Bush promotes measure against gay marriage
NoCalMike replied to EdwardKnoxII's topic in Current Events
It's very early in the morning, and I don't really have time to point out how incredibly ridiculous I find your point of view. So I'll just say this: as I've said many times before, the majority of people in this country are against gay marriage - and while that doesn't make the majority right, I'm sure that those tens of millions (perhaps hundreds of millions) who aren't peachy keen with the idea of gay marriage don't ALL believe that way because a) they're conservative or b) because of religion. And I'm gonna say this, too: this is virtually a political NONissue in terms of the election. The differences between Kerry & Bush on this are almost negligible - and come November, people are going to decide whether to vote for Bush or Kerry on much bigger issues than this one. Well since neither candidate supports gay marriage, I think it is more telling to see if they both support civil unions, and if SO, would Bush be more likely to cave on that issue if the religious right start pulling on their strings. -
I want to get some horror movie themed ring tones, I once heard someone with the Exorcist for their ring tone. The only thing holding me back right now is the desire to upgrade my phone first.

No one is angry that Benoit is winning, but the problem is, and it is the biggest issue out of the entire feud, is that whenever Benoit wins, Triple H makes it a point the next night to sweep it under the rug and declare that he is still the God, the Game, the greatest etc......He never shows any damn humility after a loss. Add to that, the fact that Triple H is getting the title back to end the this fued at Summerslam, and I am sure Jim Ross/Lawler and Triple H will do their best to make sure the other 3 matches didn't really matter anyway. I mean seriously were you listening tonight to Jim Ross, "If Benoit is considered #1, then you have to consider Triple H 1A" I mean WTF, is it THAT BAD to be called #2, or just simply #1 contender, or "right under him" "1A" get the fuck out of here with that noise.

I just find it Ironic that in the article it says, that the Terrorists are trying to disrupt our democratic procedures, yet how the hell is our own government changing/delaying the date not interrupting democratic procedures? Shouldn't we be firm on the election date to show they can't scare us into doing something drastic like, oh say.....the Patriot Act?

Bush promotes measure against gay marriage

I still don't see how gay marriage hurts anyone, or why anyone would even go to the effort to put forth a constitutional amendment in the first place to ban gay marriage. -
"There's no easy way out" is the best I am also fond of the song that plays during the credits of Rocky II, but it isn't on the Rocky Story CD...

Well that is what happens when pretty much you have lost massive support for other sings such as Iraq and the Economy. Hell, he needs to get his support from SOMEWHERE these days, and looks like he is going to use the good ol' religious right. -
This story is just one of those instances where there has never been a clear answer. Everytime a document is released to as "proof" it has been either heavily edited, or just had big chunks blacked out. So finally the request comes for the actual documents that will decide this matter once and for all, and they just happened to have been "inadvertenly destroyed" I understand coincidences do happen, but coincidence after coincidence as to why no information can be provided and no one can seem to remember a damn thing, it kind of becomes suspicious.

I remember a tiny blurb about this story awhile back, and then it just up and dissapeared, which either means complete bullshit, or there is some truth to the story. I wonder if there have been any updates.

I'll be right there running next to ya.

Well lets at least HOPE that none of this is true.

well razteca, that quote in your post, pretty much backs up what I was trying to explain earlier to Mad Dog, about the Gibbs/Bugel coaching abilities as far as the offensive line goes. They take averge players and make then probowlers and take great players and make then HOF'ers.

It got 3 stars in the Sacramento Bee. I am seeing it tonight when I get off work in an hour.

http://abcnews.go.com/wire/Politics/ap20040709_1577.html WASHINGTON July 9, 2004 — Military payroll records that could more fully document President Bush's whereabouts during his service in the Texas Air National Guard were inadvertently destroyed, according to the Pentagon. In a letter responding to a freedom of information request by The Associated Press, the Defense Department said that microfilm containing the pertinent National Guard payroll records was damaged and could not be salvaged. The damaged material included payroll records for the first quarter of 1969 and the third quarter of 1972. "President Bush's payroll records for those two quarters were among the records destroyed," wrote C.Y. Talbott, of the Pentagon's Freedom of Information and Security Review section. "Searches for back-up paper copies of the missing records were unsuccessful." Presidential spokeswoman Claire Buchan said Friday there was nothing new in the letter. "When we put out records in February, we indicated that third-quarter of 1972 records were lost" when the microfilm was destroyed, she said. Bush did not perform Guard duties during the third quarter of 1972 but "fulfilled his obligation to the National Guard in full," Buchan said. "The documents we released months ago make that clear." In February, the White House released some payroll and medical records from Bush's Vietnam-era service to counter Democrats' suggestions that he shirked his duty in the Texas Air National Guard. Bush was in the Texas Air National Guard from 1968 to 1973, much of the time as a pilot, but never went to Vietnam or flew in combat. Sen. John Kerry of Massachusetts, the Democratic presidential candidate, is a decorated Vietnam veteran, and some Democrats have questioned whether Bush showed up for temporary Guard duty in Alabama while working on a political campaign during a one-year period from May 1972 to May 1973. Bush had asked to be able to transfer temporarily from the Texas Guard to an Alabama base during that time so he could work on the Senate campaign of a family friend. Reports differ on how long he was actually in Alabama, but it's generally believed that he returned to his Texas unit after the November 1972 election. The White House says Bush went back to Alabama again after that. The Pentagon letter was sent in response to an April lawsuit filed by the AP under the federal Freedom of Information Act. That law requires government agencies to make public information not specifically exempted for disclosure. The letter said that in 1996 and 1997, the Pentagon "engaged with limited success in a project to salvage deteriorating microfilm." During the process, "the microfilm payroll records of numerous service members were damaged," the letter said. This process resulted in "the inadvertent destruction of microfilm containing certain National Guard payroll records," including Bush's, the letter said. Trying to calm the political unrest, the White House on Feb. 13 released Bush's Vietnam-era military records to counter suggestions he shirked his duty. But there was no new evidence given at that time to show that he was in Alabama during the period when Democrats questioned whether he performed his service obligation. The records showed that Bush, a pilot, was suspended from flying status beginning Aug. 1, 1972, because of his failure to have an annual medical examination. His last flight exam was on May 15, 1971. There were no new documents, during that February release, to shed any light on Bush's service in Alabama. Inadvertenly destroyed? Come on already....this is bullshit

I used to be pissed that Ozzfest didn't have enough metal, but then I got to thinking, who cares. I mean honestly, say Ozzfest loads the lineup with metal, I still have to pay an outrageous fee, when I could go to a metalfest with just as many metal bands and pay $25-$40 dollars for a general admission ticket. As far as "Iann's lineup" works for me.

The Redskins won the Superbowl in 87, with Timmy WHO? Smith at RB.

Michael Savage claims daily that D'Amato stole this idea from him.....lol. Cheney isn't the most likeable guy, but it all depends on how much emphasis the american people put into a VP. I mean there is also going to be the intial hoopla and joy over the announcement, but fast foward a month or two down the road, and few VP's actually make people care.

Care to break down the "Denver System" for me? Seems to me they have a system where the offensive line opens holes and running lanes for Portis, that isn't much different from most "systems" so it comes down to Coaches and players, which Washington has. Also, keep in mind Portis did this with Jake Plummer(lol) behind center.

Ok, but changing the entire offensive scheme to one that you know, actually WINS GAMES in the NFL, also has quite the effect.

except McNabb has this nasty habit of one-hopping routine passes to wide open recievers. McNabb is a playmaker, but he is not one of the more accurate passers, but he is forgiven because of his explosive rushing ability, but when you break down his passing alone, he is not elite. I am just waiting for McNabb to one-hop a ball to a wide open Terrell Owens and watch that relationship melt away on the sidelines.
