  1. Yeah I noticed today Khali only had 3 points, but he had 8 the other day. Even with a big ol 0 for Deuce, Mr. Kennedy was enough of a presence to propel me past DS and to the top of th league.
  2. I watched the February 89 MSG show - that's two for two so far in a MSG house show on 24/7 featuring Savage going over Warrior in the main event. Good match, too. "Jive Soul Bro" was in full effect for the house show, so more randomness in terms of what does / does not need to be edited.
  3. Savage is crazy and challenged Hogan to a shoot fight via a rap song. That is all.
  4. Kage the Ninja is such a generic character, as is VF poster boy Akira. However, I think Wolf is pretty awesome, but out of the cast of the original VF, he's probably the best of the bunch.
  5. 24/7 Online (http://www.wwe.com/subscriptions/247online/march/) is a big WM collection this month (as I believe it is every March). I FF'd through Mania V (I already watched it on an old VHS a week ago) to look for music edits. I guess this would be the version they released on DVD last year since it has that stupid "WWE" overdub by Hogan when he's talking about his match with Savage. It would also explain why Demolition's perfectly acceptable on 24/7 theme music was edited out, although as I mentioned with Spring Stampede, certain songs seem to be edited out / not edited out on a random basis. I'm glad the Rogeau's theme made the cut. SNME was good - Owen/Dibiase and Rockers/Brainbusters were great stuff and very fast paced and exciting, especially for that time period in the Fed. Owen's promo about how he'd "even go up to the rafters" was one of those unfortunate retrospective deals, though.
  6. Even though the match never started, I guess Khali managed to get extra points for being in a "match" with Masters, so that's good. I'm tied with the mysterious DS right now.
  7. Notify both WWE.com and your cable company.
  8. In reading next month's preview, some interesting things are going on: The theme is "Manager Mayhem". The new Legends roundtable is JR, Mick Foley, Michaels Hayes, Jerry Lawler and Eric Bischoff. They will be discussing Austin vs McMahon and Hennig vs Bockwinkel in the first episode. It looks like Hall of Fame, ECW-Territories, and Primetime sections are being merged / re-branded as "Legends" and "Classic TV". I like that.

  10. I don't see any ads at the top, but that's probably due to my browser and it's plug-ins (I do recall seeing some ads at work). These are from the bottom of the page, under the McKenzie Group logo.
  11. New Month! If you own all of the WrestleManias, there is probably little new for you to watch in the "Big Ones" section this month, but fortunately they seem to be planning on showing surrounding shows leading up to the events. New this week: Hall of Fame - Snuka video piece plus two matches (6 man tag and vs. Backlund in a cage). Big Ones - WrestleMania V and WrestleMania XV. Of note, WrestleMania V is listed as being 200+ minutes, making it the uncut version. Also a MSG house show from sometime in 89. Specials: The SNME before Mania V, Hulk Hogan Anthology Part 1. ECW-Territories - New ECW, CWF, and WCCW shows. PrimeTime - Raw before WrestleMania XV Shorites: Celebrity themed stuff from Mania. I watched the 99 Raw last night and it was what I expected. Short matches, non-finishes, and Russo's fingerprints all over. That said, it was an entertaining nostalgia trip. I didn't even remember LOD still being around in 1999.
  12. Montana music!
  13. While the 2004 draft made for a entertaining show and a ratings boost, the 2005 version - spread over a month of television - wasn't nearly as interesting. 2006 didn't have one and by now they just say "contract expired" if they need someone on a different show, and that's only if they bother explaining it. The borders are very loose right now and a draft lottery wouldn't have any drama to it.
  14. Is Coach turning face and joining Austin in the bald head alliance against McMahon? I'm not entirely sure why people are "hesitant to say" or "surprised" that Raw was good this week. It's been good (or at the very least improving) since around the Rumble with consistent building.
  15. F'd over by the tag titles. For whatever reason, I always pick poorly when those are involved, dating back to me picking both Carlito and Masters for the week of WM22 and neither Kane or Big Show. If a singles wrestler wins a title or retains a title, it's just mildly bad to not have them. When two do it in the same match - and you pick both instead of taking the cheap way out and splitting with a member of each team - you can get screwed. Other than that, I did ok for Raw. Hopefully Khali makes a SmackDown appearance.
  16. My week 6 roster - it went through many changes before I settled on this balance (I think I used to have Sylvan in there for ECW, but decided to go another way). Hopefully this can get me back on top of the league, and then some. Lashley - ECW title defense in a cage + a possible appearance/match tonight. Good pick. Carlito - Maybe another tag team win with Flair? Deuce - Cheap, wanted someone from SmackDown. Edge - Main event, possible title winner. Jeff Hardy - Will probably win (unless his IC title loss last week is because he fell out of favor... I didn't understand Meltzer's comment about which one of the two fell out of favor). Little Bastard - I doubt he'll be in a 3rd match, but a good deal at $500,000. Kennedy - This was originally Kane, but it's now rumoured Kennedy will be in a MITB qualifier on SD! Orton - Main event, possible title winner. Khali - Sometimes he doesn't appear at all, sometimes he gets a whole bunch of points. A crap shoot.
  17. WWE.com confirms the Lashley/Holly steel cage stipulation.
  18. I highly recommend Sbarros. That's where I go for my 'za in New York, New York. The city so nice they named it twice (Manhattan is the other name).
  19. Well this is what he told WWE.com recently:
  20. Eaxctly! This is the kind of booking I love. Everything did gel perfectly and the whole thing was a brilliant storyline. Not everything is going to work as well as this did, but booking like this, in my opinion, sure beats the type that relies on #1 contender matches and "push the guy by putting him over everyone and shove him to the top right away." While this is a minor problem (especially since it still happens to this day with the Rumble), the scenario of booking someone to look strong and tying it to a major win as a story point - not a #1 contender guarantee - leads to predictability. Almost everyone who was old enough to 'know the deal' about wrestling knew Owen was winning the KOTR, where a random "#1 contender battle royal" or MITB match with no pre-made storyline behind it can yield unpredictable results. The flip side of this is long term storytelling with some given predictability is a great way to build interest in the product.
  21. My memory of the situation is a mix of the two. As a reward for Lesnar helping Vince, Vince accepted Heyman's proposal that whoever won the KOTR would get a SummerSlam title match (as Heyman was very confident Brock would win).
  22. Well Owen also fought Bret for the title at SummerSlam 94, but that was more his KOTR victory and alliance with Jim Neidhart continuing the family feud - the KOTR win, title match, and complete storyline (WMX win over Bret) all gelled together there. Lesnar - as far as I recall - is the first and only KOTR winner to be given a PPV title bout as a direct result of winning the tournament, and that worked out pretty well for him.
  23. I read a review of the Piper / Orton TNT that said Piper cuts an odd promo while dropping insider terms. I was going to check it out anyway just to see how the show went with the heels hosting, but now I want to see this promo.
