MMA Comments that Don't Warrant a Thread
NoCalMike replied to RavishingRickRudo's topic in Mixed Martial Arts
I would like to find Anderson Silva's "Spider Silva" song he sometimes comes out with. I saw him live in Sacramento and the song was a great entrance theme. -
So I left my last job/was fired a couple of weeks ago and posted my resume on career builder and got called for a temp-to-perm job. Basically the company wanted the agency to send them someone that could train, do the job and be hired on within three months. So the original job I was told about was a data entry job. There were three spots open and the insurance company wanted to bring in about ten people to interview and have the best three selected. So as I was driving home from that session, the agency calls me back and says there is another position with their sister company in the auditing department and for this one there is no interview because the company is trusting the agency with their judgement to send them someone good, they just wanted to look at my resume. Well they did and were happy enough with it so I just got called to start tomorrow. Training schedule for a week is Noon to Five and then the regular schedule is a swing shift 11:30-8pm. It will be kinda nice not to have to wake up early in the morning since I am not a morning person and the most trouble I have been in with past jobs is the fact that I never seemed to be awake fully until around noon anyway. Anyways the job itself is processing online payments. Basically when someone makes a payment online, I am the guy on the other end uploading your payment and processing it. We'll see how it goes. It doesn't pay too great, but the company said once I am hired on there is a significant jump in salary as I will probably be given more tasks/responsibility as long as everything works on during the probationary period(the first three months I am on the payroll of the temp agency) Needless to say I'm pretty happy with the job as the requirements were, "Internet Savvy, very basic Word & Excel skills" LOL.

THE NEXT KARATE KID and no I don't mean Hilary Swank
NoCalMike replied to BUTT's topic in Television & Film
It seems you're right. So it's part remake of Karate Kid 1 & 2? Hoo, boy who gets to play Sato? -
http://news.aol.com/elections/article/repu...atorship/243817 Yeah I wonder if Rep. Paul Broun has been as vocal with his reservations about groups such as Blackwater who are basically a civilian mercenary group fighting in Iraq that do not answer to the Gov't. and who were dispatched to New Orleans in the Katrina aftermath.

Portis has a sprained MCL. He is questionable for the game Sunday Assuming he plays and is healthy enough to be effective, I think the Redskins will win another close game. They just seem to matchup well with the Cowboys because they always seem to stop Barber and they have the secondary(especially now with Hall playing 3rd or 4th) to stop the passing attack. A team like the Cowboys, with all their egos, might result in disaster when put in a "must win" situation. Not all teams win because it is a must-win. Some melt down, and the Cowboys seem like a good candidate for the latter. Redskins 24 Cowboys 21 Oh, and if Portis doesn't play, or is too hurt to be effective, then I think the Redskins will lose.

So from the previews it looks like Jamie Lynn still wants her some Turtle.... I could see either going the "Vince aint a great actor" route, or the opposite direction with the director just seeing something in Vince that he is trying to bring out, and Vince will be thankful when the experience is over for what he learned....!?! Who knows.

THE NEXT KARATE KID and no I don't mean Hilary Swank
NoCalMike replied to BUTT's topic in Television & Film
WHY OH WHY? So the remake is really a re-imagining, because if they are using a ten year old then it is going to be considerably different from the original. This has already has a huge cloud of suck surrounding it with a heavy downpour of awfulness likely to begin anytime soon. -
Well now that I have a new job starting tomorrow, it is safe to say that I will be buying this PPV. It was in jeopardy as I knew for sure they December one was being purchased, so this one almost was going to be watched at the sportsbar to save a little cash, but alas, I have a job!!! GAME ON!!!!

The Things That Anger You Thread.
NoCalMike replied to Man Who Sold The World's topic in General Chat
When you call tech support and the indian guy on the other line says his name is "Jason" hahaha, yeah right. -
Comedy Central presents some programming unedited on Friday/Saturday late-night telecasts. Of course living on the West Coast and getting an east coast feed from Dish Network, 10pm is not so "late-night" hahaha!!!

I applauded McCain for saying that the jobs weren't coming back, if you are willing to search through the hundreds of posts for it. I'm not idiot. I don't think that the Auto Industry is going to become as big as it once was. But just abandoning the industry? To me, that's stupid, and the numbers indicate as such. Christ, do I have to say this again? It's what the consumer wanted. I understand that it was short-sighted, but to act like they were doing this despite people wanting the gas-efficient cars, you have to recognize American consumers for wanting these sorts of cars. The sudden skyrocket in gas prices killed them, and they've been actually working hard to get back to where they were (They've actually jumped a great deal across the board when it comes to the quality of cars). They've been putting a lot of development into hybrids and alternative energy cars, I doubt they're going to do a fucking reverse course now, so if you'd just shut the fuck up with a stupid, unconfirmed and (from a manufacturing standpoint) impossible rumor, it'd be nice. Secondly, you realize that this drop in gas is not a regular gas drop, and shouldn't be compared to what you are talking about. We have gas at about 1.99 in Detroit (Likely to be lower after they remove the 19 cent gas tax), something that hasn't happened since gas started skyrocketing. So before you start up with your "OMG REVELATION", take into account that this gas drop is not the traditional one and shouldn't be taken as such, though I wouldn't bank on it lasting much more than a year or so (if that). If I sound a little irate, it's because I've been dealing with so many people who are just ready to say "Fuck off, Auto Industry" without realizing that it's going to do serious permanent damage to the US Economy. You think it's bad now? Letting go of the Auto Industry is basically going to put manufacturing into a fucking nosedive. Well sure they wanted those cars, but millions of dollars went into advertising those cars. First it was all the advertising about driving in rough terrain, to make men feel like a "real man" driving around in the mountains. Then when that wasn't even good enough millions more was spent on advertising to soccer moms falsing claiming how much safer it would be to be driving around a huge SUV on the road. I am not saying that people themselves aren't somewhat responsible, but these corporations have very expensive and clever advertisement departments for a reason. Also, under Bush weren't potential car buyers getting flaunted with a tax break for buying these things? When it should have been the other way around, people getting tax breaks for buying fuel efficient cars?

Oh another thing, When looking over a listing of rolls and what is in them, "crab meat" is usually code for the processed imitation crab junk you find in California rolls. If it says "crab" or "soft shell crab" then it actually means CRAB. I dunno if it's a California, or a left coast or a universal Sushi thing but at most places I have been, a "Spider Roll" usually always contains the real deal Crab or Softshell Crab and not the processed junk. Rainbow Rolls are a mixed bag depending on where you get them. Some places, a rainbow roll is merely a California roll w/ sliver of salmon on top, but some other places they go all out with Rainbow Rolls. I had some smoked salmon nigiri the other night, the place I go tops it off with the tiniest sliver of lemon and a few specs of pickled cabbage. It is to die for. Hell, even the regular salmon and tuna are f'n fantastic.

Jermain Taylor v. Jeff Lacy next saturday on HBO while UFC is on PPV...........I am ordering UFC, but boxing will surely be DVR'd in the back.
-
The payouts for this show just go to show you that being an MMA fighter really doesn't pay off financially yet unless you are in the UFC, and near the top of the card as it is. Plus the fact that in a company like UFC, if you are not a top three draw, a couple of losses in a row can land you unemployed and relegated to dark show matches. The sport is growing but it is not nearly as big as some people like to think it is.

UFC 93: Dan Henderson vs. Rich Franklin Mark Coleman vs. Shogun International Event so it should be free on Spike!!! So two BIG SHOWS in January!!!

The first fine is questionable at the least. The sack on Campbell is against the rules as far as what my interpretation is when it comes to "cannot life the QB off of his feet and drive him into the ground" I mean it was basically a belly-to-back suplex. Once he had Campbell wrapped up, he could have just taken him down without the suplex move.

I outlined my thoughts earlier in this thread. The advanced stats (from Football Outsiders) indicate that he's one of the worst corners in the league. Scouting reports differ heavily. On one hand, he has the speed and instincts to be a shutdown corner, but it doesn't appear that he has the will or the smarts to actually employ his natural gifts. There are certain systems that he might excel in; the Raiders were not one of them. Dude's got a horrible attitude, too. Perhaps that can be rectified by playing for a real organization. But when Atlanta AND Oakland give up on you it doesn't look so good. Yeah these are my worries, haha. Well at least the Redskins only signed him through the rest of this season and gave up nothing to get him, so it's not like this was a "Dallas trades 3 drafy picks for Roy Williams" kind of move.

If you are thinking about going to a sushi buffet, make sure it is made-to-order and not a place where they make a bunch and it sits out forever until people eat it. Rolls are good, but sometimes all the mayonaise-y sauce just gets in the way of the good taste of the fish. Most people get into Sushi by ordering rolls, but then develop a taste for this fish itself and start ordering Sashimi or Nigiri instead. I live by a place that is all you can eat made to order for $13.95 which is pretty much the price of one "premium" roll anywhere else. It's hella good. If you are new to wasabi, mix it with soy sauce before applying to sushi. Unless you hate soy sauce of course. Look around before you decide on a place as Sushi can be expensive for the amount you actually get. Try and stay away from trendy areas because they tend to charge more merely for the part of town they are located in.

Redskins signed DeAngelo Hall today. Any Falcon or Raider fan have any insight on this guy for me? From what I have seen the guy has some talent but is just an underachiever. I think he has been to a couple of probowls in his young career. Does he suck or was he just mailing it in as a Raider? He isn't better then Springs or Rogers, so I have to think he was signed because Springs gets injured so much at his old age. Also he can probably help out at the nickel position since Greg Blache likes to run a lot of different Zone coverages.

Wladimir vs. Hasim Rahman in December.
-
For me personally I am on the verge of not even ordering it. I'll be watching it either way as there is a Hooters a block from my house, but when I look at how great the December card is, and with my finances tightening a little bit lately, if it comes down to making a choice, I will skip this PPV and order the December one.

I wouldn't be suprised to see Faber get an immediate rematch. He was on a hell of a streak and it wasn't like he was a champ who won, then loss, then won, then loss. Plus with his name recognition I am sure business-wise, WEC is going to want him at or near the top of the card as much as possible for the forseable future.

MikeSC has been unbanned again?

Damn I didn't even know he was still in WWE. Just another solid talent wasted and let go. Well hey, at least the pay was good. Good Luck Super Crazy, hope something more along the lines of what you want comes along.

Well a lot of the young black people of today probably come from homes and households where many relatives did go through the struggle. I am 28, my Dad is in his early 60's, he lived in the times of segregation and jim crow laws. That is ONE GENERATION away from that shit still going on. I am not black but it still kind of hits me as remarkable that when my dad was my age(well a little bit younger) black folks were barely winning their civil rights and today Barack Obama is president. Maybe the emotion from the youth is coming from the pride and thankfulness that their own parents and grandparents, aunts, uncles etc....are witnessing history. I was pretty damn sure I would see a black president in MY liftime, but maybe not in my parent's lifetime, so it is nice for them to witness history as well.
