any arena in the country, Faarooq (ok... maybe not), and the Man They Called Vader until losing it to Bret Hart. Bret Hart went on to face The Patriot in a sub-main event to The Undertaker vs HBK, not defend it at all the next PPV, then we know what happened after that. To me, especially in this fast paced world with sometimes TWO PPVs for months, 4.5 months is pretty good, but probably couldn't call it "long term". -
Since watching the AVGN TMNT review, I ended up watching them all and determined the guy is hilarious. I mean, he's just a character (he said so himself), what are people (looking at YOU, Pumaman) getting so uptight about? The Ghostbusters stuff, Atari 5200, and TMNT III movie review were all excellent.

$25 can be easily thrown around for gas, gambling, a big meal, etc. $700 is a rather large purcahse. It's the readily available PS3 situation that has him thinking he needs to add a gimmick to get his $700 for a used system.

I went to a CC across the street from a Best Buy in Dearborn, MI but was angry they lacked wrestling DVDs and never went back. I hear this might not be an issue now though. I gradually moved my game shopping from the local EB to the Future Shop across the street from it. I have nothing against the EB here (they seem nice enough and I must have less of a push from corporate than the US version to hock things you don't want) but I get tired of going there and finding that the limited store space (it's kind of a narrow store) is filled with kids whining to their parents. The biggest reason I would use an EB type store over a big box electronics store was pre-ordering, but since the magic of the internet allows online pre-ordering (and I actually received a DVD a day before street date doing so), that's not a factor now.

I've been liking the guy recently, but this totally surprises me not at all. Your statement confuses me... Because I'm reading it, as he DOES want to drop the title in the match, rather then just a forfeit. (The way yours is worded seems like you're saying that's a bad thing? and it seems you're reading it, as he just wants to drop it like Batista did..but I could be reading it wrong) Nevermind, I'm retarded. Bit rusty at reading posts and replying to them, I guess. I was skimming it and, since most people right "wants" instead of "does want", I thought Meltzer wrote "doesn't want". -
One comming thing I noticed while reading this thread at work: People realize the ECW PPV no longer exists, right? Anyway, I thought that was a good show even with Khali being a bit of a let down. It was wrestling focused and despite a certain Khali mark's hate towards it, I thought Umaga vs RVD was pretty good especially considering I was expecting squash city. The sleeper hold was awesome, too. Sleeper rest holds = bad. Sleeper holds used an offensive maneuver while stuff is still happening (in this case Umaga fighting passing out and eventually breaking it) = good, classic wrestling. I thought the ending was cool despite the fact the physics didn't make sense - I attribute that to the spot being mistimed. The way RVD turned in the air, I assume he wasn't supposed to land completely - maybe near him while Umaga picked him up from the ground? That doesn't sound that plausible either, but it was "interesting", let's go with that. Orton vs Edge was good and I actually felt bad that Orton is in the doghouse after it ended. I think doing Khali vs Cena now is good too - get your worth, whatever it may be, out of this then stop using Khali in important angles. I didn't want to see him stinking up Mania 24 with Cena. The almost FU spot was pretty cool.

Though it would probably be a horrible business decision, MVP somehow becoming world champion as the only way he can 'beat' Benoit would be a good storyline twist to that feud. -

Put Kane in a wig and make-up and give him the belt. Actually I don't think WHC Kane is that bad an idea since the guy is always over, but his matches with Batista always suck (if they intended on continuing the Taker/Batista feud with Taker's substitute). -
As soon as Kennedy - as a HEEL - said he's above doing a 'cowardly' sneak attack cash in and would wait all the way until Mania, I immediatley thought "heel bullshit". I think it works either way, though.

A buddy of mine at works wants to sell off his 60 GB PS3 with 3 games (Resistence being one, I forget the other 2) for $700 or so Canadian. He was thinking of doing a 30 ticket raffle for $25 a ticket, with the gimmick being you have 1 in 30 odds to win so it's not a terrible bet. Not a lot of positive response so far, though.

Good to be back to the old 24/7 thread. Judgment Day 2003 won May's Big One poll which disproves my "the most recent PPV almost always win" theory but seems to further prove c-boy's "the worst PPVs almost always wins" theory (though it might be better than No Mercy 2005). Notes from before my self imposed board hiatus: - Bobby Heenan was awesome on TNT. - Furnas/Lafon vs Razor/Diesel II was surprisingly awesome. That whole Raw was pretty good. - Slick singing the Russian anthem is probably one of the funniest things I've seen on 24/7. - Cause Stone Cold Said So was a fun hour. I know it was really a rip from the 200X (4?) DVD re-release but in my mind I was thinking "this is a VHS from the beginning of the Attitude era" and loved it. Austin's narration was priceless; saying Pillman acts like a jackoff because that's what he does was funny, among other things. - The Legends show discussing rivalries was entertaining. Anyone miss Mike Graham? Didn't think so. Hayes is great on these things. - ECW has been entertaining. - One of the shows I watched (I forget which) started with a video of Perfect pinning Tito to win the IC title tournament in 1990. Never seeing that, I liked that. Looking forward to this month even though I hear some of it is a repeat. I noticed that there is some shake-up from last May (different HOFer) but I don't know much else. Looking forward to the 10 matches in shorites. Also of note, if you check the videos and photos on the 24/7 section (which change based on the month's theme), there are photos of the WMX ladder match. Can't quite figure out where that fits in, unless 'Razor Ramon' is a latino legend and it's a features shorty. June is "Hardcore Heaven", and since I was regularly checking the schedule around this time last year (got 24/7 in either July or August) I'm almost certain this is also a repeated theme, but it sounds good. Like I said before, I don't have a problem with repeated themes (I'm pretty sure every October and December will be Halloween and Christmas) as long as they shake things up. IIRC, last year's Hardcore theme had the original ONS and Barley Legal (but then I remember watching Barley Legal on 24/7, so I don't know...) but it's Anarchy Rulz 99 and Survivor Series 2002 this year. There will also be 10 I Quit matches in Shorties hosted by Joey, and since Flair vs Foley (one of the advertised ones) didn't happen until August of 06, I know this is different. Also advertised - Funk vs Lawler! I love this channel. Next month's PYBO is Superbrawl III vs. Revenge of the Taker ('Taker's Revenge') vs. One Night Stand 2005. Please flood the votes with Superbrawl III, please and thanks (unless you guys haven't seen ONS 2005 for some reason, then yeah, go all out for that). Side note - the card listed for Superbrawl III says "Rock and Roll Express vs Heavenly Bodies - SMW tag titles". Did this really happen (I suppose I could look it up but I'm at work amd actually just got called to do something) or is this a mix up with the Survivor Series 93 card? That would be pretty odd for the same match for the same title to happen twice in the same year for rival companies that have nothing to do with the titles, and since no one ever talks about such an anomily, I have to think "mistake" until I look it up later. Edit: Wow, it really did happen. That seems like such a huge irrelevant trivia footnote for me to have not been aware of.
