Does this mean the return of RNN with weekly updates on the progress of his concussion recovery. I'd say a heel turn and a program with The Rock is the only option for him. There's nobody else that he can go against and have it seem meaningful. The only other route is to put him lower on the card and go against a Benoit or someone else. A good match but nothing that anybody would care a great deal about.

Wrestlers with ridiculous/stupid real names.
evilhomer replied to Nighthawk's topic in General Wrestling
Matt Morgan, while not a ridiculous name, just sounds like a plumber or a dentist, or anything other than a towering, imposing, 7 foot wrestler. Matt Cappotelli sounds more like a pasta dish than a wrestler. -
Ah yes, I forgot to mention them. A double threat, annoying on the eyes and annoying on the ears. WTF were they thinking?

The Christmas Creature Well Dunn is definately up there too, males should never wear thongs, ever. Disco's outfits were horrific, but they did fit in with his character so I'll give him a pass on that one.

I liked that one

Not quite the flatliner/downward spiral which is more like a russian leg sweep. He's using Scott Steiners last finisher from his WWE run (that Taker occasionally uses as well), I believe it was called the painkiller.

Hendrix did Voodoo Child (the one Hogan used) Stevie Ray Vaughan did Voodoo Chile Same song, different artists, different guitar licks, different spellings. I think this is why so many people make this mistake.

Yeah, definately. I've got quite a few albums of Jimi's live stuff and it's not on any of them so I have no idea where the recording came from. I only heard it once but I'm sure it's the same because I remember saying to myself "so they DID rip that one off". It might have gone the route of Jimi-porno-nWo, but Hendrix definately played that at least once.
-
The nWo theme was actually ripped off from a Hendrix live show. I can't recall the song and was never able to catch what album it came from, but I was listening to the radio once and midway through Jimi broke into the nWo theme. It was clearly the exact recording that WCW used for the theme. That one was so obvious that I remember the announcers saying "Well it's either Vince Russo or Ozzy Ozbourne is making an appearance."

My vote goes for Kane. Slightly above average because of his constant blips in the main event scene, but for the most part he toils in the mid-card. Never insanely over, rarely completely unover. Average skills for a man his size. Decent mic skills for his character but lousy overall. Plus he's been doing this for almost 10 years now. It's pretty hard to be a top average for that long without either breaking out or falling completely.

I guess I'm alone in this opinion but I loved how they did the chamber match. HHH could have made the save for Batista but chose not to, then went on to win because of his clothsline. This indirect betrayal is a lot more subtle than HHH hitting him, thus giving them nowhere to go but with an immediate Batista turn. It furthers the storyline of Batista, that gullible lug, being trapped in HHH's spell and gives more momentum to the slow burn of their inevitable confrontation. I really think they've got to make Batista/HHH the mania match now though. It's gained so much momentum that they've got to put this match on one of the big PPV's. Rumble would be too soon and Batista would look like a total idiot if they carry it through to Summerslam.

Which former WCW really benefited from going to
evilhomer replied to MikeJordan23's topic in General Wrestling
Austin, Foley, Undertaker, Nash, Hall, HHH, this list could go on for hours. Nash and Hall are unique examples because they benefited most by going back to WCW, but their WWE work was what really made them. I'd have to put Austin at the top of the list. A midcarder going nowhere with WCW, then quickly put into the main event scene of WWE where he became arguably the biggest star in history. -
Nicknames for wrestlers that you came up with

A-Train - A-Trocious -
I just got the Benoit dvd and saw his Souled Out match with Sid where he won the WCW World Heavyweight title. His reaction was like it was his first win but I would swear that he held it before that. WCW was too much of a mess at this time to follow closely but I did keep up with it to some extent. Was this his first win? How many times did he hold the title?

What was the one angle the WWE screwed up?
evilhomer replied to iliketurtles's topic in The WWE Folder
Besides never happening in the first place, if there was a way that this could have NOT been screwed up, I'd love to hear it -
Suprising moves that a wrestler has used.
evilhomer replied to DangerousDamon's topic in General Wrestling
There was a rumour flying around that Henry lost a lot of weight (before bulking up again) and was able to pull one off in OVW. I never heard of any confirmation on this. Personally I don't believe it happened. -

I can't remember the year but it was Starcade Flair vs Vader. Flair goes up to the top rope and actually hits Vader with a jumping chop or axe handle. Surprising because I saw this match just recently, after having seen Flair get caught and thrown for the 2,346th consecutive time over the past 10+ years. A few power moves that shocked me were The Giant vs. Loch Ness. Nessy was well over 500 lbs and Wight picked him up for a slam and just held him there for over 5 seconds like it was nothing. Also Goldberg vs The Giant, the mentioned Jackhammer was impressive but the throws in that match were equally impressive. Goldie just tossed him from one side of the ring to the other with very little apparent help from Wight. -
There's not enough information in the article to draw any definitive conclusions but I can't agree with some of the opinions here. Certainly it's true that the cops could have restrained him without the tazers but that's not their responsibility. One squirm or fast movement and one of them has a scar for the rest of his life if not worse. You're armed and approached by police, you drop the weapon and comply with their demands. Failure to do so results in whatever consequences they lay on you. Of course on the other side, cops do have a responsibility to protect a suspects safety. I don't know what tazer settings mean, but 10000 times two seems pretty excessive for a 60 lb boy. If the tazers were what put him in the coma then that would back up my assumption. I also don't know what prompted them to use the tazers but they should definately have been an ultimate last resort. The "wanted to try them out" line makes them sound like a pair of dumbasses who were just itching to use them at the very first opportunity.

Turning point for sure. Aside from the great cage match and garbage KOW match, nothing really stood out on it, but the rest of the card produced solid matches. Armageddon felt like a long episode of Smackdown, a long and bad episode. The opener was good but just a standard match that was shown for free earlier. The rest of the card was lousy matches and dumb skits, not even Funaki winning got my interest up. The main event was decent but once again dragged down by shifting the focus to another storyline rather than the match.

Jericho is the absolute peak for the exact reasons you listed. The hype leading up to it and the unsureness really made it memorable. The site of "Jericho" on the screen sent shivers up my spine and made the crowd explode. The great promos they cut really cemented this as the best ever. Other notables not listed that I liked were Christian's single debut and DDP's WWE debut. Christian opera theme was new and completely different and the waterfall fireworks really made him look like something special. I can't remember if he cut a promo but the entrance itself was awesome. As for DDP, his WWE run speaks for itself but I loved that entrance. Everyone's pops for the Undertaker's music and out rolls the masked stalker, instant heel heat. Then he rips the mask off to a loud pop. He cuts a great promo totally dropping the ridiculous stalker storyline, instead introducing himself as a top player here to make an impact. Of course having straight wrestling matches isn't entertaining, so they had to pick up the stalker angle again, producing utter garbage and ruining a great beginning.

Look what he did to WCW. I'd call that bad booking more than a burial for vengeance. Vince took what he had and had a vision for what would be great with it. His vision may have sucked but I have a hard time believing that he intentionally sabotaged histories biggest money angle just to show up a bankrupt company.

This is not your typical WWE year end poll
evilhomer replied to Lord of The Curry's topic in The WWE Folder
Awesomeness. But my vote goes to the Foley rocking chair barbie promo, that one was absolutely chilling. Homoeroticism: Evolution in a landslide. There were moments that were more homosexual, but as far as expecting two guys to break into a passionate embrace at any moment, week in and week out Evolution gets that award. (dis)Honorable mention to Snitsky/Heidenreich. Sign of the year: (at TNA but WWE related) SIGN EVERYONE (except A-Train) It's about goddamn time award: Test -
Heyman removed from WWE writing team
evilhomer replied to Hunter's Torn Quad's topic in The WWE Folder
This point cannot be stressed more. Heyman naysayers always point out how he goes the easy obvious route. Yes, part of what he does is the easy route, he sends good wrestlers out and lets them wrestle to their strengths. Easy, dumb booking, and look at the results, some of the best quality shows in recent memory. On the other hand you've got WWE creative who seem intent on taking wrestlers out of their strength and putting them in a situation where their weak points are emphasized, and it produces total crap. So whose the smart one here, the idiot who does the obvious and produces quality, or the geniuses who run from the obvious and let their creative ideas rot the product. -
First review of the Chyna/X-Pac sex tape
evilhomer replied to GreatWhiteNope's topic in General Wrestling
Well said. The sheer horror of this movie almost makes me want to check it out but I have to resist. Seriously, this kind of thing can scar you for life. -
If the battle royal was for the Intercontinental Title then there's a strong possibility of a title change. As much as I'd love to see Stevie or another lower carder pull off a win, the World Title is too important, or at least is supposed to be too important, to get passed around like that. They're building up HHH as a strong champion who has survived and overcome tremendous adversity. He needs to hold the title here for the sake of that storyline to make the upcoming WM match that much more meaningful.
