As a Bears fan...I make this plea to the front office. PAY LANCE BRIGGS WHAT HE IS WORTH! Having a solid outside linebacker presence takes a lot off the shoulders of Uhrlacher. But yet...I look to the Roosevelt Colvin and Warrick Holman situations and realize that's probably not going to happen. The division is still down...so the Bears I think have an excellent chance to repeat as division champs and a good shot at winning the conference again.

OK...I know people have to have something to say about this. What if Al Gore won the 2000 election instead of the Dubya? How would the world be different...how would the US be different and how would Gore have responded to 9/11 and the Iraq situation?

I love soccer...I played it in high school and in college. However...soccer in the US is going to be a hard sell for most of the fans. The biggest thing going against it (in addition to it not having its roots here) is the fact the scores are so low. In baseball, football, and basketball these days its all about wanting points on the board. Hell, people now call a 2-1 baseball game or a 10-7 defensive battle in football boring. But soccer can have a fairly decent following if it doesn't get too blown away by the celebrity hype. It needs to remain a sport for the common man. They need to keep prices for tickets affordable, which can be an advantage with the way prices for other events these days are getting higher and higher.

I mentioned this in the ribs post...but it's the same here. When it comes to wings, it's not about style points. I'm going to inevitably get hot sauce in my fingernails and go through half a roll of paper towels or a shitload of napkins, depending on where I'm eating. So I don't need the utensils.

Big League Chew was the shit. We used to think we were hot stuff when we played Little League with a big huge wad of it in our mouth. That and the candy cigarettes that you could by at the concession stands after the game. Another fave of mine...New York Deli potato chips, I remember them by the purple bag. Also along those lines...New York Seltzer waters. My personal vice was the root beer flavored one.

Another angle to look at...would Randy Moss have remained a Viking had he gotten to the Super Bowl and won it in '98?

Interesting storylines from MLB that someone brought up earlier if the LCS were still at 5 games. Here's the Fall Classics that we would have seen that were different... 1985- Toronto-St. Louis 1986- California-Mets...no worrying about the ball going through Buckner's legs. 1987- Minnesota-San Francisco...would the Twins still have beat the Giants? 1991- Minnesota-Pittsburgh...would this Fall Classic been as epic as the one we had IRL? And if the Pirates had somehow won would that have kept Bonds in a Pittsburgh uniform a little bit longer or perhaps for good? 1996- Yankees-Cardinals 2003-Yankees-Cubs...I have a feeling this would have been a WS for the ages. No worrying about Bartman 2004- Houston-Yankees...This and '86 would have shown the Curse of the Bambino would have lived in Boston, plus if the Cubs somehow won the '03 World Series then the Red Sox would remain the loveable losers Also I wonder how baseball would be different if in '95 the owners had been able to start the season with replacement players. I feel eventually they would have crushed the union when players started crossing the picket line.

For the steroid issue...I think it would still have come to the forefront eventually but it was definitely ignored by the owners after '94. Especially if you look at what really brought baseball back to the public eye was the McGwire-Sosa HR chase in '98. I know for myself I stopped watching baseball for three years and the HR chase brought me back. Here's a boxing one that I find interesting...what if Cus D'Amato hadn't died when he did in 1985? I think Mike Tyson would have turned out a lot differently. I could see Tyson obviously still winning the world heavyweight championship, but he would have destroyed Buster Douglas instead of getting knocked out as Tyson would have been ready to fight instead of taking him very lightly. Also, I see Tyson dismantling Holyfield, George Foreman, and Riddick Bowe. Instead of an anticlimactic battle with Lennox Lewis, I could picture Tyson-Lewis being the Ali-Frazier of this generation. And when it's all said and done, we're mentioning Mike Tyson in the same breath as all-time great HW's along with Ali, Louis, Dempsey, Marciano, etc. If Don Denkinger actually makes the right call in Game 6 of the '85 World Series, the Cardinals go on to wrap up the game and the championship...I also picture them really giving the Mets a run for their money for the next few years. Granted, I know the Cardinals did win the NLCS in '87 and came close in '89 before succumbing to the Cubs, but the Cardinals could have become the power of that time. And that would also happen if Vince Coleman hadn't been injured in the '85 NLCS by a runaway tarp.

http://www.reuters.com/article/domesticNew...928449420070709 WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Cindy Sheehan, who became a leading anti-war activist after her son died in Iraq, said on Monday she will run against House of Representatives Speaker Nancy Pelosi if the Democratic leader fails to seek the ouster of President George W. Bush within the next two weeks. The 49-year-old, whose soldier son Casey died in combat in Iraq in 2004, told Reuters she would run for Pelosi's house seat in 2008 if the California Democrat fails to endorse impeachment proceedings against Bush and Vice President Dick Cheney by July 23. That is the date when Sheehan and a group of supporters are due to arrive in Washington as part of a cross-country caravan and walking trip for humanity, set to begin from Bush's hometown of Crawford, Texas, on Tuesday. "If Nancy Pelosi doesn't support articles of impeachment ... by the time we get there, then I will announce my candidacy against her," she said in a telephone interview from Crawford. Sheehan said Bush and Cheney should be impeached for lying to the American people about Iraq and anti-terrorism policies that she believes violate U.S. law and international treaties banning torture. "In November '06, Americans went to the polls to vote for change and what we've gotten in the last six months since the Democrats have been in control of Congress is more politics as usual," she said. Pelosi spokesman Brendan Daly said in a statement that the Democratic leader is focused on ending the war. "She believes that the best way to support our troops in Iraq is to bring them home safely and soon," the statement said. Sheehan, who has never held public office, is also encouraging others to challenge Democratic incumbents. Sheehan gained prominence as an anti-war activist in 2005 when, as the mother of a dead soldier, she said she wanted to meet with Bush as he vacationed at his ranch in Crawford. She announced in May that she would end her public role in the anti-war movement, saying she had reached the conclusion that her son "did indeed die for nothing" and was "killed by his own country which is beholden to and run by a war machine that even controls what we think." A California resident, Sheehan said she would run as an independent in Pelosi's northern California congressional district, which is centered in San Francisco. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- So much for ending her public role...she seems to really be clamoring for attention. Granted, I understand people might be anti-war...but this is what happens when you are so obsessed about being anti-Bush that you give someone like this some run. The idea that Sheehan could become Speaker of the House...no matter how unlikely...is very disturbing.

Movie moments that gave/give you chills *Spoilers throughout*
BruiserKC replied to Angle-plex's topic in Television & Film
The scene in "Remember the Titans" when the team comes to the cemetery at Gettysburg and Denzel's speech there. "Snoopy Come Home" at the farewell party before Snoopy leaves Charlie Brown to live with his previous owner (I was 6 at the time). The scene in "Full Metal Jacket" where Private Pyle is in the latrine, blows Sgt. Hartman away, then turns the gun on himself. -
Getting back to the original thread here... Jeff/Matt Hardy, as themselves and before that as the New Freebirds.

I love ribs...and usually you have great ones if the meat slides right off the bone. But to me...it's like eating hot wings or crab legs. I'm not worried about style points or making a mess. Set those sumbitches in front of me, give me some extra BBQ sauce on the side, a pile of napkins, and stand back. I like baby back ribs, but it gets hard to find really good beef ribs.

What are those things coming out of her nose?

Patrick is an icon of ESPN...only Berman is more synonymous with the four-letter network than Patrick is. I'll miss listening to him. Cowherd is listenable during football season...otherwise he blows. Would they consider perhaps instead of one regular host...maybe doing various hosts? One day you have Stephen A. Smith, maybe the next Bob Ryan, the next John Saunders, etc. Maybe also get other reporters and shit to get in on this also.

Notice this is what killed WCW back after Russo took over the booking. The WCW diehards knew they weren't getting the product they were used to...the WWE fans they were trying to win over weren't fooled as they knew that WCW was doing the same Crash TV shit that Russo did for McMahon. I watch TNA as I want it to be a different product from what WWE offers us. It's the same thing for the most part.

Den-ver, The Last Di-no-saur! Rarely watched that one, but I still remember some of the theme song. The kid-themed game shows were always fun. The ones Darthtiki mentioned along with GUTS, Legends of the Hidden Temple and Nick Arcade (featuring games from the cutting-edge Neo Geo system). I remember Nick Arcade...and a few years before then I was a fan of the show on TBS called Starrcade which originated video game playing on TV.

Chris Benoit Dead - Toxicology results released
BruiserKC replied to Human Fly's topic in The WWE Folder
As far as the OJ-Benoit comparisons, I know I mentioned it way back somewhere. After the murder trial and so on, Simpson's accomplishments don't get as much mention, if at all. Pro football experts go out of their way to not mention him in the same breath as Jim Brown, Walter Payton, etc...as far as all-time great running backs. Pete Rose is the same way...yes we can't ignore the fact he's the all-time hits leader but the experts don't mention him. In fact, IIRC, when Rose was named to the All-Century team back in '99 Selig was looking for a way to keep him off the field when the team was going to be presented. In the process of not looking like you're profiting off someone, they will stop being mentioned. We're going to see the same thing with Benoit...Vince will try to not look like he's trying to profit off his being gone, but in the process it's going to be an issue of "Out of sight, out of mind." Is that fair...probably not as far as Benoit should be mentioned with the all-time greats. Alas, we're not going to be able to separate his accomplishments from his final acts upon this earth. -
Chris Benoit Dead - Toxicology results released
BruiserKC replied to Human Fly's topic in The WWE Folder
I still don't know what to think. Benoit was the last guy we would expect this from...and it's a shame he destroyed his legacy now. It's like OJ all over again...OJ was one of the greatest running backs of all-time, but hardly gets mentioned for it now because of two murders that we all know he did even though he denies it. Benoit's legacy is now forever tarnished. And it's all his fault. As for me...I'll still watch wrestling no matter what, it's been in my blood since I was 5. -
Chris Benoit Dead - Toxicology results released
BruiserKC replied to Human Fly's topic in The WWE Folder
I don't know what to say. I had the chance a few years ago to meet Benoit after a show in Ames, Iowa. The man was everything wrestling should be. What's most important is that he did it his way...he wasn't the biggest, the most muscular, or had the best promos. He just went into the ring and busted his ass...period. I think the last time I felt like this for the passing of a wrestler was when Bruiser Brody was murdered. RIP Chris Benoit...you will truly be missed. -
Mr. McMahon "dead" - Now for the "whodunit" angle.
BruiserKC replied to Downhome's topic in The WWE Folder
I'm still torn about this whole angle, seriously. I think this angle would have been the perfect way to get rid of the Mr. McMahon character...Evil Vince all over our TVs has been played out for a few years now. If nothing else...they could have found nothing at the limo, but yet nothing to convince us Vince is definitely dead. So they could play this out...some thinking he's gone, others hoping he'll return. Perhaps a bit where Coach and Stephanie are leaving the boss' room in the arena exactly as he would want it in the hope that one day he comes back. And then they could stretch it out for a few months...instead it's looking like it will be hot-shotted PDQ. -
I remember when PETA told us that drinking beer instead of milk was much healthier. So I decided to compromise and have a cold one with my steak.

If they have Cena playing detective, perhaps he'll bring back BA Bumpy Knuckles to help him out? One thing we do know...it wasn't Snitsky's fault. -
If this thing ends up playing during the NFL season even if it's on Fridays, it's going to get annihilated. Come to think of it...it will anyway most likely.

This is what Kobe wanted...to be the toast of the town, get his 50 every night, and all the props, wasn't it? He did this himself, no matter how much he tries to throw Buss under the bus. I'm enjoying that we can finally see how overrated of a coach Phil Jackson is...proves he can't win unless all the pieces together and that when he has to actually coach he shits his own pants.

Isiah Washing officially let go from Greys Anatomy
BruiserKC replied to Youth N Asia's topic in Television & Film
They kept him on for ratings...that's the only reason they kept him this long. Otherwise, they'd have canned his ass within 30 minutes or 3 GLAAD demonstrations (whichever came first).
