  1. Will the Xbox360 be backwards compatible with the current Xbox releases, or not? I want to take advantage of the sale, but I don't have an Xbox, and I'm thinking of trading in my PS2 when the 360 launches.
  2. It's no Bull. The only reason I'm taking this sleeper is because he's in a contract year...and he's filling a position and stat category I'm weak at. ..and even then, it's a reach. EDIT: Dickau was the other guy I was considering at that pick.
  3. I've got one last sleeper, but I might be reaching here. Let's see if 909 picks him.
  4. TNA attempted to headline with Jarrett v. Nash last night, and will give away a money match on free television in two weeks. With neither of the promotions able to generate ad revenue, will that stop them from giving away money matches? No.
  5. Damn, until now I didn't realize who was in Porter's avatar. The episode comes on in about thirty minutes; until then, I'm enjoying repeated viewings of the show.
  6. Many people have soured on the rating over the years. I haven't heard this match mentioned as a "**** - ****1/2" match in over three years, even from people who critically overrate matches. The original ratings for this match were based on a sense of closure to the Austin/Helmsley program. The storyline and build-up were very unique - the idea had to be borrowed from a program LONG ago, though to its credit was one that fostered its own creative touches (the contract signing). It really looked as if these guys wouldn't bother with each other after the program ended - after all, what could either party do to the other to genuinely piss them off anymore? The match seemed like the final touch, and was rated accordingly.
  7. No, it's not just you.
  8. Stop. Please.
  9. Did UTSHU just own...himself? A internet first, ladies and gentlemen.

    New BCS Standings

Read baseball threads much? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Actually no. Anyway does it really matter if USC and Texas are 1 or 2? If both win out then they'll play each other in the title game. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> What if Tech beats #13 BC this week? And #6 Miami the week after? We've got five weeks until USC faces UCLA, a game that could decide who plays in the National Championship. If USC can hold off Tech until that meeting, they've playing for the berth. But the point is, where does Tech end up after next week's game? If Tech gets on the inside track, does USC leap-frogging them after a UCLA win seem fair?
  11. Man, and I thought the ratings from the "five-star" thread in the WWE forum were ridiculous.

  13. I don't know how I would've closed out the show, but it sure wasn't the way that it actually went down. I don't have a problem with Rhyno; in fact, I actually enjoy the guy. It's just that he only has so much marketability in him. The potential for Rhyno has already been tapped, so you can see his ceiling. Can he talk? No. Can the fans get behind him? No. If he's built as a heel champion, will the crowd boo him? No. Does he have the charisma to get over as a face? No. Will people pay to see him defend the title? No. He's just going to be the 'lukewarm response' champion. The belt should go back to Jarrett as soon as possible, although I don't know how Jarrett gets his 'credibility' back without pinning Rhyno crisp and clean. I'm just disappointed in the options that TNA didn't go with. Jarrett would've benefitted from a match with anyone from Raven, to Monty, to AJ, to Truth, to Abyss, maybe even Joe, but they went with someone that didn't belong in the picture at all.
  14. They have a playmaker, and his name is Dunta Robinson. Honestly, they could use some help at key positions (linebacker, defensive tackle, a faster end), but that's the least of their problems when it comes to the offense. If they can improve their ball control at all, the defense has enough time to be on the sidelines for more than a minute. ---------------------------------------- A look back at last Sunday's team stats... Seahawks: time of possession: 31:33 first downs: 31 (19 rush, 8 pass, 4 penalty) redzone effiency: 6-6 (100%) punts: 1 - 41 net yards passing: 139 net yards rushing: 320 Texans: time of possession: 28:27 first downs: 14 (3 rush, 10 pass, 1 penalty) redzone effiency: 0-0 (0%) punts: 6- 37.5 yds net yards passing: 160 net yards rushing: 67 Goddamn.
  15. Cleveland Green Bay Indianapolis St. Louis Cincinnati San Diego San Francisco Seattle Baltimore Oakland N.Y. Giants Tennessee Atlanta TIE: 17
  16. Same here...and that goes with the NFL thread too.
  17. Quick thoughts... Culpepper - though playing against Green Bay, in Minnesota, he's probably going to make the mistakes himself. Manning - porous Denver secondary. Even with Dillon out for the Pats last week, Denver struggled against Brady going to the air. If Tiki keeps them honest, Manning should have a great game. Roethlisberger - not in the shape he's in, and not against Cincinnati. Go with Eli, though Culpepper has the favorable matchup.
  18. Either are really good starts. I guess I'd go with Brunell, since they'll probably run a one-dimensional offense against a good Niners run defense.
  19. I wouldn't trust Jones to play as heavy as he has in previous weeks. With the shoulder injury, they're only risking further damage by starting him against Cleveland. Go with Johnson, for a lack of better options.
  20. According to Meltzer, who reported it... ...and the Torch... See a difference? Me neither.
  21. FRIDAY UAB SATURDAY Michigan State Virginia N.C. State Michigan Missouri (don't know why) Texas A&M Mississippi Connecticut Texas Alabama Auburn ...and fuck Spurrier, I'm picking Vandy.
  22. Of course I'd be deferring to their judgment for their knowledge and expertise. Has your professor mentioned his wardrobe (or lack thereof) to the class, in a light-hearted manner? Has he cleared it with the department chair, or have they come down on him for it? If you're going to brace yourself for Dr. Jack Ramone coming in a regular t-shirt and basketball shorts, I guess it would be easy. But if I'm walking into a classroom on my first day and see this guy, I'm going to be wondering aloud "...and THAT's my professor?"
  23. Does a person's mathematical ability improve because they are wearing dress clothes? If anything, the students feel more comfortable having us dress and act in a casual manner. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> No, but I'd take a professor wearing a hat and a t-shirt (or even a throwback, like you mentioned) less seriously, but I guess that's just me. Again, dress codes should be enforced, but in a professional setting. Teaching in front of 500 students is a professional setting. So is performing in front of 25,000 fans who paid to see you. Getting off of a one hour bus ride, after a five-hour flight, shouldn't leave room for us to criticize what they're wearing.
  24. The Braves seemed too willing to "rid" themselves of Mazzone, which brings me to two conclusions: either there is a potential pitching coach in the system that can hold up the end of the bargain, or Mazzone wasn't as integral as we all thought he was (wrong). Good luck Leo, and good luck facing the Yankees twenty-some times a year instead of the usual four.
  25. No. Even in college, it's the same way. They wear warm-ups (locker room, practice, walking around) when asked, wear suits or dress shirts (press conferences, injured players) when asked, but no one is told what to wear. The one game you're told to dress up for is the school homecoming. So, what's the argument? That's just a fact. We're arguing about the validity of the dress code, aren't we? Stephen Jackson called it racist. My goodness, Stephen Jackson would call childbirth racist. When they're asked to perform, or when their performance can be easily scrutinized, a dress code should be enforced.
