Watch the movie John Q. The very sad truth is, it's not that far from what really happens day to day. Well yeah, I have seen the movie. I have a tiny bit of experience in dealing with HMOs relating to treatment of family members and such.

No one said anyone should refuse. Of course they should just comply and show their ID, but the point is that this gives the cops more power to harass people, of their choice, just to stop them.
-
This is another one of those instances where the ruling will result in probably 1-2 good situations and about 100 abuses. You can see both sides of the issue, but in reality this will just turn into more power for the cops to harass people.

I'm not saying whether it's right or wrong for us to have that role. But I do know that if we didn't act in that role, people like you would be bitching about us, being the major superpower of the world, having a moral and ethical responsibility to function in that capacity. So really, we're damned if we do, damned if we don't. People are going to bitch one way or the other. I'm not sure that involving ourselves in African wars is a smart move, however. Many of those countries seem to be involved in conflicts that are even more insane than the Middle East, if that's possible. No. I oppose interfering in any local conflict unless it's a direct threat to my country, it's allies, or my way of life. Always have, always will. well that is an isolationist's way of thinking However, our government, especially this administration has not shared that view.

HMOs are wretched......that is all.

I assumed he was just blaming, well, his personality. I didn't see any religion there at all. Well, one blames creatures for your shortcomings, the other praises God for helping you overcome your shortcomings. I do see a slight difference. -=Mike not really, both suggest that the outcome is in someone else's hands. True. However, one blames one's WEAKNESSES on outside forces --- a very immature belief. The other praises a greater power for HELPING THEM overcome their shortcomings --- a very mature belief. -=Mike I see your point..... I just prefer that neither would be referenced, since usually it is to appeal to a certain group of sympathizers.

Is blaming an affair on demons, any more ludicrous then crediting god with getting you through alchoholism? I mean if you believe in god, then I would imagine you would believe in demons of some sort....Not giving any more credence to either theory, but just saying.....

I just hope the style and grit of the original won't be totally lost in the sequel. That was one of the big appeals to me about the original.

like that cheap shot was necessary AT ALL...........

This is the problem when people who have no idea about technology or it's uses and positive aspects take bribes.........errrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr rrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr rrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr rrrr.............get one-sided arguments from filthy rich greedy and power corporations about what the "need to do about it"

Well, if it is lower, than you lied to try and get your point across. Which would, of course, be the norm for the left. And nice to see another kidnapping and threatened beheading. Let me guess --- it's our fault still, right? -=Mike stop taking the quotes and ideas from a select few morons, and applying them to people on this board. Why must you insist on ALWAYS doing this to get your point across in a smart-assed type way. Just because I or someone else on this board is a quote "leftist" doesn't mean I have to defend something stupid Michael Moore or Janeane Garaffalo etc.......said. If someone on this board DIRECTLY SAID, "all of this our fault" then please forgive me of this rant and I will say you were right in your lashings out(for that specific poster), however if not, then please cease this childish method of debate, and deal with that people on THIS BOARD say.

So is the end just eluding to the fact that Sean Penn & Kevin Bacon are just gonna go with the flow and withold the coverup of Tim Robbins character's death? I mean, Sean Penn's wife in the flick had the COLDEST OF COLD looks on her face as she sees the crying wife, and just does this TURN AWAY like, oh well bitch, life goes on. Oh and anyone else wish they would have gone a little more in depth into what happened to Tim Robbin's character as a child. Comments.....

that episode was indeed, hilarious.

That would be bad for Baltimore... McAllister is the #1 or #2 corner in the league. Bailey Woodson Ty Law McCallister I'd say he is #4 possibly......

Why did they never feature a "cents" sign on the keyboard?

The fact is, a lot of these global corporations try to disguise themselves as american blue collar industries. Ford & Chevy for one. Now it pains me because it is a fucking mouse click away for people to get the proper information to realize just how much they are ripped off when they buy a car, however Ford & Chevy have been correctomundo so far in their assumption that your average Joe Blow isn't going to research his car/truck any further then.......Is there a hemi, does it come in race car red? Advertising works, and it is a bitch, but not much you can do really. I mean we are ingrained with it from childbirth. The argument that companies leave america because a job is worth less, is ludicrous. I would even give a company the benefit of the doubt if POSSIBLY their opening up shop in a third world country could benefit their overall economy, but that is flat out wrong. Paying a worker 13cents a day offers them no money to pour back into the community except maybe the barest amount of rice, where as a worker in american while not making a fortune, should come away with a little bit extra on the check to feed back into the community and help things grow somewhat.

This past Saturday I decided to check this documentary/social commentary out. It was quite good IMO. The Corporation I am sure you can guess what the film is about by the title. One of my favorite features was the coverage of the Fox News anchors that did the show "The Investigators" getting fired because they refused to go on the air and lie to people about certain hormones being pumped into cows, and it's effect on the consumer. They sued and won, but then lost on appeal because it was found that Florida does not have a law against reporting false news. LOL......Of course the piece is more detailed then what I have said, but that was the jist of that part of it. The movie really gives a good look at how corporations came into so much power, and why you see such hostility against the power that these huge corporations demand these days. I really don't want to say too much about besides I really enjoyed it, and that it isn't a comedic-mikey moore styled documentary, but more hard-edged. Go see it, if it is playing in your town.

The worth of a job has no baring on what the company pays. The CEO's quite frankly don't give a damn what the guys in the factories make, as long as their pockets are full. Do you honestly think Mr. Shareholder cares if Johnny Assembly line is struggling with his rent for this family? Come on now. Shareholders and CEOs don't give two shits about assesing any value into anything besides what can put more money in their own pockets. Just witness what is going on in third world countries with labor violations abroad, and you certainly will see how much concern these corporate con artitsts feel "minium wage jobs" are worth.

I seem to remember a lot of folks on this board claiming that there wouldn't be any guerilla warfare after the initial bombings.....so I guess they can go ahead and admit they were flat our wrong. Personally, I WISH there was some way to evacuate the innocent civilians, both arab, british, and america(and whoever else) so we could just reign down a lethal blitzkrieg of fury all over the wretched enemy, but since that is not possible, I would really like this administration to explain the steps it is taking to make progress. It seems for the last six months or so, nothing has changed, for the better OR worse...it just is what it is. I honestly, have no fucking clue what this administrations plan is. If I have to hear Bush say, "........we will bring the perpatrotors to justice" one more time I am gonna puke. Justice? Is that a nice way of saying, I am gonna stick the barrel of my gun down their throats and pull the trigger a few times? Because that seems like pretty good justice for the animals that did the beheadings. However the issue is really bigger then the beheadings. This whole "War on terrorism" is a fucking huge mess. I don't care if you are for the war, against the war, who the hell you are voting for, blah fucking blah. Iraq is a goddamn mess right not, like it or not. Does anyone honestly think Bush or Kerry is going to guide us through this......come on now.. The problem is that we got involved in a war where you aren't fighting an army, you are just fighting the next dude that points his gun at you, and that could be ANYONE at ANYTIME. I love how Saudi Arabia 'killed the leader" about an hour after the beheading. I mean what was that, a "oh shit the americans are gonna be pissed, hey Habib, go down and take one of the mob guys out" If that isn't fucking suspicious I dunno what it is. I am kind of all over the place in this rant, but I think this administration has finally gotten itself into something that there is no clear cut answer to. Neither side really has the right idea, and I am pretty much in the dark as well, and rightfully so. Whether you like the president or not, you HAVE to look at the situation in Iraq being the mess it is, and hold the administration responsible, with that said, if thing miraculously get better in time for the election, WE ALL have to take that into account to, and give this administration the same credit for it.

Marge vs. The Monorail was definately a high point in the series, probably the best Musical scene ever in the series. I also really like the Burlesque Parlor shindig, but I totally forgot what season that was..... After work today, I am stopping at Frys on the way home to pick up Simpsons season 4 & Curb your enthusiasm....... wait a sec......."after work TODAY" shit it is 2:30am and I need to be at work at 8:30am.......why am I online? Why did I just drink another beer? Ah fuck it, it's FRIDAY~!

Well it is probably safe to say that Michael Moore operates in much of the same fashion as guys like Sean Hannity & Rush Limbaugh do, by editing, and presenting one bias side to an argument. The difference is, Moore makes movies and Hannity/Rush use radio/tv as their means to spread their message. So I am not sure what everyone is up and arms about really, I mean it is not like Michael Moore invented this practice of showing a biased view, and I don't know ANYONE, that is swearing allegience to Michael Moore and the ground he walks on. Moreso, I just know people that are interested in seeing the movie and that IS IT. But, it is kind of silly to bash Michael Moore as a "revisionist" or knock him for editing and being biased when I am sure a lot of you listen to Rush do the same thing every damn day on his radio show. So in otherwords I guess what my drunk-self is trying to say is. As long as everyone lumps all these guys in as entertainers and not Factual Historians/Newsmen, then we can find a common ground, but the second you try to say "MY GUY IS RIGHT, YOURS IS An AMERICA HATING COMMIE"(or vice versa ala NAZI SCUM) then it shows how clueless and bias you as the listener/viewer really are. EDIT: whoa I just realized this was the movie forum and not the CE forum......my bad. I probably shouldn't have ranted like that, but I am it there cause I had to type that out drunk. If it gets the folder moved to CE then so be it I suppose....

Why is Macha still the A's manager? Fire him please.

the idea behind the movie is genuine and right on, however I think instead, someone should do a similar type movie-documentary on common grocery store big corporate food products that have been on the shelves for over 75 years, but now contain more fattening and addictive ingredients because they are cheaper to produce. I mean seriously, every fool knows the truth behind McDonalds food, but it is far less known by the masses that the same food products that have been on grocery store shelves for decades, now have higher fat contents in them, then before.

So I guess this is the part where someone left-leaning chimes in with...... I hope Ascroft is reading this, because you are a DIGITAL PIRATE and need to be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. You are stealing money from the film industry, because of you, people are going hungry you no good broke, lazy bastard......umm GET A JOB......
