UFC 66 (12/30/06): Liddell v. Ortiz 2
Hunter's Torn Quad replied to Mik's topic in Mixed Martial Arts
Liddell to win in Round Three or Ortiz to steal it in Round Two. 850,000 buys. -
I keep getting that too as well as the "PHP has encountered an Access Violation at Random Large Number" problem.

Abyss should pin Sting so he doesn't look like a total joke as Champion, but I wouldn't be surprised to see Sting pin Abyss or Christian to pin Sting so we get yet another title change in TNA. Why is this not the main event? I can only guess it's because we're not getting a clean finish here so they figure putting the match second to last won't end the PPV on a screwjob. If we get a screwjob, then it's probably a no-contest or Angle by DQ or something. This one is probably Dutch's baby, so that means AMW win and we'll likely see LAX refuse to honor the stipulation. Daniels wins when Lynn turns on Sabin AJ wins because Rhino appears to be doing a losing streak gimmick when it comes to PPV. Senshi. Why is this bullshit even happening? Serotonin. Not that it'll matter, because they've already been established as nobody to take seriously. Nobody cares?

I forgot all about this one:

Given how both feel about the incident, I would say it's a safe bet that they their promo's would be strong enough that they won't need the footage. -

From the ROH Board: -
It's a very bad for the short-term for Misawa to get the belt back. He's not going to hold the belt long as it's pretty much set in stone that Morishima is their next ace and is getting the GHC title from Misawa, maybe even as soon as the next GHC Title match. Where that becomes a problem is that it would make three of the last four GHC Champions short-term champions and that damages a title. One short term champion isn't bad, and can help if means avoiding a match you want to build to for a long time, but to have two in a row would be distinctly un-Japanese and I don't think it would make the GHC Title look strong at all. Where this can be good long term is if Misawa does drop the belt to Morishima and Morishima has a long, very long, run with the title. A, hopefully, legendary title run would do wonders for making the GHC Title special again, which it hasn't been since the Kobashi reign.

Apparently, the latest Observer says the main event plan for Wrestlemania on Raw is Cena against either HHH or Orton.
-
Bret getting the belt had nothing to do with Flair's inner-ear problem. It was a combination of Vince needing to create a new top babyface and it being one that wasn't going to test positive for steroids, because Vince was dead serious about the testing back then.

Why would anyone want TNA to have another title? The three titles they have now barely mean anything as it is with how they've been booked. A fourth title isn't going to be treated any different, so why bother? Just have Killings declare his desire to be NWA Champion again and build towards that. It's not rocket science. -
Hogan's ego would never let him be portrayed in such a manner. Besides, it's never a good idea to point out the legit weaknesses of a babyface, especially a nostalgia act like Hogan where people are going to want the reality to match up to the fantasy. Not only that, if they run this match, they're going to want Hogan to slam Show, and I don't see Hogan physically capable of it, no matter how much weight Show loses.

The buy rate for Wrestlemania 19 would seem to dispute that theory. Yes, there will be a set number of people who will buy Wrestlemania no matter what, but you'll get a larger number of buys by putting on matches that a greater number of people will pay to see.

I believe it's a group prayer. Or something like that.

Think we'll see more of Cena headlining the Smackdown PPV's? If he helps with Armageddon, he'll be back for sure.
-
It's a Smackdown PPV, so just remember that before deciding on whether to go. Unless they shake things up, you're likely to get a rematch of something they'll have run on Smackdown in the previous month, or maybe Batista vs. Booker Part 496. I guess if they really do go with Batista vs. Undertaker at WM, and Batista is ending the streak, then you might see them do a non-title match to set up the WM match. I'd wait until closer to the PPV so you have an idea of what you'll see. You won't have to worry about the PPV selling out.

Probably because he's been doing nothing of value since 3LK broke up. Konnan went on to do LAX, BG formed The James Gang/VKM with Kip, while Killings has been a card filler. -
Vince wants to recreate Hogan vs. Andre for the 20th anniversary of WM III. Vince couldn't let a WCW made star look better than his homegrown names. It's why Vince never makes the Invasion angle work, even when it's so easy to do.

Hunter's Torn Quad replied to The Decemberists's topic in TNA Wrestling
Was there a two-hour Impact that some people saw that the rest of us didn't? The two-hour show was just as rushed as the normal Impact, perhaps more so. -

Yes, but it didn't draw money or lead to anything that could draw money. Is it wrong that it didn't draw money? Not so much. But it was 20 minutes of time that could have been devoted to something that might have drawn money at the next PPV. I know it's a sin around here lately to dare to think about anything that happens in terms of how it draws money, which is kind of the point of the wrestling business, because lord knows it's far more important to think purely about your own enjoyment and to hell with something as minor as making money. Comedy doesn't draw. Comedy is fine for the midcard, but in the main events need something to get emotionally involved in to where you want to pay to see the match it's building. Goofy skits involving two guys who are meant to be draws doesn't do that. It makes you laugh, which is fine, but people don't pay $34.95 to see two comedians wrestle. Austin and Rock didn't draw 1 million buys because of any stupid comedy. They drew money because of two strong personalities. Hunter and Batsita didn't draw almost a million buys because of any comedy skits. They drew those buys because the World Title was important to both men, and Batista wanted to take it while Hunter wanted to keep it. But I'm just thinking about the big picture and how things should make money, and we can't have that, can we? -
A casual fan on the internet is going to go to WWE.com and that's about it. It's one thing to go online and see the latest WWE news on their own website. It's another to go beyond that, and check other news sites, message boards, etc. That type of fan is what is generally meant when people talk about fans on the internet. The ones who go to message boards like this. A casual fan isn't going to bother with that. That's why they're called casual.
