Affliction - Banned: Fedor vs. Sylvia
NoCalMike replied to Lord of The Curry's topic in Mixed Martial Arts
Question: Why did affliction decide to go PPV with their first show? Was it merely because it was a pretty stacked card? Was it the only way possible to try and recoup money spent on making the show happen? -
I still watch it....the season is now starting to pick up.....the closing to last week's episode was hilarious......new show tonight!!!

Anyone know when the Resident Evil 5 Demo is going to be available?

Well the Skins problem with their D-line was mainly getting to the QB. With the exception of the 2006 season, the Skins D was pretty good against the run under Gregg Williams, but they always needed LBer help to rush the QB. Andre Carter is pretty solid, his first season he was transitioning back to the DE spot from LBer which the 49ers moved him to. He had a pretty solid year last year, and now with Taylor on the other end, it will take away any potential double-team that teams had planned for Carter. I like the movie in itself, I just hope Taylor is with the team long enough for the offense to get good enough to put points on the scoreboard.

Oh and the theater crowd I was in, gave Heath Ledger a standing ovation when his name flashed on the screen during the credits. It was moving.

Just got back. A Masterpiece. I loved it. I even got interviewed by the local news and a friend taped the news and I actually made the broadcast. Haha. I got asked a bunch of questions but I think just a short 10 second clip made the actual broadcast..... I could see a third installment made with maybe the Joker playing a smaller part from inside a jail cell or something, maybe a Hannibal Lector-esque role where he is manipulating things from the inside all the while planning an escape, while are the main villians for the next go around. Or, really I could see them going Joker-less in the third installment in order to give everyone a collective sigh and exhale, while planning his return in a fourth installment with someone else cast as him, of course talking a fourth installment is getting way ahead of the game really. Really, I could write so much more, but 33 pages into this thread, everything that could be said has, I guess it is time to turn the conversation to the future of the series and the possibilities....so I eagerly await that conversation.

Well yeah I better fandango my tix afterall because as of now, all seven midnight show screenings are sold the fuck out. Wow, either fandango is slow at updating their websites, or the theater got bumrushed with purchases this morning. I think a 7:30 showtime sounds good for Friday. EDIT: Umm, wtf....something is up with the fandango website, now it says tix available.....for almost all the midnight shows....wtf?

I usually just get everything on it......unless it is a hot sub, like a meatball sub...then usually just cheese & onions.

Name a food you didn't like/truly appreciate....
NoCalMike replied to NoCalMike's topic in Food Folder
Yes Celery is a food I hate more and more. As a kid it was merely that waste of a space filler in a bunch of side dishes, but now I actually quiver when I think about it. It sucks too because a lot of grocery stores use it in all their potato/macaroni/pasta salads that would otherwise be pretty killer. -
Is the Grande Meal the thing with 5 Tacos, 5 Burritos, and your choice of either Nachos or a Mexican Pizza? If it is....(or similar to that) then it has always been $10 where I live.... And for the time being if I am going to taco bell, I am buying off the value menu. The Big taste taco and cheesy beefy melt are good enough for me.

I just bought Begins on blu-ray this past weekend and watched it all the way through for what was probably the second time, and I still don't think it is that great. Just good, but none-the-less I am still uber geeked-out for Dark Knight, just because quite simply it looks awesome. I am not someone who thinks you had to gush over Begins in order to be hyped for Dark Knight. As far as Friday goes....originally I was going to fandango my tix, but jesus christ it is playing on eight screens at the theater by my house, and so far tomorrow's midnight show only has one of the seven screens sold out. I think I will just play it by ear and call moviefone on Friday during work, and if I need to fandango tix during the day I will, I mean shit with a showing every 45 mins or so, i don't consider it that big a deal if I have to wait till the following showing.

Not to pile on Beck or anything...well yes, to pile on to Beck....his tv show is the epitome of a circle jerk, at least a show like Hannity & Colmes pretends to have opposing opinions by throwing Colmes and random quasi-liberal generic blonde chick on to argue. On Beck's TV show, he just brings on a guest on the topic that is in a 100% agreement and they basically jerk each other off until it is time for a commercial break. I have never heard his radio show so I can't comment on that.

Considering last week they gave in and took it in the ass for Bush's immunity act for the telecom companies.....it isn't looking good.

Would there be enough interest between our loyal food folder bretheren to start a "I made this thread" that included posting a pic of whatever dish it is we just made? It would be similar to the recipe thread, except this time, after we make something, we snap a pic and attach it to our post.....

Another one I remember is Root Beer.....I can't recall ever having a bad experience, but I must have cause through most of my childhood I never wanted to touch the stuff for some reason and then a friend finally had enough and I tried it and loved it. Also, Sushi. It's not that I ever didn't like it. but it was one of those things that as a youth it was cool to just say "Ewww raw fish is gross you idiot" Once I tried it I loved it. -
How liberal are we going with what constitutes a hot dog? I mean what about HOT LINKS? The thing is, I agree that a good burger always beats a good hot dog, but are we talking about for the purpose of a BBQ itself or in general? For the purpose of a BBQ, lets say a 4th of July BBQ......Hot Dogs are a lot more inexpensive to feed the masses, and most people will be more then happy with merely a line of mustard or ketchup(ewww) on their hot dog, where as w/burgers more money to buy all the lettuce/tomato/onion etc etc...plus cheese. Cooking time is also tipped heavily in hot dogs favor. Taste - Burger Cost - Hot Dog Cooking Time - Hot Dog Extras required - Hot Dog Me personally, I eat hamburgers enough at non-bbq events where as BBQs are about the only time I am scarfing down hot dogs(although I do love eating them at baseball games but they are damn expensive).

I am actually one of the few people out there that thought Batman Begins was just decent-to-good. However from what I have seen from TDK....I am still super-f'n pumped for it.

After rewatching the fight, it seemed clear that going into the fight Rampage's gameplan was to slowly draw Forrest in and then KTFO. The problem was, once Rampage's leg got all fucked up, he had a hard time putting any weight/pressure on that leg and he didn't have a practical gameplan from there on out. He was constantly hoping Forrest would make a mistake, like he did in the first round(well I dunno if it was a mistake as much as Rampage just firing off a good shot). Forrest was the aggressor the remainder of the fight. Personally, I scored the fight a draw, but I am perfectly fine with the decision and look forward to a rematch where you can bet your ass Rampage is probably going to be a lot more aggressive a lot sooner.

2nd episode was pretty good. At first I questioned moving the series out of "Agrestic" or whatever the suburb was called, but I think the new setting is actually pretty cool.

Sometimes its not just about the number of channels available, rather who owns them all. For example, clear channel owns hundreds of stations all over the world, so when an order comes down from the CEO, it is going to effect every single clear channel outlet. Same with TV networks, there might be a gazillion channels, but if 4-5 companies own every single channel, are you really getting a vast amount of voices?
