WWE 24/7 Discussion Thread - November 2007
EVIL~! alkeiper replied to DrVenkman PhD's topic in WWE Multimedia
The first midget out from the curtain on Jerry Lawler's team looks like a mini Jim Gaffigan. -
I've racked my brain and the net for an answer and came up empty. I think some guys have him beat, but I can't find it.
-
I do. It shouldn't be such a hard thing to arrange, except that the players are a year behind until the Lahman database gets updated.

Since my dad sent something out on my outbox, I occasionally get emails from the HRCC of Pennsylvania. That's some Republican lobbying group. Got this one in today. If you want to lobby for your cause, that is perfectly fine. Politics is all about that. In this case, I agree with them on the merits of the issue. I am against putting tolls on I-80. Principally, it is a national highway and if New Jersey hasn't put tolls on it, no state should. What bothers me is when they try arguments such as the one bolded above. Trucking companies are charging less than they have to currently because there are no tolls on I-80? Putting that aside, gasoline prices have risen 300% in the last eight years. Let me make a quick count of the business lost. Certainly doesn't seem to stop developers from putting up a shopping outlet featuring a Best Buy, or a waterpark themed resort, or a brand new Casino and resort. Honestly, how stupid do you think I am? If you want a good argument, state that drivers will clog already crowded side roads to avoid toll plazas. That's a good argument, and it will carry further appeal to the citizens. It's direct. And on a side note, I'm tired of their "OMG big cities will eat your money" cry that they seem to bring out on every issue.

Congress to Hold Steroid Hearings Next Session
EVIL~! alkeiper replied to Enigma's topic in The WWE Folder
Not in that fashion, but I still have doubts it'll amount to anything. Congress will only care as long as the general public cares. -
11/18: Kids, Cops And Guns

Agreed. And as for the sheer amount of shots fired, try getting into a shootout and tell me how many shots they should have fired. -
He's not mine. I voted for Kudos.

I got a limo explosion. WHAT WILL YOU GET?!
-
That's the stupidest idea I've ever heard. You can't have a best of eight falls match. Though I wonder why they've never done something like a 15 minute IronTables match or something.

Real interesting trade from both sides. Chicago White Sox: Cabrera isn't a great player, but he is a solid performer. The Sox really hurt for quality position players last year, and Cabrera represents a vast improvement over Juan Uribe. And Cheech, where do you get that "can't really field" stuff? Even the Fielding Bible voters had him in the top half of MLB shortstops. The question is whether they think Gavin Floyd can get the job done as the fifth starter or if they have another player to bring in. Charlie Haegar, Lance Broadway and Gio Gonzalez are around, so they have options. Los Angeles Angels: Real bold move to trade a popular, gold glove shortstop. Obviously they have someone in mind for shortstop, be it Maicer Izturis, Erick Aybar, Brandon Wood or Chone Figgins. They have so many options though that again this makes sense. This gives them a solid top five, and perhaps makes Ervin Santana available. This has been a fantastic offseason for the trade market.

Agreed. Most MSG PPVs are fantastic. Summerslam '91, Wrestlemania X, Wrestlemania XX, Summerslam '98, etc. -
Why? He was an impending free agent and they had a capable prospect who just happens to play second base with the exact same skill set(Alexi Casilla). If that's not when you trade a player, I don't know when you do.

I like it. But then again I'm a Phillies fan.

Congrats to the U.S. National team for winning baseball's world cup. The event is held every other year, and Cuba had won each event since 1984. The U.S. beat the Cubans 6-3 in the final.

Ridiculous new rules for wrestling in Georgia
EVIL~! alkeiper replied to Jingus's topic in General Wrestling
I agree with Bix here. Larry Latham (Moondog Spot) died in the ring a few years ago. I don't remember if an ambulance was present or not. Point is though, there is no reason not to have trained medical personnel on site to handle emergencies. If promotions can't handle it, too bad. After all, weren't we so gung-ho on wrestlers' working conditions recently? Can't have it both ways. -
Congress to Hold Steroid Hearings Next Session
EVIL~! alkeiper replied to Enigma's topic in The WWE Folder
I don't think much of this. This is a different committee than the Senate committee that grilled Rafael Palmeiro and Co. two years ago. It sounds like Congressmen trying to earn popularity points by sticking into a hot topic, to be honest. -
How many wrestlers really retire? I think the age is too low though. 25 years after a wrestler's debut, like the Rock 'n' Roll Hall of Fame does, would be an ideal criteria.

WWF was always looking at new female talent to feud with Alundra Blayze. After Bull Nakano, Rhonda was an obvious choice. Certainly she probably got a good word from the Harts since she worked with Stampede Wrestling. -

Did you sell it, or do you still have it? Unfortunately it's lost.

I'll think of something to add to this tomorrow.

Here's a better Joe Nuxhall fact. His 1956 Bowman is the oldest baseball card I ever owned.
