    MLB Game Chatter

    The Camden furries strike AGAIN!
  2. Thankfully, it won't come down to the tiebreakers*. I had no faith in my FSU/Miami tiebreaker score. *knocks on wood for good measure.
  3. PPV: Austin/Foley, Over The Edge 1998 Rock/Austin - Wrestlemania X-7 TLC II - Wrestlemania X-7 McMahon v. McMahon - Wrestlemania X-7 TV: HHH/X-Pac/Benoit/Malenko/Saturn v. Rock/Foley/Rikishi/Christopher/Taylor - 02.07.2000 RAW Austin v. Angle - 01.08.01 RAW Angle v. Booker - 07.26.2001 Smackdown
  4. Rafael Furcal was arrested earlier this morning on suspicions of DUI. ...and in other news, the MLB are deciding on whether to fine Steinbrenner for his comments on the the failed forfeit request earlier this week.
  5. The heart attack incident was indeed in reference to the Starrcade PPV, where Nash refused to job to Big Show. Even so, the feud continued without a hitch (the "powerbomb" angle at Souled out), but the fans did feel like they were screwed out of seeing Nash get his come-uppance. Starrcade was built on the notion that WCW would FINALLY get their revenge on the nWo, but after Nash's refusal to job and Hogan's bribery of Nick Patrick behind closed doors, the night ended on a big thud with the fans. IIRC, Bischoff was the only nWo character that jobbed cleanly that night.
  6. He didn't rip Island Records. Josey went after the band's former managers and agents, who they cut ties with after their third album. This was in reference to being jipped out of money for doing the collaboration with Kroeger for "Hero". For the single, Josey was only paid $5,000, while the band's agent, Kroeger and the record company who produced the Spiderman soundtrack (NOT Island) made a killing off of it.
  7. Friday, September 10th Miami Boise State Saturday, September 11th Wisconsin Northwestern Nebraska UCLA Kansas State Michigan Ohio State Washington State Virginia Texas A&M Georgia Oklahoma USC Clemson Penn State Mississippi Texas Tiebreaker #1: How many total points will be scored in the Florida State/Miami game? 55
  8. CHICAGO, ILLINOIS (AP) - In breaking news, the Chicago Cubs players have ordered regional broadcaster WGN to withhold footage from the remaining Chicago homegames (which includes any subsequent highlights and any available audio) from ESPN and its sister networks. To fill the void, ESPN will air thirty-second clips of the 1993 motion picture "Rookie Of The Year" in the highlights' slot.
  9. Aww...that catchphrase on the back is simply disgusting.
  10. I don't remember the GM or owner releasing any statements to the media. From what I can put together, the MLB office gave the Yankees this information that the Rays would make the game on Friday. When they didn't, the Yankees sought the forfeit for the two games. The MLB hadn't gotten in touch with the Devil Rays after that fact.
  11. Holy shit. I completely neglected the "spread" portion of this contest, which is the ENTIRE basis of declaring a winner each week. EDIT: Oh well. The spreads this week are so miniscule, the only new result I did after re-calculating my picks, was Arizona beating the spread against the Rams.
  12. You do know that despite these jobs, it really doesn't matter in the long run, right? Like a Hogan, Taker, Austin or Rock, the man has bullet-proof heat. You use THESE guys to get everyone else over, because a job wouldn't matter in the slightest to their credbility or fan support.
  13. EDIT: Nevermind.
  14. Stuart Scott: Charley thinks you're a Top 50 boxer... Holyfield: In the world? Scott: ...in Georgia. Holyfield: (clenches teeth) Airing that commercial in its entirety completely made tonight's show for me.
  15. We forgot, the Yanks are the bastion of truth and honesty amidst the maelstrom of BS that is MLB. -=Mike Hey, the Yankees are just sitting back and watching this mess. They're the good guys in this whole debacle. There are GOOD GUYS in this type of situation? Wait, did I miss Aubrey Huff hitting Derek Jeter in the back of the knee with a metal pipe after batting practice?
  16. It's easier to get lodging back home than find accomodations on the road. There was certainly something available to them. MLB insisted that it was willing to pay hotel fair. And it's nice that your extremely bias source couldn't even completely deny a formal request. Considering that the Commissioner himself insisted that the game be played, I doubt there was any type of formal request from the MLB office.

    NFL's top 100 players

Pfft. Deuce is the quiet RB that no one seems to talk about but manages to work his ass off in every game he's in and puts up good numbers. I agree, the dude got shafted here (along with several other guys). Man, I'm definitely used to it. The man is without a doubt a Top 5 RB in the league and yet gets no props. But, that's all right... So which of these running backs would you say he's better than?

  19. Is Timon a meerkat or meekrat? God forbid The Lion King clear the air on this subject...
  20. So that's why you're voting for Gary Sheffield, who's taking the lovable loser Yankees to the postseason for the first time in 11 months? Or Manny Ramirez, who's playing for those lowly Red Sox? I think we need to see that Win Shares statistic posted again, Al. I honestly don't remember any specifics for the MVP contenders.
  21. AoO, I submitted my picks to KKK a week ago via PM, so I'm being totally honest about my picks... WEEK 1 Indianapolis at New England Arizona at St. Louis Baltimore at Cleveland Cincinnati at N.Y. Jets Detroit at Chicago Jacksonville at Buffalo Oakland at Pittsburgh San Diego at Houston Seattle at New Orleans Tampa Bay at Washington Tennessee at Miami Atlanta at San Francisco Dallas at Minnesota N.Y. Giants at Philadelphia Kansas City at Denver Green Bay at Carolina
  22. If everyone could offer their opinion on the following question, it'd spark an additional group of discussion: If Ichiro gets thisclose to breaking or surpassing the .400 barrier (let's say .395 or better), in addition to claiming the hits record, does he deserve the MVP award?
  23. Timmy Chang passes for 302 yards in a loss to Florida Atlantic, and is now 1,916 yards away from the NCAA career record held by Ty Detmer. Win or lose, I want to see Chang break the record.
