Is there an Alec Baldwin appearance as Leonardo Leonardo? I doubt it, but that would rock.

WWE Fantasy Season 7 (TSM's 4th season)
DrVenkman PhD replied to DrVenkman PhD's topic in The WWE Folder
You should have pimped the league! Seriously though, I look forward to seeing what if anything is done with this on WWE.com -
I'm under the impression he isn't a worker at all. A good old fashioned male manager.

http://www.wwe.com/shows/ecw/commentary/dr...6diarysuspended Click on Archives - I don't know what was originally there, but one of the blogs is an all caps apology about something.

It wasn't much of a prediction - he made that guess after Meltzer reported it (along with recapping everything else that was publically said at the announcement). I'm guessing ECW will air after ET Canada on Global (whenever the Fear Factor rerun is on).

In my market, Sportsnet is the premium tier channel, not The Score. Not that it matters much since we're switching to digital anyway. I don't what other companies are like, but Cogeco here basically doesn't care about analogue subscribers and I don't think it's that expensive to subscribe to every channel... but I digress. I approve of the move. It will be weird getting used to the hour delay, but if it's an hour delay EVERY Monday (as opposed to sporadic TSN delays) and I don't have to worry about the curling games pre-empting Raw until Tuesday, it's all good.
-
So in Canada, Raw will now be on EVERY week at 10pm - the compromise is (in theory) there will never be any "mystery times" where hockey or baseball games cause pre-emptions, or pre-emptions until midnight for that matter. I can live with that (and watch Two and Half Men!).

WWE Fantasy Season 7 (TSM's 4th season)
DrVenkman PhD replied to DrVenkman PhD's topic in The WWE Folder
This is the first season they've had a show, so there really isn't a "do they usually do this?" mold of things to go on right now. The best you can say is they haven't interviewed anyone for the show yet. I think Season 1's winner was interviewed for a general WWE.com piece, though. -

Tip of the Hat, Wag of the Finger - Credit Fraud!
DrVenkman PhD commented on DrVenkman PhD's blog entry in DrVenkman's Blog
To be fair, you subscribe to a different company in a different market with different channel packages, and even then I liked the concept. I'm just REALLY sold on it now. -
Yeah, I was just about to say "So how about that WWE leaving TSN news?". Weird no one mentioned it until now.

Uhmm... commercials? Guess what took up about 15 minutes of pointless TV time... during the actual SmackDown broadcast... that wasn't an advertisement between segments. That's right... the Diva Search.
-
Watched the show and wrote a report for WO.com - not that good. No match sucked, which was nice, but the main event is a little over FIVE MINUTES as they did a commercial right after ring entrances. Lashley/Finlay is 10 minutes and London/Noble is 5 minutes. But guess what took up about 15 minutes of pointless TV time?

Tip of the Hat, Wag of the Finger - Credit Fraud!
DrVenkman PhD posted a blog entry in DrVenkman's Blog
A huge, pissed off wag of the finger to people who commit credit card fraud. I, like 330,000,000 or so other North Americans, assumed CC fraud happens to everyone but them. Well, apparently it really CAN happen to anyone, and I had to make the dreaded phone call to cancel my card, reverse the charges, and get a new card. Thankfully I only have one monthly subscription fee on it and this shouldn't be TOO much of a hassle. This really put me in a bad mood all the same, though. The worst part is I have not even learned a lesson in any of this. As soon as I get the new one, I'll be back to buying everything online and using my card freely at any store I walk into, which is how I figure I got into this mess to begin with. That, or the fact I throw out receipts and statements and people probably go through the garbage. I probably haven't learned a lesson about that, either. However... A big "Tip of the Hat" to the people I was staying with for the past month for introducing me to Cogeco Digital Cable and "Movies on Demand" from The Movie Network. It was enough to convince me to finally start shelling out for digicable at my own place and that should be a go in a few weeks (if only Cogeco had The Fight Network... someday, though. I guess I'll be a WWE mark and shell out the extra $10 for 24/7 too). Also, I was just informed that Stephen Colbert would be on Conan tonight. When I went to NBC.com to verify this was happening and not a rerun from December, I saw that not only Colbert but Rainn "Dwight from The Office" Wilson would be on too! I am staying up for this one, no doubt about it. -
Rainn Wilson is on Conan tonight along with Stephen Colbert. Best Episode Ever potential.

Good stuff there. Candice being a NES fan is neat.

X-2 links the world of Spira to FFVII therefore it is the most important game ever.

I read an interview in EGM with a Sony rep (forget his name, but not Ken) stating "we've never been first to release our console", referring to the Xbox 360 being out a year prior to the PS3. Correct me if I'm wrong, but in the current (previous?) generation, wasn't the PS2 launched a year prior to the Xbox and GameCube? Should the fact the DC came out in 99 really count? It was not a factor in what is now just a 3 system race.

OAO ECW Week 4 on Sci-Fi, July 4th
DrVenkman PhD replied to Hunter's Torn Quad's topic in The WWE Folder
So, not only did they do the Heyman/Lesnar "you don't listen to me so I'm going to cost you the title", which I thought might happen based on Monday, they use the SAME OPPONENT and the SAME MATCH FINISH (well, a slight variation). That's extreme. All told I thought the last few minutes of the match were pretty good. Glad they introduced Punk, hopefully he'll be at the Detroit tapings. -

WWE Fantasy Season 7 (TSM's 4th season)
DrVenkman PhD replied to DrVenkman PhD's topic in The WWE Folder
I wish I would have loaded up some SD! guys for the battle royal being advertised on WWE.com - I think it was there earlier in the day and I just ignored it because I thought it was yet another story about Rey being an underdog with his world title. I assumed Sabu was going to be RVD's partner tonight with all the talk of him "being ok to wrestle tonight" but alas WWE changed the match and now I'm thinking Sabu won't even be on ECW tomorrow, so that might end up being $4m wasted. Glad I picked Edge though. -
True enough about the title screen, but it was very cool to see an "arcade / Saturn" title screen on a Genesis, even if it was really simple.

DrVenkman shoots, rips HTQ / MisawaGQ off...
DrVenkman PhD commented on DrVenkman PhD's blog entry in DrVenkman's Blog
When I was younger I found his TV character to be one angry and scary dad. Future re-watchings of The Wonder Years have shown me that he wasn't all that scary, but he could yell when he needed to. His death saddened us all. I didn't really like him at first, but (so far) he's one of the few guys the company is giving a lot of wins too without ending it with some stupid count-out or disqualification. His manager is very annoying but I am finding him less annoying as the weeks go by. His match against Hacksaw Jim Duggan at the John Labbat Centre in London, Ontario on July 8th should be a real barn burner. 3 2 1. 1 2 3. What the heck is bothering me? The fact CFMT (Canada's First Multicultural Television) moved Family Matters to a timeslot that interferes with my work. Carl was your typical "I have a scheme / I forgot something / something happened to something and I can't tell the wife" TV husband, but Reggie Vel Johnson had good chemistry with his the other characters, specifically Steve Urkel. A weird girl, but it was cool that she was into anime in high school. I liked that about her and I think in high school that caused me to overlook other things that I should have disliked about her. But we've discussed this all before... A great "wacky friend" character who really got on Mr. Powell's nerves. The friendship between him and Charles was one of those things that, if they weren't two TV characters scripted to be friends, would two people like that REALLY be best friends? It could happen. Of course, Buddy went on to become "Bibleman" in a series of direct to video specials about the bible. -
Still no final decision on a PS2 trade-in (or even attempt or thought of going to the mall). I was playing some Genesis multirom on the Dreamcast today and I was surprised at some of the stuff on there, like a 2D Virtua Fighter 2 and a really, really bad 16-bit interpretation of Duke Nukem 3D. Duke was a disaster and should never have been made (and I'm actually wondering if it ever was, or if it's a hack/unreleased rom). Doom for SNES was bad enough - this was taking a superior game and putting it on the weaker 16 bit system. VF2, on the other hand, was one hell of an experiment. The friend I was playing this around said he recalled this game really existing. Presentation wise, it was pulled off great - the title screen and character select screen look pretty awesome for Genesis and the fighters look pretty good in gameplay. Unfortunatley, the game plays slowly and doesn't control very well in it's 16 bit faux-3D/2D environment. Worth looking at for the attempt, though.
