  1. This is what I get for writing "that's a shame" (when it was 5-3) on a Leaf fan friend's wall.
  2. I think a lot of people watching this show, though making valid points, are looking back and saying "wow that sucked that Jericho/Benoit only went 4 minutes" and how the idea that Nitro had better wrestling was a myth without realizing this is taking place a decade ago. Yeah, a 4 minute Jericho/Benoit match is the sort of thing happening on Impact that we complain about now, but that match totally blew away every match on Raw the same week in terms of the work that was presented in that small amount of time. Flash Funk vs HHH was dreadfully dull and it lasted what seemed like 13 minutes. For me, these shows are pure television nostalgia and should, for the most part, be treated as such. What is the statute of limitations on reviewing a show as "nostalgic fun" or a serious review? I know people hate hearing his name, but Scott Keith is giving decade old MNWs a 'serious' review with star ratings and as a result seems constantly down on them, but is giving 2 decade old NWA shows that seem to have an endless parade of squash matches a free pass.
  3. Super game for Ryder tonight. Go Habs!
  4. Guarantee Islanders win tomorrow just to... wow nice goal! Anyway, if the Leafs maintain this now only one goal lead, the Islanders will win to screw everyone over.
  5. Actually, yeah, with all PPVs being multi-brand it wouldn't be a terrible idea to run a full tournament. I would suggest Vengeance since (and I haven't checked the latest schedule) it's usually two weeks before a PPV that will now be exactly the same as any other. They need to do something different in June, that's for sure.
  6. I wonder if they'll bother. Last year's SmackDown only KOTR seemed designed to put Lashley over but it was instead used to make a new character (which worked out for the better). I don't know what angle they'd make out of it this year unless they want to go "Mr. Money in the Bank, Mr. King Kennedy".
  7. I still have the bomb disarming underwater music in my head - but then again, I have an mp3 of it and have watched the speed run of the game a few times.
  8. While I neither have a Wii, would pay $6 for that TMNT game, or even like that TMNT game, seeing licensed games on VC is a good sign (I had always heard the official stance on that was "don't hold your breath", although I believe that was directly related to GoldenEye).
  9. Looking ahead and skimming some 1997 results, it's too bad Owen's IC title win and Austin's ambulance ride ambush on Bret happened on non-competitive weeks (read: Won't be shown in the MNW sequence). I'm seriously looking forward to the Bret/Owen/Bulldog reuniting episode though - that one tugged at the emotions back in the day.
  10. FYI, the real reason for his absence is knee problems and he could be back in June (PWI).
  11. Curb airs straight through, but that's usually a very short season that goes for anywhere from $35 to $45 Canadian for a DVD boxset. I just can't justify that purchase no matter how funny I find it. But yeah, looking forward to Season 3B tomorrow.
  12. I don't recall Malenko interfering in the main event, but by that point I was reading about Bad News Allen in the WON and wasn't paying attention.
  13. London/Kendrick vs Helms/Chavo was tremendous stuff. Loved that finish.
  14. "WTF! First person cameraman?" already won it.
  15. Many days no business come to TSM. TSM have fear? A thousand times no! Czech has returned with fancy plans and pants to match.
  16. Just a note, 2 MNWs from now (1/13/97) is the semi-infamous "Robin Hood" episode.
  17. The Gorilla overshooting his target is pretty funny, but I imagine that sucked quite a bit for him. Angle and the cage door is hilarious.
  18. Actually there ISN'T a CD coming out. It's all online, which is the point of everything above.
  19. That fan jabbing Dean Malenko with a hockeystick at Mayhem was bizarre. I'm so used to WWE not acknowledging that sort of thing (look for the jumper/streaker at Mania 23 to be edited off the DVD) that when I saw WCW's production focusing on this guy in facepaint, I assumed it was an angle.

  21. Best episode ending ever.
  22. Kevin, as Roy is leaving: It's Roy, look out! Jim: Thanks Kev.
  23. I thought it was "mafa / mofo". Creed: Here's the $40 you gave me. Michael: I didn't give you $40. Creed: ... in a way you did.
