One and Only Star Wars Geekiness Thread
NoCalMike replied to Black Lushus's topic in Television & Film
If anyone gets an E-C-DUB chant going during any of the duels, they better have a tape recorder on them to share the awesomeness with the smart marks. -
Re-signing Matt Hardy and feuding him and Edge
NoCalMike replied to Lord of The Curry's topic in The WWE Folder
I'd love for them to pair up Lita & Edge, only for Edge to start fucking some other ring rat, which means Lita gets fired in the process. -
Why claim "enviornmentalism is a cult" when it seems most of your anger and skepticism revolves around global warming? What about smaller but also important issues?Certainly things like local pollution making the air we breathe bad quality, mass dumping of harmful toxins into the ground where it runs off into drinking water among other issues alram you or at least make you think it can't be good for the enviornment, no? I mean, I suppose there is enough evidence on both sides of the GLOBAL WARMING ISSUE to either believe it or not believe it, and still have a foot to stand on, but I get kind of confused when you talk about enviornmentalism as a whole issue when all you are really arguing about is Global Warming.

One Night Stand To Receive Little Promotion by WWE
NoCalMike replied to Dimensions's topic in The WWE Folder
Considering Vince claims he wants the "true ECW feel" does this mean we get the SMALLER RING, and the TIGHTER ROPES? Because that is almost essential for some of those cruiserweight classics and in order to keep up the tempo in matches. -
Well one thing is for sure and that is Triple H has the fuel to make Hemsley/Batista III because when he pedigreed Batista he had him covered for the 50 count almost.....

The movie opens here today in Sacramento. I think the main objective of the movie is to try and disspell any conensus that Enron was somehow a "wonderful company.....gone bad" and that it was rotten to the core way before financial troubles began. Well at least that is what the local reviewer implies. I think I might see this sometime in the next week or so.

I have seen a Phillips and Sony model currently in ads, if that is the 30" you are talking about. If so, I would go with Sony since it features HDMI inputs.

You'll excuse me if I don't share the view that everyone on welfare got there due to poor decisions, rather than economic and social obstacles. Not to mention plenty of marijuana users lead productive lives.

100% agree, what's more ironic is that these are the same people who gladly pay almost $2.00 everyday for bottled water and/or over $3.00 for a damn cup of coffee from Starbucks. It's not like all these people weren't warned, I mean even when gas was moderately priced, some of these "fuck-you" mobiles still cost approx $50 to fill up from an empty tank. I just wonder how long this will continue until our government's answer changes from "well I guess we will just have to find some more oil somewhere" to "OK maybe oil isn't the long term solution we should be seeking"
-
If I just drive to work and back during the weekdays, I still have enough gas left on the weekends to run errands, thus only having to fill the tank once a week. In June I am moving in with my girlfriend and we work approx a mile apart from each other which means we can carpool. So my situation looks to be taken care of for awhile.

I can't wait.

Bush also said former military bases should be converted into oil refineries. Greaaaaaaaaaat, you wanna see your property value tumble, as well as the local enviornment plunder. I am sure new communities all over the country can hardly wait for "shut in" days where people are advised to stuff towels in doorways to prevent the harmful emissions from getting into their houses. So basically the plan is to just get more oil, not to encourage people to conserve or even pretend to care about looking into alternative sources of energy.....and the myth goes on that american citizens are somehow entitled to low gas prices at any and all costs, which still probably won't even happen if drilling takes place in Alaska. On a less important sidenote: I am still wondering why gas prices haven't dropped somewhat, considering all I have heard on the news the last two weeks is that gas crude oil prices have gone down more then two dollars, yet gas has remained at $2.58 here for regular unleaded.

After a botch field goal attempt on two plays in a row in the 1999 Divisional playoffs, I surely thought the Redskins would come back in 2000 and at least get to the NFC Championship, I bought into Snyder's FA signing spree......

D!SH. The thing is Jobber, eventually I am getting an HDTV, but honestly, I have looked into the prices of good ones, with HDMI, not just DVI and Component hookups, then looked into the price for cables and all that stuff, and even though I might barely be able to afford to if I break the bank, I really can't justify it just yet considering HD programming is so limited right now. Plus like I said, I am partial to the Theater SOUND, if it came down to a choice of one or the other.

Texas Legislators vote to ban gay foster parents
NoCalMike replied to SuperJerk's topic in Current Events
inverting "gay" back into this thread. An amendment to say change the CA constitution to say two consenting adults can be married is working it's way through CA courts. -
Private Accounts still don't address what will happen to people that draw social security money out for non retirement reasons, such as disability. Allowing private accounts takes away from the overall pot. The solution should be how to make the pot bigger, not for each individual to take a percentage of money out of the overall pot, considering social security is there for the american public not individuals, it is not a program designed for each individual to get as much as they can out of it, it is a retirement supplement, that is all it was ever supposed to be a supplement to other income earned through working from young adulthood to retirement age. If they want social security to stop decreasing in funds, take the stupid cap off the 80,000k and tax entire incomes, and then make a law or sign a bill stating that the government cannot under any circumstances STEAL errrr.......borrow(without ever putting back) money from the social security pot to pay for other programs.

Do they even sell 16x9, NON HD screen TVs?

I thought Trinidad would KO Hopkins.

I am moving into a house Memorial Day weekend, and luckily if I have enough money left over, I am going to be getting a tv. I am just wondering which is better to get, a High-end analog TV such as a Sony Trinitron 300 series(as opposed to the 100 base series) or shell out the extra 2-300 dollars for what would certainly end up being a lower-end HDTV. Let me also say that my preference when watching DVDs is sound. I would rather have a decent picture, with kick-ass sound, then an awesome picture with tv speaker sound. The question is whether the extra $2-300 dollars would be well spent just to say "look I have an HDTV" when in reality it would be a low end HD TV that would most likely need an additional HD Tuner sometime down the road to make it TRUE HD. I was dead set on HD for the fanatical "HD on the brain" reasons, but then I looked at the price of wires and cables, and then all the additional things you need to truly make it HD, including paying extra to the satellite service to get HD channels, and I really have a hard time justifying getting HD just yet, but I wanted some opinions from the board..........

The problem today is that corporations have too much power and are pretty much absolved of any wrong doing. For every ENRON scandal, there is probably ten more similar companies doing the same thing, a lot sneakier. Left and Right you see our government making decision after decision that does nothing but either give big business a big handout, or strips another regulation that they were supposed to abide by. The first step is to reverse the supreme court decision that a corporation should be protected by the same rights as an individual, then things would slowly domino from there, but that first step will be nearly impossible in today's world.

The Kings got hosed by the officials in the first half, how many times do they need to draw contact inside before a damn foul is called? Of course the main reason they are losing is because they are shooting just as poor as they did in the first game...this is depressing. Second half starting now.....
-
Yeah it sucks to know that our record wouldn't be any different right had we kept Mulder & Hudson. The pitching is not the problem. The offense is horrible, and the depressing part is that it is getting worse by the day....... Time to put plans on hold for my next outing to the Colliseum.

Another classic "my team can't get it done in the playoffs" look of defeat on the face of Mark Cuban. I love it...... Go Sacramento, tie the series up tomorrow!!
