  1. Anyone else amused how Bush basically changed the purpose behind the surge to "cut down the violence in Iraq" and then looked even more stupid when he said "a year ago people though it would be impossible to cut down the violence" Reaaaaaaaaaally? I believe people said that Iraq's political process needed to step up and whether it did or not would be the true measure of whether the surge is/was working. Nobodies argument for or against the surge had soley to do with cutting the violence down. But again, typical of this administration, when things aren't turning out in your favor.....move the goalpost.
  2. I'd assume we are borrowing a lot more from China to fund the Occupation of Iraq, unless you deem that a worthy cause!?! EDIT: So for those that are watching it....should we just keep discussion of the SOTU in this thread, or give it's own thread....since there will be a Democratic response, it is almost like a debate, so I think it is ok to keep the discussion in here........anyone?
  3. I don't understand why Hillary and Obama are not more forward in their criticism of the war, and/or why they don't try to disspell more of the myths of the war. If I were them I would call the Republicans on constantly referring to Iraq as "fighting Al Qaeda" or maybe say something about our troops lives not being worth it to act as police in the middle of a religious war. It is things like that the make me afraid that if they are elected, there is just going to be more of the same when it comes to the occupation. I would be more excited for Obama over Hillary.
  4. Sandusky's rant may have come off sounding a bit over-zealous, but I do agree with most of his points. I mean, after the last four years of garbage we have had the Democratic candidates(well the ones with a chance to win) still seem timid to talk about getting our of Iraq, getting rid of the Patriot Act, illegal wire-tapping etc etc etc.....issues that are really no brainers for anyone that is to be considered a "liberal" Which is why it still needs to be explained to people that there is a difference between a "liberal" and a "democrat" That pretty much sums it up. Would I rather have Obama or Hillary as President over McCain/Romney/Guliani/Huckabee etc.....YES. Am I excited and/or motivated at the thought of one of them as our President? No.
  5. So, the router setup is still a complete failure, yet I managed to get the internet working with the network cable hooked up through the router....how did I do this you ask? Well instead of hooking the cable to the port marked "internet" like the instructions say.....I hooked it into one of the ports that is used for "other devices" and now the internet flows free like a river through my computer.....GO FIGURE!?! (I wonder if the internet port was just fried or something!?!) So if I am lucky, now that the internet is working, it means the PS3 and Wii connections will work because I am hoping that all that was preventing them from working in the first place was a lack of an internet connection.......so I guess there is a chance I can get the router to work independently and despite of the fact that the actual router software doesn't want to cooperate....*crossing fingers* The funniest part of all this is that I am surfing the web at the exact same time the router setup is telling me "no internet connection detected" haha.
  6. Ok, I have a Linksys WRT54G. I got it at Christmas and was running the internet, a wired PS3 connection and a wireless Wii connection through it up until about two hours ago. I tried connecting online on Madden via PS3 and suddenly it froze. So I figured it was my PS3. Try again and now it won't connect to the internet. Checked the wii's wireless connection, nope, it won't connect. So I check the internet, it's down. So usually in this case, unplugging the router and plugging it back in has the connection up and running again in a matter of seconds. I try it....nothing. Again, nothing. So I shut down my computer, restart it....still nothing. Ok, so this time I unplug my router, plug it back in....nothing. The weird part is, all the indicator lights on the router and modem are on. Also, it is not ISP because I plugged the network cable directly into my computer and the internet worked fine. So the last thing I did was reset the router, and tried reseting the network from scratch. It refuses to acknowledge that I have an internet connection. Every time I try to configure a network it gives me one of two messages: Either a) no internet connection(and then my computer says there is such little connectivity for the network that the internet cannot be accessed) or b)this installation software is meant to be used for Linksys products only, if your router is not a linksys please use the software provided with the router. And yes, everything is plugged in, powered, and plugged in to the right ports. The strangest thing is that it seems like the computer, router, and modem are all reading each other and acknowleding they exist, because if I unplug something from the router, the modem knows something is unplugged, same with the computer, however I can't for the life of me get any internet connectivity through my router.......like I said...everything was FINE until two hours ago..... Is my router fried or did I miss something somewhere? EDIT: Is this http://www.monoprice.com/products/product....=1&format=2 any type of sufficient alternative to a router? I can use it to plug my PS3 and Internet in at the same time, but will connectivity suffer by using this device instead of a router?
  7. Try and direct some towards a cemetary and see if it re-animates the dead.
  8. I understand that diets don't work because they are a short-term fix, but I already stated about three times that I am also joining a gym starting March 1st, and I am not using the gym for short term results. When I work carbs back into my diet, I am still going to be going to the gym, which is a complete life-style change to my current "get home from work and sit around and do nothing but watch movies/tv, play video games, surf the net, eat, shit, sleep" routine. So regardless of my diet, the gym is something that will be a constant forever, or at least as long as I can afford it which currently there is no reason to worry about. And my sister also has a degree in nutrition science and is a registered nutritionist, so I know about the cons of a diet like a low-carb diet, but like I said already, it is not going to be a life-changing thing. It is a way to drop a 10-15 pounds before I start going to the gym.
  9. I don't think Lesnar becoming a good MMA fighter is impossible he has some legit credentials. It is more the way Dana White promotes Lesnar as if it is foregone conclusion that he is the next big thing in MMA, that kind of irritates me. On a more frustrating note: I just realized I am attending something on Feb 2nd in which they tickets have already been purchased for and are non-refundable for. So I will be unable to host the show at my house.....sorry to those who usually come out. I will definately be hosting the March PPV though....
  10. Oh wow, seriously? That sounds kind of amazing. Which interviews were these? EDIT: Nevermind, found them. I haven't found them......link(s) please???
  11. From what I have heard from Beck, he is another one of your typical right-wingers who wants to come off as your "average everyday guy" but some of the things he lets slip out of mouth don't fit that kind of profile unless racist, bigot, homophobe are part of the definition.
  12. I don't think it is so much that diets themselves don't work, I think either one, people don't supplement them with excersizing, two, people lose the desired amount of weight and then stop the diet altogether and go back to their bad eating habits, or lastly, don't even stick to the diet and/or "cheat" Plenty of people I know have dieted and had a lot of success, the problem is once they get to the desired weight they figured they were "done" and just went back to the old way of eating, so it isn't the diet itself that didn't work, rather the mindset that a diet is something that expires one day. I am going to be supplementing this with excersize. Going to the gym 3-4 times a week is 3-4 more times then I do now, and like I said, that is going to continue beyond any diet I am doing. It's not like I am just saying "I won't eat bread, but other then that I am throwing caution to the wind"
  13. Well going to the gym 3-4 days a week is going to be a lifestyle change in itself, as I do plan of keeping my gym membership regardless of what diet I am on or not on. I mean, I will probably always keep some sort of altered diet once I lose the desired amount of weight, but I am not saying that I will never eat ice cream again, or never eat garlic bread again. I do plan on working carbs back into my diet in moderation once I start the gym because I know you do need energy to work out. I think they do sell vitamin pills that give you energy.
  14. Any of the PS3 owners have Resistence? It got really good reviews, but I missed it because I didn't have a PS3 until last November. The preview for Resistence 2 looks ridiculously awesome, and I kind of want to play through the first one to get a good idea of the storyline/characters......any idea how much it is selling for used? Is it compatible with the usb headphones?
  15. Whatever happened to parents just explaining that movies/music/art/videogames/entertainment can be used as escapism, but it is not something to go out and emulate. That talk seemed to work for me, as I was never really not allowed to watch/list to anything when I was a kid. I mean that explanation of course is an over-simplification of things, but that is how you might tell a youngster, and if they have a brain, they can naturally put the pieces together as they grow older. I mean, I grew up watching the most brainless action movies, some violent & gory as fuck horror movies, listened to all the music that was deemed "the devil" and I turned out fine just like the other 99.99999999% of folks that do/did.......
  16. So did anyone else watch it last night? I think the show is getting better, and I really like how they are starting to incorporate Skynet in it's infancy into the show.
  17. Am I the only one that thinks the Eliminator looks easier then the old version?
  18. Fred Thompson is out.
  19. Well I have noticed that a lot of these MMA clothing companies are based out of Southern California, so maybe a lot of their clients are the young, rich, yuppie, gym rats that have the money to spend and just love to look like badasses wearing MMA gear. If that is the case then fine, but they aren't going to be able to expand much outside of that customer base.
  20. Warrior wear has some decently-priced shirts(Of course the coolest ones with the trees is the most expensive), and most of their beanies are reversable so it is nice getting two designs for the price of one. Affliction is just ridiculous, $50 for a fucking t-shirt. I mean COME THE FUCK ON. Same with Extreme Couture
  21. Yeah, once I start the gym I am definately eating pasta and garlic bread again. My diet will be more about portion control in order for me to not have to be at the gym three hours a day to work it all off.
  22. Someone told me it was a good movie until it turned into
  23. Well like I said, this isn't going to be a permanent change for me, it isn't a new "life-style" of eating. I just want to do some type of diet that way once I start the gym routine in another month or so, I will have already been attempting to start some sort of eating routine. Also, whether or not it is healthy to do or not, it definately does work, I have seen it with my own eyes from people I work with. It works, but shouldn't be relied on for life. My sister is a registered nutritionist and she is not in favor of this diet because she says carbs is how we get energy. Basically our body needs carbs, but she doesn't deny that cutting out carbs will make you lose weight. I started it today, and one thing is for sure, it is going to take some time getting used to drinking Iced Tea without any sugar....
  24. I got the day off today. Of course, I work for a non-profit, so maybe they get more days off then normal.
  25. Bars are Great. The drinks may be overpriced, but if you stay there long enough the entertainment that usually ensues almost makes the prices worth it.
