  1. First, please stop capitalizing every other word. Second, a lot of backyard wrestlers do get professionally trained, yet they continue to wrestle in the backyard. Why? Some are too young to just go pro (i.e. they still have HS and college). Some know that they probably won't make any money at it; it's just their hobby. Still others simply don't go pro because to them it's far more fun to hang out with/wrestle their friends, write goofy storylines, and generally just have a good time. Backyard wrestling has been given a bad name by the 'Best of BYW' tapes. The company that produces those tapes isn't a wrestling promotion. They're a video production company and have never promoted a single BYW show in their 5 years of existence. They ask feds to send them tapes and they edit them. That's all they do. (Even the term 'backyard wrestling' has such a negative connotation to it; I'm trying to come up with a new term to describe what we do. Right now, I say NCW is in the 'sports entertainment' industry.) Basically, BYW is more about technical wrestling and high-flying acrobatics than about double-table barbed-wire Texas Death matches. Proof? NCW:BWA, NCW British Columbia, NCW Ireland
  2. He's the gentleman on the right. (EDIT: I wasted my 1000th post on.....this? )
  3. Yeah, some do in highly competitive markets. I'm the founder and operator of National Championship Wrestling, an alliance of 12 backyard wrestling feds from six countries and three continents. We're the NWA of backyard wrestling! Here's my advice to the HWF to become more successful; that is, if you want to be successful, if not then ignore the following: 1. Don't rip off the WWE so overtly. Overtaker, Andy Morton, and a Duke Droese ripoff all just scream 'unoriginal.' 2. Post pics of your matches!! I'm assuming you'll do this once you finish making your site, as you say you're doing. 3. And take down the pic of Trish Stratus, unless she works for you guys.
  4. Good to see Tim White refereeing again, or at least trying to. Perhaps he could make his return at WM? (with more painkillers, I'm assuming)
  5. Hogan wouldn't go for that....he'll NEVER retire. In 20 years you'll still see him active, like George Steele is today.
  6. Ah, shades of WCW PPVs from 97-00.
  7. Isn't it odd to think that in 10 years Billy Gunn will be in the WWE Hall of Fame?
  8. I'm unbeatable at Streets of Rage 1+2 and WCW/nWo Revenge.
  9. They used Linda's instrumental theme for WMs 9-14.
  10. Remember, PPV themes are either: -in-house production music (Armageddon, SSlam 02, NM02, JDay 03, NWO 04) -exclusive tracks ('Crack Addict' for WMXIX) -current or future singles from an up-and coming artist (every single other theme since InVasion)
  11. Odd how LA will get 2 ppvs in an 18-month span....
  12. Maybe they'll put them high above the fans, like they did with Jesse and Gorilla for WrestleMania 3, 4, 5, and 6. Nah...They'll just do the double Table design like they used to...Wonder if that leaves room for the Spanish table tho.. Well, at WMX they had room for Vince/King and the WWF Radio table too, so I suppose it could work.
  13. And don't forget Disco! And Megadeth.
  14. Same here, and I just looked yesterday. However, the WWE didn't register their current logo until 5/26/02, 3 weeks after they started using it. WCW's 'Star of David' logo didn't get registered until 5/5/99, the day that they started using it. So Vince could debut a new logo at WMXX and register it the next day without fear of somebody stealing the idea because it will have already been used in commerce.
  15. Exactly. The circumcised WW_ scratch logo sucks. Although having an "E" in it would piss me off just the same. I think that they may have done it to kind of step down gradually from the Attitude logo, so to speak. I mean, if they changed their logo/identity COMPLETELY on 5/5/02, then there would have been a lot of confusion among the public. Imagine if they'd changed the name to, say, WCW and they used the red Alliance logo. People would be wondering for MONTHS, "Where'd the WWF go?" when they saw WCW shows in TV Guide. Anyway, better to just chop off the F for a while, then make something more stylized. Just don't make a total change all at one.
  16. I would mark if the banner over the ring dropped to reveal the WWF logo and Vince got on the mic and proclaimed "Fuck the pandas!" It HAS to be a new-style block 'WWF' logo if this happens.
  17. Don't forget that they allowed pinfalls and submissions in WW3 '98 as well.
  18. They aren't doing British PPVs anymore. And why would they hold a 'Best of WM' clipshow in an arena?
  19. And I stand corrected regarding the last WCW tape released in the US...I guess I was wrong.
  20. Big Bully Busick.
  21. I think Vince should induct him in absentia as a sign of goodwill. Then, maybe Bruno will be willing to tape an induction speech later and they can air it on RAW or something.
  22. No mention of Hogan's attempt at a fireball against Warrior at Halloween Havoc '98? -=Mike *Warrior walks around dazed* *Hogan crouches in corner holding lighter and flash paper* Hogan: C'mon, c'mon.... *paper doesn't light* Hogan:...dammit!
  23. And that would be unacceptable. Why not? It's the best-case scenario: both deserving faces get the belt: Shawn in his favorite arena, Benoit in his hometown.
